  1. You are exactly right Boom, back when girls weren’t allowed to play full court, I bet there were those who said, “Just think how the shooting percentage will suffer if we let them play offense and defense.” Others probably said, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” It took so long to make these changes that the girl’s game suffered, while the boy’s game flourished. So, our generation is at a crossroads of change. One group wants the girls game to continue to develop and improve, while another group wants things to stay the same. Don’t be afraid. Embrace change.
  2. I regularly see teams hold the ball for 60-90 seconds in Ky. and Ohio games. Just last week, a team held the ball for 1:30 per possession for the majority of the game. If one team is weaker than the other, the coach that has the weaker team simply plays “keep away.” That’s not strategy and it isn’t basketball. Also, it is so boring to watch a team stall the ball the last 3-4 minutes of a half or to end the game. When the game should be at its most exciting crescendo, the coach plays boring keep away. If the weaker team wins, they didn’t win a basketball game, they won the game of keep away.
  3. Why can't we have a shot clock? It would make the game so much better. Sometimes the game gets so slow. What is your opinion?
  4. I don’t have to be on the bench to know I would have switched to another defense. The LCA Coach didn’t even try different presses. Lex Catholic got into a rhythm and LCA’s starters kept fouling trying to stop lay-ups. We all make mistakes as coaches. The best coaches learn from their mistakes, instead of being stubborn. 0-2.
  5. Thanks for the nice welcome swamp thang. I am a rookie to this venue, so here are some rookie observations: •lots of good topics •do like seeing all the scores •very diverse group of opinions •some folks are a little sensitive •most of us have biased views of our own teams I like it. Isn’t free speech great?
  6. I have watched both games between Lex. Catholic and LCA this year. In both games, the LCA coach refused to drop the press. In both games, Lex. Catholic broke the press with ease scoring lay up after lay up. In both games, LCA players naturally got into foul trouble. When playing most teams, pressing the entire game may not be a problem, however, if you’re playing a team that breaks the press each and every possession, and all of your starters are in foul trouble, don’t you think you should drop the press?
