  1. I don't think the problem is so much the win total. They'll get 20+ wins probably. I think the problem is who they beat and who they don't beat. It's easy getting wins against Miss Valley St, DePaul, UMass, College of Charleston, EKU and teams like that. But whenever you get beat by most of the ranked teams, that's where the problem is. To me, it's not just about losing 2 games. It's several years of doing nothing. If UK had made the Final Four last year, or even the year before, I doubt many people would be so upset. I've told people for several years now, that if UK would make it to the Final Four, I would get off his case. But until then, not a chance. It seems to me that a lot of people want to point out the Tubby "won" the title in '98 so he deserves credit. But when the team constantly gets bounced in the 2nd or 3rd round, it's not his fault, they just don't have the players. Strange.
  2. Let's not forget about the Miami brawl after their bowl game last year. The brawl against Florida International Atlantic Coastal or whatever their name is, isn't the first time occurance. This team has been trouble for some time. Even with players like Kellen Winslow Jr and Jeremy Shockey who are good players, but run their mouths way too much and have terrible attitudes. IMO the character of Miami has been in question for some time and it finally caught up with them.
  3. And here I thought I was the only person you picked on.
  4. Every other person in America can have him as far as I'm concerned. Let him go to Duke and coach and see how long it takes them and all of the media to declare him average.
  5. I would get technical about it, but my head hurts too bad.
  6. Think what you want about the season, or me. Personally I think it's the same story, different chapter. I wouldn't be surprised with a 10-13 loss season, a 5 or 6 seed and a 2nd or 3rd round exit. Not to mention, NOT winning the SEC tournament. I haven't forgot about the loss 2 years ago. I have thought about it while typing some of my posts. But I also haven't forgotten about the 2nd round losses too.
  7. Well for one, I think it would be hard to not be better than last year's team. But I haven't really liked Tubby since about 2000 or so. It's the same thing every year. 1 Final Four 8 years ago. George Mason has the same number of Final Fours in that span as we do. UConn has won 2 titles in that span. Florida and Michigan St both have titles and multiple FF appearances since then. They've slipped and become just an average team. You can talk about the fresmen and possible recruits, but the same thing was said a few years ago when 3 All-Americans commited to UK and nothing changed. Just more 10 loss seasons. I'm a big Nebraska football fan. 2 years ago they went 5-6 and missed out on a bowl game for the first time in like 45 years. I didn't start disliking them then or start yelling "kill Callahan!!" So don't say that I'm one of those that start complaining after a couple of losses. I understand everybody's wanting UK to be better. Trust me, I do to. But it's just not going to happen. Not as long as he's there.
  8. Apparently not Coker. Well maybe he did, he just didn't want to admit it.
  9. IMO he's lost control of the team. They haven't been feared over the past few seasons and the only thing they can win is onfield fights. I think Shalala's plan is the same as always "do nothing and defend that's it's plenty."
  10. Is anybody other than Coker surprised? I'm not.
  11. I understand what you're saying. What I'm saying is, why does this guy think he's bigger than the NCAA? If the NCAA had a problem with it, then they should say, "you can play, you just can't win any awards." That's not what they said. So I don't see why this guy has such a problem with it.
  12. Very well put. I cannot/will not be for Kentucky as long as Tubby is there. I haven't always been like this. But years of doing nothing has changed my mind. I will be happy just cheering for nobody and only caring that Duke or UNC doesn't win it all. Sure Tubby was the coach in '98. Big deal. Not one player that he has recruited played in a final four. The fact that Tayshawn Prince didn't get to play in one was a disgrace, to me, after what he meant to Kentucky. I don't understand how a lot of Tubby's players either in up in trouble, or kicked off the team, or leave the team and everybody thinks that everything in Kentucky-land is all roses and sunshine. I just don't see it. I think Pitino would've been insulted by a 10 loss season, much less ever how many we've had over the past 5 or 6 years. He wouldn't have let it happen. Am I the only one that finds it strange that Tubby's teams at Tulsa and Georgia did the exact same thing as UK does now? A nice number of regular season wins, not really beating anybody ranked ahead of them and then an early tournament exit. That might work at those schools, but UK fans expect more than that.
  13. Doesn't make it right. If the NCAA is ok with him winning the Heisman, this guy should be too. Do you think all the past Heisman winners have had a clean record, even before winning?
  14. So he took $500 two years ago and he still has to pay for it? I don't think so. If the NCAA declares he's eligable to play, then he should be eligable for the Heisman. If the NCAA is ok with his time served as a punishment, that should be ok for everybody. Especially some no name writer in Tulsa or wherever.
