  1. male was #12. Doss was #21. 1. Scott Co 2. Ballard 3. Bryan Station 4. Mason Co 5. Lexington Catholic 6. Warren Central 7. Jeffersontown 8. Madison Central 9. Covington Catholic 10. Tates Creek It looks like Warren Central played a better schedule than I thought. They played a few teams in the #10-#25 range.
  2. Can GRC beat Ballard? If they play like they did against Mason, maybe.
  3. Come on Son of Bear, you know the answer to this one. Since 1998, these regions have been down almost every year.
  4. Was Doss top 10? I don't think they were at the end of the year. A pretty good team none the less.
  5. Its not a bad schedule. But to be honest UHA was not very good and Apollo wasn't close to a top 10 team. I think Christian Co ended up around #15.
  6. Do you think the Dragons conservative regular season schedule has an impact on them? I noticed they only played one top 10 team I think. I would really like to see the state powers play each other more in the regular season.
  7. The thing I like about JBS, is they were not affraid to play the big boys such as Lexington Catholic and Mason County during the regular season. So many eastern Kentucky schools like to stay in the mountains.
  8. What has been the biggest upset in the last 10 years? If JBS wins this one, this will be surpase it.
  9. This surprises me. I thought this one would be one sided.
  10. You can also listen to the game on the internet at: http://khsaa.ezstream.com/play/index.cfm?fuseaction=playemb&id=65189
  11. Dang it, contrary to what my wife says, I do remember something every now and then.
  12. Have the neutural fans picked up JBS big time?
  13. I think most cosidered Elliot the underdog. Even if they weren't it sounded like they were the fan darlings. I'm sure this was because they are such a small school and its their first trip. If JBS plays close to Warren Central, and I don't expect they will, the fans will pick up JBS.
  14. I heard them say this as well, but dog gone it I think I remember ole Bo making 20 free throws. I think it was a state record at the time. I am not sure if it still is. I think Bo had something like 42 points in that game. I have noticed the State Tournament program has omited several Sweet 16 records such as: Clay County's 7 game State Tournament Win Streak Scott County's 7 game State Tournemnat win streak Billy Hicks' 14 Sweet 16 coaching wins I am sure there were other omissions, these are the ones I noticed.
  15. I think officials many times get wrapped up in the atmosphere of Rupp Arena and the Sweet 16. The fans pick up the underdog team. The fans are cheering every call that goes against the game favorite. The next thing you know the officials are giving the underdog a few calls. Officials are human too. They like to hear the fans cheer for their calls instead of boo them. In regular season games politics are a huge part of officiating in Kentucky High School. There is a lot of compitition for which officials get the biggest games. If the assigning secretary openly dislikes a coach. Some officials are not above "sticking it to" the coach to get in a little better with the assigning secretary and therefore get better games. I have been told by an official that this happens a lot in one particular case. Since he told me this I have noticed this coach can't catch a break in big games.
  16. I wasn't at this game so I don't know if the game was fair or not. But yes, officials have been known to steal high school games. If you don't believe this you should have been at the 8th region tournament in 2005 or the 13th region tournament in 1994.
  17. Hammonds had a horrible game against Fairdale. He was 1/10 shooting. Proffitt was cluch as always. This was the best I had seen Smith play. SL doesn't get a lot of offense most of the time out of the other 12 players.
  18. I thought Bo Roaden from Corbin made 20 free throws in a state tournement game in 1991. If I remember correctly, it was against Knott Co Central in the opening round.
  19. He was a heck of a player for Rodney Woods at Wayne County High School.
  20. Proffitt, Hamonds, and Smith (the three main players for SL) were all very key players for SL in 05.
  21. Not nearly that much. If South wins it will be close. If Holmes wins it will be close.
  22. Poor Shooting. Both Holmes and Tilghman put on one of the worst shooting displays in state tournament history last night. I think at one time they were something like 31/105 combined. And who the heck said Holmes had NO experience? I said South had the edge in experience. South has played 7 Sweet 16 games since 2005.
  23. GRC was a very good team but not top 10. They were ranked in the top 20 but not top 10. After the regional and today, maybe they should have been.
