  1. I didn't know that things didn't work out with BP in Cleveland and he ended up getting dealt to Cincinnati. I'm glad George and Chrissy told me that. That's what it takes to get some genuine emotion out of Dunn. Would explain why we don't see that much of it.
  2. At this point, I would be happy if the Reds traded Dunn for a few baseball bats and a player to be named later. So I think my answer would be yes to this trade.
  3. Thompson (1-0, 0.00 ERA) made his big league debut on Saturday, throwing five innings in a 6-0 win at Yankee Stadium. The 22-year-old right-hander was unable to sleep much of the night before and got lost on the way to the ballpark, ending up in Brooklyn instead of the Bronx. C.C. Sabathia (5-8, 4.06) is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA over his last three starts, including a complete-game, 1-0 win over Minnesota on June 10. Sabathia has fared well against the Reds, going 2-0 with a 2.68 ERA in seven career starts. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview;_ylt=AkoeqM6hBPfHqbQ1DHhPAxg5nYcB?gid=280627105
  4. Reds start off the road strip strong at 2-0 and played well in that 3rd game. Now they go to Cleveland 3-3 and considering who is pitching this weekend, it will be a tad interesting to see how it plays out.
  5. If he's patient, Bruce could end up walking 4 times tonight. No way in the world he gets anything to hit considering the player on deck.
  6. Prior to joining Cincinnati (36-43) in the offseason, Volquez (10-2, 1.71 ERA) spent parts of three seasons with Texas, going 3-11 in 20 appearances from 2005-07. The 24-year-old has limited opponents to three earned runs or fewer in 14 of his 15 starts. Volquez has won three straight starts on the road, where he is 5-1 with a 1.65 ERA in eight starts in 2008. Jesse Litsch (7-4, 4.06) went 7-1 with a 3.18 ERA in his first 11 appearances of 2008, but has since gone 0-3 with a 6.46 ERA in four starts - all in June. Litsch is 0-3 with a 7.91 ERA in four career interleague games, but has never faced the Reds. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=280626114
  7. With Voltron tomorrow, the Reds have a great chance to take this series.
  8. I would hope that Adam payed attention to Almighty's at bat, that's how you get a run in. Thank goodness Bruce did that, cause the 90 million dollar man certainly isn't capable.
  9. While the Reds pen deserves a great deal of credit for keeping this thing notted at 5, Toronto is goodness awful tonight. Blue Jays with bases loaded, nobody out in the 7th, runner at 2nd in the 8th and 9th and they can't push one across. Toronto would fit in very well in the National League Central.
  10. It's a nickname my father uses to describe him, while I'm sure Dunn haters here on the board can think of something better, that will have to do for now.
  11. Dudd makes a decent throw and Ross can't make the play, well Harang WAS in position to get the win.
  12. WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court has struck down a Louisiana law that allows the execution of people convicted of a raping a child. In a 5-4 vote, the court says the law allowing the death penalty to be imposed in cases of child rape violates the Constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment. "The death penalty is not a proportional punishment for the rape of a child," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in his majority opinion. His four liberal colleagues joined him, while the four more conservative justices dissented. There has not been an execution in the United States for a crime that did not also involve the death of the victim in 44 years. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080625/ap_on_go_su_co/scotus_rdp
  13. Toronto set a season high in runs and the 22 hits were its most since totaling 25 on Aug. 9, 1999. Harang (3-10, 4.33 ERA) is just 1-5 with a 6.63 ERA in his last seven appearances. But the Reds have won each of Harang’s last five interleague starts, and he is 5-1 with a 1.62 ERA in his last eight games versus the AL since June 23, 2006. Roy Halladay (8-6, 2.90) is 17-8 with a 3.00 ERA in 32 lifetime interleague games, has gone 5-1 with a 2.86 ERA in his last eight appearances versus the NL since June 24, 2006. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=280625114
  14. Reds have to go into next year with Harang, Voltron and Cueto. No way in goodness green earth they can continue to give Arroyo the ball every 5 days after this year, even after the trade deadline. He has to go, whatever it takes.
  15. I tried to pick a word that would really get the point across, but still making sure to follow BGP rules. :thumb:
  16. When I saw the story this morning, two things went through my head: 1. How in the world does this idiot still have a job on the air. 2. Doesn't the idiot realize that ANYTHING he says, especially anything race related, is going to be over analyzed.
  17. Cincinnati (35-42) has struggled offensively, hitting .207 and scoring 32 runs over the last 12 games. The Reds are 4-8 in that span and at the bottom of the NL Central. Burnett (6-7, 5.42 ERA) has failed to last more than five innings in three consecutive starts, posting an 11.30 ERA while allowing 22 hits and 12 walks. The right-hander has an 8.16 ERA and .336 opponent batting average in seven appearances at home. He’s 1-3 with a 6.89 ERA in six career starts against the Reds, but has not faced them since 2005 while with Florida. Arroyo (4-6, 5.55) is 0-2 with a 6.33 ERA in four starts this month, allowing six homers in 21 1-3 innings. The right-hander has given up 16 runs and 33 hits in his last 20 1-3 innings on the road. Arroyo made all nine of his starts versus the Blue Jays while pitching for Boston in 2004 and 2005, and is 0-3 with a 5.87 ERA in his last four outings against them. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=280624114
  18. Milner Oester Concepcion Cedeno Driessen Walker Bench Trevino Berenyi Really hope the Reds can get this series with Toronto off on the right foot.
  19. I was thinking the same thing when our Hall of Fame tv analysts were talking about what a mistake it was to let Cantu go when the Reds were playing in Miami a few weeks ago. Let's see: E-5 is locked in at 3rd, Votto was going to be a lock at first, BP is a lock at 2nd. You figured Gonzalez would come back, if not, they had a darn good hitter in Keppinger. Cantu would play where? I doubt the Reds have the worst TV people, George and Chrissy, but they have to be among the worst.
  20. Offense has struggled, they have had more than their fair share of injuries, the offense has been too inconsistent. Bullpen has been much improved, but that #5 spot in the rotation has been up in the air all year. Add to the ups and downs of Arroyo, the bizarre year that Harang has had, it adds up to the record they have now. HT mentioned it and I'm sure it's been talked about it before, the Reds fix one thing and then something else goes wrong.
  21. As sad as this is, it was just a matter of time. His last few specials weren't the best and you knew his time was almost up. I'm just so thankful he left behind close to 40 years of material to enjoy.
  22. 14 in a row at home is the longest winning streak for the Cubs in 72 years. Just unbelievable and at 32-8, the best start at home in Wrigley Field history.
  23. Reds had a nice showing in New York following the god awful homestand. Maybe they can carry that momentum to Toronto.
  24. Can you imagine if they played in a bigger market and how much more attention they would be getting?
  25. Bruce has done a great job in the 2 hole and now he is put down at 7, just makes no sense at all.
