  1. I know it's recent, but the 2006 class A final between NewCath and Danville. NewCath is up before Danville scores on a screen pass right before half. newCath is down 20(?) with 8 minutes to go in the 4th and score 3 straight td's including a 70 yard screen pass to take the lead with very litle time left. someone from NewCath help me out. The mud bowl between CovCath and Highlands is another, as well as T vs. H
  2. My first time ever in Rupp was not for a UK game but the opening round of 2000 tournament. NewCath went that year and although they lost in the first round to Male I had a blast. I've gone every year since except 05 when i went to watch the Cats beat UC in the second round in Indy. My dad and my uncle have been going every year since the early 90's and go to pretty much every game. My second game was E-Town vs. LexCath when Barber took over the finals.
  3. Is this really debatable? First there's no way the KHSAA will let it happen. 1st This Tourney brings in way to much money. 2nd Lexington will never let it happen because this tourny brings in to much money to the city. 3rd the people will not let this happen. My father and his friends have been going down for years (just like thousands of others that go all week), My brothers and I as well as many of my buddies and their fathers and buddies have gone down for years. If you would class basketball no one would go. I wouldn't go to Rupp to watch the 4A final. The tourny is a great reason to have a mini vacation in March, to hang with the guys and talk basketball. I love sitting at the night games with my dad and brothers and watching kids play that you only read about or hear about but never see. Then go back to the hotel room and talk about the games you saw that day and the next days matchups. And the first thing you think about on Sunday morning when you get up is that the state tourney is only 361 days away. To class basketball would inevitably take away all of this. The Sweet Sixteen is the greatest show on earth for a reason, because it's special. I say all this to say I played football-never basketball- at a large 1A school and we never got past the second round in my 4 years. But I didn't complain, beacuse I knew that making it hard was what made it special to win.
  4. My vote is no doubt laettner. i give him credit he is arguably the greatest College player ever, but what he did to UK is unforgivable. If anyone other than himself would've stomped on timberlakes chest, they would've been gone. When he made that shot the only thought I had was how i could hurt him if i ever ran into him. Now that I am older I still feel the same way.
  5. Sounds like sour grapes. Why make excuses for the Technicals?
  6. Before Donovan won it all last year and before he finally won the sec (only the tourney in 05) all anyone did was say he couldn't win the big one. What about the Job Tubby has done. Since he got to UK he has won or shared the SEC regular championship almost every year. Not even Adolf Rupp won it every year. The coach has one subpar year last year and he's tomorrow's garbage? Give me a break. He can recruit obviously. This years Juniors were the #1 recuit class for 05. A coach can only coach he can't box out, make shots, free throws, rebound or make his players play any harder than they want to. All he can do is put them in position to make plays. Go TUBBY
  7. Newport Catholic = "The Humidor" sometimes it's so muggy it's sick
  8. I'm more a first time long time kind of guy. While I have no dog in this fight I believe (with what I have heard and read about Brossart) that if Wolfe and brossart are your two finalists then it's a win win situation. Wolfe will be a great head coach one day when he gets his chance and Brossart having head coaching experience in Ohio (and yes it is a different animal regardless of what some may think) is only a plus.
  9. haven't seen The Trains yet this season, but I'm getting nothing but positive feedback from all I Talk to. I'm going with the Trains in this one.
  10. What's the big deal about having your wallet on you and or your keys? How do you know he hasn't been victim to being ripped off? Maybe he just wants to get out of the gym ASAP. I ref football and I always have my keys on me unless it's a varsity game, but I never bring in a wallet.
  11. Bob is trying to get arise out of us all. As for the punt situation where the kicker was roughed. If we didn't get that call, it still would've been NewCath ball for the fact the ball hit off the foot of a Danville player and was recovered by a NewCath player.
  12. I thought the officiating was decent at best. I saw an obvious block in the back on Danville's long touchdown run right before half on #65 for NewCath right in front of the official, as well as the 3rd quarter TD pass for Danville in the 3rd Quarter when the player was clearly out of bounds. I know being a ref isn't easy, but if you get to the Finals you better be pretty darn good. I may be mistaken but doesn't the line judge have the recievers feet and the back judge the catch on a pass to the side of the endzone like that? Maybe Coach Harp did an excellent job of getting in his head.
  13. Wow is all I can say. After being there, seeing it with my own two eyes i am still having trouble believing what I just saw. I'm just as stunned as anyone else. Congrats to Danville on making the finals. They played tremendously. Seems like this year NewCath got the ball to bounce there way, where as in years past the ball bounced the other way. What an unbelievable game. This has to be one of if not the most exciting finals game in history.
  14. First he's called an Umpire, but I will agree even though I am a newCath guy. With the clock ticking away they went to exchange balls only to have the Umpire drop the exchange have the ball roll around and then lazilly(sp?) throw the ball to the white hat. I as Beechwoods coaches did would be livid that hurt alot. Overall I'm glad that they won't play in the playoffs anymore(jk) my heart can't handle another game of emotions turning so fast. First triumph then heartbreak, then triumph again. This game was like the first except the other way around and more meaningful. NewCath did something in the second half that they did not in the second half in the first game. Score a TD. And that was the difference. Hats off to the Tigers that last drive was very well executed. Like I said, the odds of having the ball that close with 4 downs and not scoring are definitly very low. If you play thos four downs again the tigers would score. It's just one of those things. Good luck Breds
