  1. Ryle will be in the top 10 when it matters, at the end of the year.
  2. Sounds like a great game. Maybe a case of the Sports Illustrated jinx? Wouldn't want to be Manual.
  3. I guess we get to see Friday night if you are right. NC comes calling. I look for Ryle to beat NC.
  4. I did not see this coming. Congrats to the Community!!!
  5. Hey PBoy, I agree with some of your points. The play calling was very, very poor and predictable and I hope it's only because the QB is out right now. Glen Este pushed CovCath around pretty good at a scrimmage I watched so you are very wrong that CovCath and Beechwood would beat GE by at least 14 based on what I saw. No way. Highlands is the best team up here IMO and the only team in NKY that would beat GE this year. My favorite play of the game was when #8 from Ryle absoulutely decked #32 and knocked him out of the game for a short time. #25 will be at WR when the Qb returns. You are absolutely correct about not easy to move the ball vs. 9 defenders in the box. Things look bright to me this year at Ryle. They will have a very good season and will not surprise me if they end up at the top of the NKY 4A heap.
  6. 1-Birds 2-CovCath 3-Ryle 4-Beechwood 5-NCC 6-Simon 7-Campbell 8-Dixie 9-Boone 10-Conner
  7. Today, I saw at least 4 players going both ways and 2 others in on some O and D series. In the heat, it just wasn't going to get it done. The only player from GE that I noticed going both ways was cramping pretty bad, too.
  8. From the predicition thread by fballstud06: "Ryle will be outmatched in this one...I'm going to have to take Glen Este in a romp like last year... Glen Este 42 Ryle 7 Hey, at least you called our 7 points correctly. I agree that Ryle must pass more and I bet they will once they get their 1st team QB back. Who knows? By the way, the game was not a romp for GE. In the first half, I bet GE had 60 yards of offense. They just wore Ryle out in the second half. I'm sure playing a good team like GE will make Ryle even better.
  9. Too early to tell. We'll know a lot more after September 15.
  10. Ryle will be just fine when they get their QB and two other starters back. I thought they played with a tremendous amount of intensity today and just tired out in the fourth quarter against a GE squad that pushed CovCath around pretty good in a scrimmage that I saw.
  11. Ryle will be just fine when they get their 3 starters back including their QB, who is a very good passer. I look for them to rebound and start a LONG winning streak next week at home. The Raiders just wore down in the fourth quarter after holding GE in check during the first half. Good job but a disappointing finish to the game. You can't beat a good team like GE without a passing game.
  12. Highlands is a very good football team. Unfortunately for Conner, they have no chance to compete 1st team vs. 1st team for 4 quarters in this game.
  13. Ryle has a much better kicking game than GE and that will be a factor, too. I agree with a one TD spread. It will not be a "name your score" special like last year's 42-12 debacle.
  14. We will just have to go out and prove ourselves. I like it! It's better to be talked well about after a game than before it.
  15. That is true. And, some of those 18 were 3-year starters with D-1 capablilities. This will be a close game even with Ryle missing 3 very good starters including an excellent QB.
  16. If free thinker was being paid to offend people, he certainly performs well. I guess he would then be called "fee stinker"??
  17. So, you are telling me that Pendleton, a brand new program, was scheduled in order to strengthen your team for district play or just pick up an easy win? South Laurel is not a very tough team IMO and would win 1 or 2 games in NKY 4A district.
  18. This year's Ryle team seems to have great senior leadership and good morale and they are not feeling sorry for themselves just because 3 starters are out for the game. Granted, it's always tougher to win with backups but I like what's going on in Raider Nation. Last year's team had no chance vs. an experienced and fine senior-filled GE team that had multiple D-1 athletes. GE's team this year looked good on D but not nearly as imposing on offense. Team conditioning and turnovers will determine the outcome in a hard-hitting game.
  19. In the afternoon heat, depth will definitely be a huge factor. I would guess that Elder pulls out the win in the second half but we're certainly rooting for the Colonels, Color Blue.
  20. I do not look for Holmes to have any trouble with Holy Cross or Pendleton. The pre-season schedule will not help Holmes to prepare for the better teams in 4A district play. You only get better by playing good teams in non-district games.
  21. Gibson and Haught make SK a much better team this year. I look for SK to make the playoffs.
  22. This will be a head knocker. Way too much stock is being placed on how Ryle looked vs. CovCath in the first half when our QB went down and we were out of sync offensively and had no Vince Murray on either side of the ball. Ryle was fine in the third quarter with our starters vs. CovCath's starters in that scrimmage. Ryle is better than last year and Glen Este is not as strong as last year on the offensive side of the ball. GE is very tough on D but I look for a close, hard-hitting ball game that will go to the team that makes the fewest turnovers. This will not be a blowout game to many people's surprise.
  23. This is exactly what I have been saying. The winner of Holmes-Conner would be ranked as #6 after week one in 4A and still be in the mix. However, the loser of that game will have zero chance to make the playoffs IMO. It should be very interesting this year.
