  1. That would be a great trade for the Reds. Griffey gone, put Bruce in right and Victor in center.
  2. If Arroyo, Griffey, Dunn and Weathers are still with the team after the trade deadline, it means the Reds were asking for too much. Give them away for coupon to Best Buy, I don't care, just get rid of them.
  3. They were coming off their first winning road trip in nearly 2 years, they were playing 2 teams on this homestand that they were "capable" of beating. Now they need to sweep the Nationals to make this a successful homestand. How frustrating is it though, last year the Reds would have been probably at or over .500 with a solid bullpen, NOW they get a solid pen this year and they have a hard time even getting in position to use it.
  4. I didn't see it coming and I'm happy to give the Rays a lot of credit for how well they have played to this point. With that said, they are playing with house money and no one expects them to do anything. I figure a lot of people are still waiting for the collapse, I won't say they are for real til they start winning those games in September. If they are still in first or close to the top come the first of September, they will start to feel all the pressure in the world to seal the deal.
  5. I remember Hal Mccoy making a comment before Thompson's first start that he wasn't ready for the majors yet and needed more time. Like anyone his age, Thompson has shown good and bad signs, because the Reds aren't going anywhere this year, maybe give the kid a few more starts to see how he responds and continues to evolve.
  6. Maybe Mal has taken over the thought process of our Hall of Fame TV people, just say random things that have nothing to do with the game.
  7. So I guess it's safe to say this might be a high scoring game.
  8. The positive side of that news, means that Keppinger may now have a permanent spot on the team at SS.
  9. This is the Clippers, something will go wrong, whether injuries or implosion with the players they have. I guess it's a nice signing for them, but as someone mentioned above, you are putting a lot of money/faith into a guy who is a head case.
  10. Weathers time as a Red has to be coming to an end.
  11. That would be putting it kindly. Reds got a break earlier on the home plate call that should have gone the Pirates way, things do have a way of evening out, BUT that was an absolutely horrid call. At least the home plate play was bang, bang and very close.
  12. I'm just waiting for the Reds to join that bandwagon of batting the pitcher 8th, seems to be catching on.
  13. Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in goodness knows how long, I would say Mr. Jones is a tad tired of hearing that statistic. Not to mention that the Cowboys have become the Yankees of the NFL. A lot of hype, a lot of talk and a lot of buildup, but at the end of the day (in the last several years) nadda.
  14. I turn on the game long enough to see the double and the walk off homer, BORING!
  15. I didn't get a chance to respond before the other one got closed. Dunn may have a good game today and good games the rest of the week, but then he will have 20 bad games to wipe out whatever progress he made. I just don't like him and willing to admit I'm suddenly blind when he does something positive.
  16. They have a winning road trip for the first time in forever, they have a "winnable" homestand coming up against the Pirates and Nationals. Could this team finally get to that mythical 500 spot or was this trip just a flash in the pan?
  17. Majewski just earned his roster spot, at least til the All Star Break and Phillips showed why he will getting a few of those Gold Gloves before his career his over.
  18. According to our Hall of Fame analysts, Griffey tapes his own bat as opposed to letting someone in the clubhouse do it. I wonder if this means he ties his own shoes too.
  19. Reds win tomorrow and it will be their first winning road trip since the War of 1812! :scared::scared:
  20. Byrd (3-8, 5.21 ERA) recorded his 100th win June 6 at Detroit, but has dropped three straight starts since, going 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA in that span. He previously lost three consecutive starts in a single season from June 2-12, 2002 with Kansas City. Byrd is 4-1 with a 3.04 ERA, while starting seven of his 14 career appearances against the Reds. Johnny Cueto (5-8, 5.01) is 1-5 with a 6.49 ERA in seven road starts. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=280628105
  21. How many more chances is Majewski going to get? He is goodness awful and can't get the job done. All we kept hearing was "when he is healthy" well, he has been healthy for over a year now and still can't get people out. Of course the Bad News Bears routine in the field doesn't help matters.
  22. CC has found his groove, which means the Reds best chance to score any runs won't be until the Indians bullpen comes in.
  23. Harang isn't getting it done, that's all I can add.
  24. You would think it's a matter of time before Thompson gives up 5 or 6 runs in an inning. While you give him credit for making the pitches to get out of trouble, you can't keep putting runners on every inning and not get burned eventually.
