  1. Let me see if I can make it a little easier for you to understand cootyb25. Let’s say hypothetically, a player from Boone Co. went to a NAIA Div.II school to play basketball. If someone then posted on BGP, something idiotic like, “this was the best she could do, because she wasn’t talented enough to play DI or DII.” Would you think that fair cootyb25? As others have posted, it is no shame in playing below DI. Lots of kids choose to play below DI for a variety of reasons. I just have a problem with you making the statement, “You are talking division I for Jayme and division III or maybe divison II at best for Allison at this point.” That is a disparaging remark, whether you realize it or not. I listed your previous post about Conner to point out that you were dead wrong about Conner. Yes, I took everything you wrote then about Conner and now about Allison personally. You can write a lot of things from now on, but you can never take away their championship season. They showed all their doubters! You can also try to demean Allison all you want, but that only makes her stronger. She is an amazing player and an amazing daughter. Lastly, look at my posts all you want, but you won’t find negative posts from me. I don’t single out teams as not being able to win and I don’t name specific players as not being talented enough.
  2. Sounds like you are the DI expert cootyb25. You know, I have always heard that if a player can only shoot from the outside, and they just don’t have any moves to the basket, it can prevent them from getting a DI scholarship. Would you agree cb25? I’ve been reading some of your other posts. Back in July you wrote, “I see it as Boone, Highlands, and NCC with ND knocking on the door. Conner has some good players but other than Hodges I see no other rebounders. and once again they will get hurt by bigger teams in the paint. Long and Beasley will be pressed from the minute they leave the locker room. How they handle that will determine how far they go.” •You gave Conner no chance to win the region…..hmm. •You recognized that big girls would be a challenge for Conner. However, you underestimated Gela Haynes, Jordan Kremer, and Sammy Johns, helping Stephanie Hodges play great team defense in the paint. •You thought all the teams would press Conner. You were half right on that one. Most teams did press Conner the first half of the season. After they realized that wasn’t very effective, teams didn't press so much.
  3. I understand Crunch Time, but no team is unbeatable. Did Bleacher watch the Superbowl? I agree that the odds may be against Conner, but it is not impossible. :thumb:
  4. Haven't see any posts this year from TOG. I am sure some have missed your bashing of the Conner program this year. Thought for sure you would jump on the bandwagon "Conner can't beat Highlands".......
  5. It was a great team effort by the Lady Cougars. Conner trailed until 2:45 to go in the 3rd Qtr. Simon Kenton kept battling back to tie the game, but they never led again. #11 Stephanie Hodges had 19 points and 11 rebounds for another double double. #12 Allison Long had 30 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals. #53 Jordan Kremer made two crucial base line jumpers in OT. She finished with 12 points.
  6. It’s just not that cut and dry AllKnower. Highlands is very talented. Towles and Allen are two of the very best in the region. The Adlers are strong contributors and Horner is shooting lights out right now. If Highlands gets a lead, then they play their “keep away” offense. Also, the lead allows them to just play zone defense. Every team is going to play zone against Conner, until they can prove they can beat it. However, if Conner can stay out of foul trouble and hit open shots, then the outcome may be different next time. IMO, the 9th Region tournament is wide open for the team that is “hot” at the right time. It could be HHS, Boone, Holmes, ND, NCC, Conner, etc. No team is the clear favorite and no team in the 9th is out of contention this year.
  7. Conner vs Highlands is at Simon Kenton at 8:15 p.m.
  8. Both teams are talented, well coached, and very disciplined. I don't believe Mason Co. will be able to handle Towles. Also, I think Highlands is quicker at the guard postion. This should be a very good game, but IMO Highlands should win.
  9. Agreed SC. This was a quality win against a well coached, talented, and very disciplined team. The Lady Cougars played great team basketball to win this one. It doesn't get any easier as the Lady Cougars play in the Kenton Co. Classic next week.
  10. In addition to Ms. Hodges, the All Tourn. Team from Conner included: #4 Devin Beasley, #14 Gela Haynes, and #53 Jordan Kremer. Congratulations on an outstanding tournament ladies!
  11. You are exactly right KSCTU! Stephanie Hodges is not only a great player; she is a great team leader. She is a wonderful young lady with a great attitude and a smile on her face all the time. In the championship game of our last tournament, a player from the other team scored their 1,000th point. The game was stopped to recognize the accomplishment. Stephanie was one of the first players to go over and congratulate her. We could all learn lessons from this young lady. Stephanie is also another 9th Region player that doesn’t get near enough credit! She is tough as nails!
  12. Sorry didn't get to post last night. Conner won the game in OT. It was tough beating the host team on their home floor. The Lady Cougars play Ashland for the Championship at 6:15.
  13. Coach K wanted to pass along his congratulations on a great achievement! He won't be able to post any more on BGP. He has been permanently banned because of some punctuation, and grammatical errors in his posts.
  14. Conner wins in the first round of the Queen of the Bluegrass Tournament. Conner played great team basketball against a very good Madisonville North Hopkins team. The Lady Cougars now play the host East Carter Lady Raiders Friday night.
  15. This is a great accomplishment. 2,000 is not out of reach! :thumb:
  16. I always thought this was a rumor and said so early on. Now everyone can relax.
  17. Foul trouble is the main reason LCA lost the game. Novosel played great and LCA missed too many bunnies, but the MAIN reason LCA lost the game was foul trouble. The majority of the fouls called against LCA were ridiculous. Two of the three referees were horrible, and the third was marginal. LCA's weakness is depth and when the referees forced 3 of their 4 starters out of the game, that was all Lex Cath. needed.
  18. Congratulations to 8th Region’s Chelsea Tolliver! She scored her 1,000th point against Williamstown H.S. Monday night and Simon Kenton won the game. This young lady is a tough competitor and a flat out scorer!
  19. Good things come to those who wait......right OBC?
  20. Has any other thread had 7,000 views? The Top Thread has to go to the 9th Region! The only thing that can stop us is.....the "Last Page".
  21. I believe there is going to be a lot of parity in the 9th region this year, which will be great. I just don't see one or two power house teams in the 9th that will beat everyone. Those that are committed to do the work, will see it pay off. Good luck to all the teams this coming year!
