Bracken County Coach for 08-09?
former panther replied to All In's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Hiring Coach Kelsch is the right as well as the smart thing to do. It will come back and haunt them if they don't!!! -
What about concession stands....

Augusta's by far is the best!! I know at one time they had the heaviest men's coaching staffs in the 10th region!! You can't buy that kind of endorsement. There is also a rumor going around that the coach of Jayhawk football team is none other than Mangino Kelsch, long lost brother of Robin Kelsch. -

I've watched games at all three places and never seen or heard such behavior. My guess is they are yelling at you and not the ball players!! -

Augusta's student section is in the balcony not on the floor. -
Nicholas County Head Coaching Job

It seems they have offered everyone but Coach Kelsch the job. I know what my response would be if they came calling now to Coach Kelsch. He deserves better than the way this has been handled. -

Needing a new coach at St. Patrick

The thing you don't realize is Coach Ormes was not interested in coaching anywhere else. He loved the kids and what the school stood for. He would have retired just like Coach Turner did. You need to get a clue. This did involve some parents wanting Coach Douglas to be head coach. If you think otherwise then you are clueless. -

If you were to talk to Coach Sullivan he would tell you the real reason why he left. He was tired of dealing with the administration that was there. Coach Sullivan loved the oppurtunity that was given to him while being at St. Pat. He has nothing to do with this situation so leave him out of it. -

There are many great students and teachers that make St. Pat a great Catholic School. This is why it is surprising how they treated Coach Ormes. Secret meetings involving disgruntled players and unhappy parents, which by the way came from middle school players Coach Ormes has not even had yet as a player. Lex Turner is a legend in the 10th region and a great coach. He is left out completely in the equation and doesn't get a chance to provide input. What's that all about? I would expect better from a Christian school. Principal Kirry does seem like a great principal and will take some heat for this and I think that is unfair. The real person who made the decision had a chance in the paper the other day to take responsibility for what happened. What did he do? He threw his principal under the bus. Then he acted like he wasn't sure what happened or who was responsible. A great man once said " Ma'am you can go to hell for lying." Bringing up some public school leaders from other schools was a good point. But I think you have it backwards. We expect things like this to happen at public schools. We expect better from schools that are founded on any Christian beliefs. -

I believe if you check each class rosters you'll find your answer. Not to mention his visits to Augusta and trips across the river getting players, not students to come there. The fact that there are kids playing sports and are not even living in Kentucky, should be a KHSAA violation. -

A successor is some one who follows another coach after they retire or leave on their own accord. When you are part of the reason why he is leaving, that doesn't make you a successor, it makes you a loser. Those girls should be ashamed of speaking out against him. Douglas may have brief success as coach at St. Pat., but what happens when her daughter graduates? -

Phraseology???? Typical Father Hinds!!! This has nothing to do with the principal or Lex Turner. This was Father Hinds call all the way. Some parents were threatening to leave woth their kids if he stayed. He has no class and he is making the school look bad. -

Total lack of class on St. Pat's part. The athletic director wasn't even involved in the decision. To many parents running a great coach out of job. No Class!!!! -
Coaching Changes in the 10th Region

Augusta has a new head, and Coach Ormes is going to be the coach at St. Pat next year. He has heard these rumors also and doesn't know where they started, but he has a good idea who had a part in it. It's been said that Coach Douglas will end up somewhere in Cincinnati at a private school. -
Mofford plays well against smaller opponents but needs to step up against bigger players. He fades to much and shoots to many shots off balance. Defensively he can be a force, but needs to improve his offensive skills. Staggs is more than a water boy, didn't say that he was, but in big games "Shooty", Groves, Mofford cannot come out and play like they did. I'm not saying they should have beat Mason, but I did expect them to perform better. Then to make matters worse Mason's third string ran all over Augusta's second team. Augusta is capable of winning a game in the region depending on the draw, and it depends on ALL the starters doing what they are capable of doing.

I thought White and Hardyman played hard and unintimidated, everyone else seemed scared. The loss of Gallagher and Hargett from last year was evident. Two years in a row in the district finals means you deserve to be there. Now you have to play like it.

Chris Owens - Very underrated!
former panther replied to U Reach I Teach's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
There is one thing that puts Chris in a category by himself, is that he could have chosen to play at Mason County and played in the State Tournament. He chose to stay where his brothers and sister played their careers at. Choosing faith, family, and tradition over personal glory. Sometimes you don't have to win a state championship or a Mr. Basketball to be considered a champion. If you look up the definition of champion, you will find a picture of Chris Owens.
