Well from what i can remeber of Newports teams, I will give it a try. C- Shawn Little in the 80's 1st- Kevin Ewing 80s 2nd- not to sure here SS- Bobby Meyer 80's 3rd- Jimmy Cutter 70's i think he was a infielder OF-Jeff Byrd 80's- Steve Murphy 70's- Shawn Mattieoli 80's- Jeff Allen 70's- David Bedford 70's- Dave Kuningien -2000's P- Rick Atkins 80's- Joey Stamm 80's- Dicky Boothe- 70's - David Scholosser 70's- one of the Kues 2000's- Matt Atkins 2000's I know i am forgetting someone and the years may not be right but i remeber reading about these players in their days at Newport.

I know that Rob Reynolds from Newport is not one of the names. I know him and he told me that he was going west and work with his brother. If he didnt go west he would still be at Newport. I am not sure of Barry Jones. But good luck to Lloyd on finding a coach.

Here is a list of a few Newport players, that i have seen play. Here is some offensive from what i can remeber. QB-Mike Shoemaker RB-David Bedford RB-David Simpson WR-James "Shakes" Thomas WR- TE-Matt Atkins T-Drew Rankin T-Mark Switzer G-Brian Pope G- C- K-Jim Ross That is all i can remeber at this time. I am sure some else can add to this, but these are the guys i remeber and had big years for the Wildcats.

where is he looking to play at in college?

From what i hear, Newport played well last night. They played hard. Congrats to the Newport on this win.

i am almost positive that newport scheduled ryle next year

I wanted to say good luck to Mercer Co.in the finals. But with the changes coming next year to football with 6 new classes why didn't the khsaa wait till next year for this change? I dont think it would have hurt anything for one more year, if the 2 schools would have stayed in there classes till next year. Anyway that is just my opinion on this.

Mercer Co will win this one big. They have a good offense and they will run the ball, and run the ball more. Then there defense will step up to play. I know OC will come to play but i dont think they have the horses to play against a 5a school. Good Luck to both. Mercer 54 OC 20

When was the last time that we had a team from 1A, 3A and 4A that was this close to making it to state? It would be real nice if they all 3 won

CCH BIG... The schedule Coach Rodenberg put them through this year has them set up perfect to win a state title. NKY football is a different level of play, so i see a BIG win

I seen her play and she was the best player in the 9th region last year imo. She is going to have to carry the Cats again, unless they have a few other players step up. Good Luck to all team this year