  15. Fine. But you said character. I assumed you were talking about their off the field lives.
  16. Ummm......Michigan doesn't belong. But I ask you the same question, what's your point about the article that you posted. This is an SEC "overrated" thread. That article has nothing to do with being overrated. Deep down you don't really think USC deserves it, do you? You said it's likely they'll pass them. It still sounds like you think Michigan should be there again. Let's say by chance there is a rematch. What's in it for OSU? If they win people will say "they've already beat them once." If they lose AT BEST they'll split.
  17. I don't know how you say that UM was up big early. Ball St was ahead at the end of the first quarter. But anyway, let's get in the "way back machine" and go back a few years. Virginia Tech played 1-AA James Madison or some pathetic team like that and won. At the end of the season, they were undefeated and Nebraska's only loss came at Texas by 3 or 4 points. I think you know what happened. VT got smoked by FSU for the title and Nebraska beat Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl. Why was VT there? Because of Vick. Let's face it. The majority of the top schools schedule weak teams. Michigan does it, Florida does it, Nebraska does it. USC didn't do it. At least not as many. It is possible that they beat two teams in a BCS game. Michigan is #47 in SOS and USC is #48. With it being so close and UM having already lost to OSU, USC should be ahead of them. They've beaten more ranked teams, and after they beat ND this weekend, I don't see how they couldn't jump them.
  18. I'm not sure I agree with this statement. I do agree with TO, along with Chad Johnson's character being so low it's almost negative. What I don't agree with is other sports looking at character. If that's so, how can you justify the MLB HOF? Mickey Mantle was a constant drunk. Babe Ruth was a fat slob womanizer. Ty Cobb could possibly be the most hated person ever in baseball (although he's my favorite player of all time.) But they're all in the HOF based completely on their numbers. I don't see how you could say a person's character comes into play in other sports. I just don't see it.
  19. Which means what exactly? That Michigan deserves a second chance to do what they couldn't do the first time? I didn't agree with it with UF/FSU and I don't agree with it now. What has Michigan done to deserve it? They beat 1 ranked, overrated team, and then had OSU screw around and keep them in it? That's deserving of a rematch? I would venture to say that unless you're just a UM fan, the nation doesn't want a rematch. I would also venture to say that if USC hadn't lost to Oregon St, they would be ranked #2 anyway and we wouldn't be having this argument. I know "ifs and buts," right? IF Michigan had played a tougher OOC schedule and not played Ball St to a td and 2 point conversion from OT, then MAYBE I could see it. Besides, the article that you posted, which has NOTHING to do with the SEC being overrated stated that Meyer was just making a case for Flordia. That's not the case. If you read his original statement, he also talked about how it would help USC. The columnist didn't state that. It appears to me as though an idiot with a computer had a personal vandeta against Meyer and waited for him to say ANYTHING just so he could put him under a microscope and criticize anything and everything he says. Personally I agree with Meyer 100%. I've wanted a playoff for years now. It's funny how in the past, the NCAA football video games had a playoff system on it and everything worked out ok. But the real NCAA won't have anything to do with it.
  20. Really? Like what? That Nebraska is in the Big 12 South? That a good Utah team beating Pitt a couple years ago in the Fiesta Bowl has anything to do with this? That Florida's late season non-conference game is a weak thing to do, while he doesn't mention that Michigan did the exact same thing? Yes. Valid points.
  21. I doubt many people are shocked to hear you say that.
  22. I think a lot of people would agree that this is perhaps the best UK team since the days of Couch. Certainly the best team this century. With that said, why isn't it possible for UK to improve without the rest of the conference going down? I guess with Rutgers being such a force in the Big East, that means the BEast is a terrible conference? I mean, after all, they've only got 3 teams fighting for the title. I think the Big East is weak. But NOT because Rutgers is having a great year.
  23. This guy is a flaming idiot. David Letterman has said before that any idiot can get a tv show. I guess it's also true that any idiot can get a newspaper column. This guy makes very little sense at all. First of all, Nebraska is in the Big 12 NORTH. Not the South as he referred to. Second, I don't understand what Utah has to do with this. Sure, they got in the Fiesta Bowl because of the BCS. But if my memory is correct, they laid a beat down on Pitt. I would say that Utah team could have given some other BCS conference champs a run for their money that year. Florida may have a weak OOC schedule, but it's not different really than Michigan. Besides, how long has it been since Florida State has sucked this bad? This is the worst year Bowden has ever had, isn't it? So that shouldn't be Florida's fault. They tried to schedule a tough team and that team ended up stinking, they shouldn't be criticized for it. It's not like Florida is the first and only team to schedule weak teams. He complained because they scheduled Western Carolina in November. Big deal. Michigan scheduled Ball St in November. I don't see any difference. However, even if Florida wins out, which I don't think they'll beat Arkansas, but if they do and USC wins, it's a moot point. I think if USC beats ND, and I expect them to, USC will jump UM. I don't see Florida jumping UM, regardless of what they do.
