  1. Very well said Ram. It doesn't matter how many thousands of kids attend your school, it's how many athletes decide to come out and play. Sometimes the numbers just don't match up, which is kind of what I see going on at Ashland right now. It seems that while they have great teams, year in and year out, they just haven't had the ridiculous talent that they are accustom to.
  2. I think Fairview should be ranked ahead of Ashland... Early season rankings are all about wins and losses. When Ashland wins a game they could be ranked above Boyd. Until then, they are right where they need to be.
  3. I agree. I'm a huge UK fan, but this win doesn't make us the "capital of football". Give me 4 or 5 wins in a row and we cal call it that. Just not right now. Last years win was huge. This years win was big as well, I just don't get the same satisfaction knowing how horrible UL is. Also, if we're going to call Lexington the "Capital Of Football" because of two seasons, we might as well call Louisville the "Capital Of Basketball" of the same time period.
  4. Boyd (1-0) plays at Russell (1-0) this week. Boyd played well in their opener against East Carter. Russell dominated Greenup in their opener. I look for a close first half with Russell opening things up in the second half. Boyd will have to keep the score pretty low to have a chance in this one. I'll go with: Russell 35 Boyd 21 Thoughts ?
  5. I think a lot of people aren't voting on the right criteria though 98. As I read it, your question was a simple yes or no question. Must a player move (transfer) to a larger area to be noticed by college coaches ?
  6. That's terrible. Those liquor drinkers may win you some ball games, but they'll eventually get you fired and leave your team on probation. I'm with some of the other posters on here. I love to win, but I'd rather do it the right way. UL is seeing right now what happens when you sacrifice too much to win.
  7. That is great news. I wonder how many of the other 5% are police, firemen, ect ?
  8. Hartline's ability to throw the deep ball is my biggest concern. I hope this is something that was partly due to him being nervous. Honestly, some of his deeper passes looked like I was out there playing. You absolutely have to be able to complete some down field passes in order to have a running threat. Like many others have said though, he threw no INT's and wasn't sacked any. I'm very happy with those two stats. Also, he beat UL today and more importantly is 1-0 as a starter. You can't complain about that.
  9. Hunter's receivers didn't help him out much either. Some of those balls should have been caught. Not all of them, but some. Classy post Duece:thumb:
  10. Maybe UL should have scheduled this game a little later in the season. It would have given Cantwell a little more time to get adjusted.
  11. That's what I was most pleased with out of Hartline....Zero INT's. He threw the ball away when he didn't have a man open. I guess at the end of the day, I wasn't impressed, but it could have been much worse ( he could have played like the more experienced, more game ready, Cantwell ) My main concern is with zero threat of the deep ball, the run game will be tough to get going. Hartline looked decent on the short stuff but just terrible on anything past 15 yards.
  12. In your opinion do you believe if UL has a terrible season (4 wins or less) Coach K will be let go ?
  13. Any chance both teams start a different QB next game ?
  14. I'm sure a lot of posters will be waiting for this reply.
  15. My thoughts exactly :thumb: A 2nd win in a row over a rival and a 1-0 start for UK. A 2nd loss in a row to a rival and an 0-1 start for UL. This is a good win no matter how you spin it.
  16. 3 interceptions and one lost fumble for Cantwell today ?
  17. Every linemans dream  I almost did that in high school once. Picked up the fumble and made it to around the 4 yard line. It wasn't meant to be however, I didn't have the speed and was sadly caught from behind and tackled by the quarter back
  18. Any chance we see both teams start new QB's next week ?
  19. Hit him in the chest. That just sums of UL's day. Their WR's are horrible.
  20. I'd love to put it in the end zone one more time today. To make it a total of twice:lol:
  21. Another Pick !!! This score might actually end up looking uglier than the game was.
