  1. Great effort for three quarters and then Conner ran out of gas in the 4th. #12 Allison Long had 29 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals for the Lady Cougars.
  2. This is a huge loss for Ryle. Moss and Crittendon were a formidable tandem. They would have been a force to be reckoned with the next 3 years. It is unfortuante we will not be able to see Ms. Moss further develop into an outstanding player. I predict we will see this young lady playing at the highest level when she leaves H.S. Good luck to Sidney Moss.
  3. Gela Haynes is supposed to get an MRI today. She was not able to bend her knee much this weekend so we are not very hopeful. Ellery Kring was told to be off a "few days" and see how she feels. That is all we know for now.
  4. Conner wins the game, but loses two starters to injuries during the game. Starting center Gela Haynes suffered a knee injury early in the 4th Qtr. Haynes was in a lot of pain and left on crutches. We’ll just have to wait and see what the MRI shows Monday. Also, starting guard Ellery Kring left the game in the 4th Quarter, after a South Oldham player stepped on her neck. The Trainer advised the parents to get X-rays. Tough break for the Lady Cougars, who are already playing without starting point guard Devin Beasley the rest of the season. :ohbrother:
  5. I agree. Highlands played great defense against Long and Conner played poor defense against Allen. #4 Katie Allen continues to show Conner what happens if you don’t guard her. For Conner to be successful, Allison Long has to play well, they have to play good team defense, and they have to shoot well. The final margin could have been more, but Coach Richey is a class act and didn't run the score up.
  6. Highlands at Conner tonight at 7:00 p.m. On paper, Highlands is the clear favorite.
  7. I think these teams are very similar and they match up well with each other. Below are my RTB’s (reasons to believe): • Both teams are led by experienced senior guards. • Bradley for Boone and Long for Conner make things happen on the court for their teams. • Both of these players are clutch in the 4th Qtr. • They both make their teammates better. • Bradley and Long have been playing as teammates or as competitors since they were 11. • They are both winners and they make each other better. • Both teams have young players that are improving each game. • Finally, these teams are long time rivals and usually those are at least good competitive games. Conner by 3, but I’m prejudiced.:thumb:
  8. Kayla Smith of SK had two huge blocks in the final seconds of the game that were critical to their victory. Kayla played well, but foul trouble limited her playing timie and ultimately almost cost SK the game. Chelsea Tolliver was unstoppable and played the entire game for SK. I don't know how many she had, but it seemed more than 20. She was absolutely clucth at the end of the game....Chelsea took over the game.
  9. Conner comes from behind to win. Sophomore Toria Fischer made 7 three point bombs and led Conner with 25 points.
  10. Good one Panda....sorry so late with my comment....you missed a good game Friday night! Of course, Conner is so lucky that Highlands played so bad and they had players sick......we also were told they have played a lot of games lately.....
  11. I agree with your assesment PT. On paper, Highlands has all the advantages and should win the game.
  12. Conner’s junior point guard, Devin Beasley, will have season ending shoulder surgery on Tuesday. Devin has been playing through pain all season. Before the season began her doctor did not want her to play, but she opted to wear the shoulder harness to see if she could tough it out. If you know Devin, you know she loves the game with all her heart and didn’t want to let her team down. Devin played her final game of the season on Saturday against Clay Co. She helped jump start the Lady Cougars in the second half with a nice move on the base line and smooth jumper. The Lady Cougars will certainly miss her ball handling, defense, hustle, scoring, passing, energy, and toughness. Devin is the ultimate team player. She is unselfish and cares more about the team victory than her own scoring. We wish her well and a speedy recovery so that she will be ready to lead the Lady Cougars her senior season.
  13. First let me say, whether she had 8 or 12 rebounds doesn’t take away that Ms. Moss is a phenomenal player. The Ryle team showed last night they are a force to be reckoned with in the 9th Region. WV, imagine this weekend you are watching one of the NFL playoff games. Referee makes a call, but the coach challenges it. They go to the replay booth. Have you ever heard the referee come back out and say, “Even though the replay shows the referees were wrong about the call, we are not going to overturn the call, because we have been doing this a looooong time!” I don’t mean this confrontationally. I just want to point out that sometimes it is the angle or the speed of the game that can cause mistakes…even to the best of us. For example, I almost gave 3 rebounds to #44 Moss, when they should have gone to #24 Williams for Ryle. I used my trusty stop action, went back and realized my mistake. I am human and make lots of mistakes. :idunno:
  14. WV, I watched the video of the Ryle vs. Conner game again. I just didn’t remember Moss having 12 rebounds. She actually had 8 rebounds for the game. If you go by a team’s official book, that is usually never accurate. To be fair, it is much easier when you can look at the video tape and stop action to be accurate. However, exaggerated stats are pretty normal for the 9th region. For example, someone will post that a girl had 6-9 assists, but when you look at the game tape she actually had 5. I understand what happens, a girl misses a wide open lay-up or easy shot and the parent just wants to give them the credit for the assist. Oh well.
  15. Ryle is young but so is Conner. So, don't understand why you think Ryle can get better but Conner can't..... I thought WVFRank had the best assesment below. I would add that Moss playing away from the basket helped Conner the most. Even though Moss is very athletic, she didn't get many rebounds becuase she was always coming in late to the boards. With our lack of height, that really helped Conner. (Conner outrebounded Ryle 37-27 without their starting center.):thumb:
  16. Conner got out to an early lead but Ryle battled back. Crittendon had 21 and Moss had 20 for Ryle. Allison Long had 20 for Conner. Good District win for Conner, especially since their starting center, Gila Haines, did not play. She was out sick. It was a big team win for Conner.
  17. Final. Allison Long led all scorers with 19 points. Next up for the Lady Cougars will be Taft H.S. Tuesday night.
  18. Conner started slow but finished strong, scoring 23 points in the 4th Qtr. Allison Long scored 23 for the Lady Cougars to lead all scorers. Congratulations to Notre Dame, Highlands, Simon Kenton, Boone Co., and Ryle for their big wins this weekend. Games are going to be a lot of fun to watch this season. :dancingpa
  19. I have been told all of them are at Conner, but I don't know that for sure. I do know the Freshman class at Conner is very talented.
  20. Long has not committed. Thomas More is interested and she really likes the school and Coach Neal. No other colleges have expressed any interest.
  21. Conner's center #14 Gela Haynes finished the game with 18 rebounds. Due to lack of height on the team this year, she will need to continue to be a force under the basket for the Lady Cougars. Conner's #12 Allison Long led all scorers with 20 points. Early foul trouble sent her to the bench for a big part of the first half. She was 11 of 13 from the free throw line. I think many are going to be surprised with the talent of the younger players for Conner this year. Stay tuned.....this is going to be an exciting year for the 9th region!
  22. I agree trainride, Conner did play great team ball tonight. Conner also shot the ball well making 13 three point baskets. Anna Noll was wearing a boot on her right ankle, so she did not play for Holy Cross. She is a great player HC will need her. Hopefully she will heal quickly. Conner's Allison Long led all scorers with 21.
  23. I understand OBC, but it definitely caused a lot of commotion up here in NKy. People assumed I knew about the transfer and when I claimed my innocence, they just didn’t believe me. I guess a lot of folks thought if Conner got a transfer, we would have a chance to win the 9th Region.
  24. I see you are making predictions again this year OBC. I remember last year you said on BGP that Conner would be getting a transfer....you even said it was going to be a big girl. Well, Conner never got the transfer. So, my bet is that SW won't lose their big girl this year. I predict she stays at SW. Since you made the same prediction on another thread, I had to repeat my earlier post.
