Wow - Beaumont named Mr. Football already???? Lots of football to be played and many games to be won, however, I think its a little early for anyone to be claiming the title of Mr. Football..... He may earn it down the road, but I suspect it wont be a runaway. I would anticipate that he will have inflated numbers in games against weaker competition. When the competition stiffens, his numbers will drop significantly. Would be great to see him stay in town at UofL. Best of Luck to him this year and next....

Does anyone know the the game schedules for the Fox 19 Prep Classic? Are there going to be several games? Who is playing who outside of X vs. HHS?

I dont see any major problems in going to a 6 class format. Your going to have to be in a district somewhere so line em up and play.... Only concerns I have are with the travel required for district games and the difficulty in scheduling games. Travel that requires greater than 1.5 hours to a ball game is not really in the best interest of the kids, fans and game itself. Don't get me wrong, road trips for playoff games is what its all about and part of the equation if one is to win it all. I am concerned for extended travel on school buses when its not really necessary! I can't imagine that one would be ready to play a football game on Friday night in Sept. when Temperature is 85+F at game time, after having riden to the site in a non airconditioned bus for 2+ hours.... Not the best circumstances to perform your best. I would also anticipate that the traveling fan support may suffer as a result of the distance. All of this is not good for the HS football!!! The scheduling of games to fill a 10 game regular season could become an issue. Time will tell on this one. Additional financial burden will be placed on many schools (Travel expenses and lost revenue). Many of the larger schools will be able to absorb the cost, the smaller schools will be squeezed..... This is not good for HS football.... I support a private school and I feel that the 6 class format will have very little impact on the whole scope of things. I believe that the spirit of the change was to give more the opportunity to participate in the post season and win championships. This will be accomplished, however, many medium and smaller schools (in all classes) will be making sacrifices for the benefit of a small number of schools. Not sure this is in the best interest HS Football..... Whats done is done, Line em and lets play.....

Who actually votes on and awards the "Mr. Football" Award in the state of Kentucky? Is there a set of criteria or is it just opinion based off of performance? When is the announcement made?

I hung a few sheets in my days. It became a tradition. All of the sheets I was involved with were in good taste, really. There may have been a derogatory message in the sign, but it was in good taste. Now, some others (from the other part of town) would spray paint messages on overpasses I-64 W which were totally out of class and taste.... Does anyone remember these?? Decorum prohibits me from describing the text. I can remember some of my buddies telling me that my sheet actually made it into the weed locker room..... Must of been pretty good....

Where abouts exactly is new Dixie Heights stadium? How many fans will it seat? What is typical attendance at Dixie home games? What kind of locker room facilities will it have? It looks to be a very nice facility from the pictures. I can imagine that the coaches, players and fans are chompin at the bit to see opening night.... Any new traditions (pregame etc.) to be started or old ones carried forward with the new stadium? Good Luck this season from a W-L perspective as well as that new stadium!!!!

JH played an outstanding game against x in the playoffs last year. They did an outstanding job of taking full advantage of the home field and all the fixins. My hats off to them... I would anticipate that they will be right back in the thick of things again this year...... This time, they just might get the big W... My only suggestion would be for them to fix the scoreboard. Had a short in it and one could never really know how much time was in the game.... Great Fan support, very nice school building and stadium.... May want to think about expanding visitor seating if hosting a regional final this year.....Future looks very bright for this upcoming program.....

How does one measure potential without a legitimate measuring stick?? Last year should be taken into consideration, it is the only objective measure we have....

Coach Petrino didn't offer the UofL indoor complex??? Interesting???

What conventional or unconventional wisdom says put X and T in the same district? What does this accomplish? Any and every tournament Ive drawn up, wheather it be pingpong, horseshoes or pool, I always try to split the teams such that the talent is approximately even. If not, then you have two of the top teams playing in the first or second round... thus providing teams 5 thru ten a chance to play in the semi finals...... Is this a quota system???

I not aware of any other 4A team that won the championship and returns their qb ( Mr. Football candidate ). Returns an OC where he has a proven track record of scoring 40+ points a game. How could anyone vote against the Rocks??? Their record at "defending a title" is pretty good..... I know a lot of football is yet to be played and rankings go out the window on the first kickoff (against a quality opponent), but, History tells us that the only team truly deserving of a PRESEASON No. 1 is Trinity.....

Not sure the old or the new system is "corrupt", but take care of business and just WIN BABY WIN.... Winning solves alot of problems, it actually eliminates 85% of all problems.... if you never loose, then 99% of your problems are solved..... Simply put, JUST WIN!!!!!!!!

Male has had some very good teams in the past, looks as if this might be their year. I suspect trinity and st.x will have a little to say about those preseason rankings.... Let the games begin, lets see who is really the front runner for the 4A title after 3 or 4 games.... Long season, although the cream will rise to the top fairly quickly, I still feel the 06 champ will have some battle scars....

Looks as if the Rocks should be No 1 preseason....defending champ and #15 in the nation, nobody can touch that....

Playing BG in their home town will be quite a task. BG is a very sound opponent for the opening game of the season....

Great thread and great opening game for both teams. I see the Tigers by three touchdowns when its all over... Nothing against BG.... They could give St.X troubles for a while, I think this set of Tigers has some business to finish.... Being the early game will certianly help.... much better than starting at 11:30 pm Louisville time (last year...) I will be attending again this year and expect to see a very, very competitive game.... We will find out early if the men are ready to play....

Your point is very valid, some of the favorites have less than extremely difficult schedules.... soft is a more accurate description....
