How do you think the small schools will do this year against each other? What players do we need to look out for this year? Week of Sept 3 Schedule Holy Cross at Lloyd Scott at Holmes NCC at Cooper Beechwood at Newport

I think Beechwood was slotted to play with the 7 but opted to play with the other eight. I think there will not be a Championship because of the change in the allowed Varisty dates. I think they took off a week of the season.

I heard that there would not be a championship in NKY this coming season. I also heard that the freshman league would be divided into: NCC, Holy Cross, Lloyd, Cooper, Holmes, Scott, Newport Boone, Campbell County, Connor, Highlands, Beechwood, Cov Cath, Simon Kenton, Ryle, Dixie

My understanding Week 8 and 9 do not count for the week 10 rankings for the East/West.

Before you shoot me, I made some assumptions of some of the teams records based on their performance against other teams. So based on these assumptions, here is who plays who. There are 16 teams in the NKY Freshman League. They were split into East and West. This leaves each team with 7 "District games". There is then 2 weeks of none district play. It looks like most teams picked up rivals from the opposing district. Week 10 is when the Championship is played. I think One plays One, Two plays Two and so forth. But this is the first year in awhile that some of the smaller schools are playing with the 5a and 6a teams (Beechwood, NCC, Holy Cross, Newport, Lloyd), so I do not know if this format is going to be what happens for Week 10.

The small schools split into 2 divisions. (Beechwood, Holy Cross, NCC, Newport, Lloyd) (Bellevue, Dayton, Brossart, Ludlow, Walton) playing 9th/10th graders Because of this, it is my understanding that there will not be a small school championship.

What are Gallitan, Grant, and Pendleton doing as far as a Freshman schedules?

I do not think that the A/AA NKY Freshman group is having a championship game this year. With only 5 teams (Beechwood, Lloyd, NCC, HC, Newport), I do not see a championship having much meaning anyway. I have to agree with Mexitucky, having 5 teams play each other twice is not a good idea. I hope changes are made for next year.

Brossart Freshman will be playing a JV schedule just like the freshmen at Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton, and Walton Verona. The talk of a merger between NCC and Brossart was discussed back in the early 1990' and it was stopped then. NCC is in the midst of funding raising that will include several new classes and the final goal is to but a artificial turf field on the hill. After spending that much time and effort, why would NCC want to combine with Brossart? As far as enrollment goes, I would assume they are hoping to have the same success as Holy Cross as far as increased enrollment that may be attributed to football. As far as having a field to play on for home games; Newport, Highlands, Beechwood, CovCath, and soon to be Thomas More all have artificial turf. Are telling me that Brossart will not be looking at these fields to play home games?

I remember reading an article on Zach Kiernan and Frank Jacobs stating that Frank Jacobs 1987 was one of six NCC players to be named "That's MY Boy." Rick Lehmkuhl 1991 was another. Who are the other 3? The Cincinnati "That's My Boy" has their own website. Is there one for NKY? If not, why not?

I am looking for a website that lists the past NKY "That's My Boy Award" Winners. If not, I am sure that the members will be able to come up with the complete list.

Looking at last years schedules, most of the A/AA division also played a 9 game schedule.

A - Beechwood, Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton, Brossart AA - NCC, Newport, Llyod, Holy Cross Minus Brossart and Bracken, these were the same schools in the small A (A/AA) division in NKY last year.

This is an 8 game season. Who are the 5 teams mentioned aboved going to play to get a 10 game schedule?

Just heard that Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton, Brossart are not going to play a true Freshman Schedule. This leaves Beechwood, NCC, Holy Cross, Lloyd, and Newport to find freshman opponents.

The last years Lloyd Freshman coaching staff put together a tough team last year. I hate to hear that the Head Coach lost his job. What is his name and any word on if and where he will coach next year? Is he a teacher or just a coach?
