Study: Less than 1/2 of US homes have landline phones.
Theoldguy replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in Technology
I am old and :lol2: both my wife and I have cell phones and we haven't had a landline in years and years and years. In my former job I was required to have one and be available 24/7 (first cell phone I had was called a brick) so after about a year or two and the landline never ringing, I purchased a cell phone for the boss and we have never looked back. -
Most Memorable Homeruns- What Tops Your List???
Theoldguy replied to Science Friction's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
Was lucky enough to have attended that game at Riverfront the day when Aaron tied the Babe. I still have the ticket stub and the scorebook somewhere around our home! -
The Boss and I were lucky enough to see him live in Las Vegas. What was so nice it wasn't a huge venue but rather a small and intimate stage and he took a couple of question and request. BTW my Father-in-Law was, in fact, a Lineman for Cincinnati Gas and Electric and he loved that song and I mean loved that song!

Seed are not set, CovCath still has Holmes and HC to play. Not sure about the dates (the week prior to Memorial Day?), however, it is being played at CovCath.

Theoldguy replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
It will be the first (I believe) game in the new Wooten Stadium with permeant lights, so the place will be packed and the excitement will be over the top, even before the kickoff! -

Cincinnati to host NCAA 1st/2nd Round in 2022
Theoldguy replied to Walter's topic in College Basketball
No major pro team has ever played in the 40-year-old Coliseum, only a handful of minor league hockey teams. A shiny new arena would certainly check one box for Cincinnati to nab an NBA or NHL team, but they’d be in line behind several more deserving cities on the theoretical expansion list. While that isn't quite true. Most on this list weren't even born yet when the Cincinnati Stingers of the WHA played in the brand new Arena. https://shlabotnikreport.wordpress.com/2016/01/15/forgotten-franchises-the-whas-cincinnati-stingers/ -

I wonder why I bother to email in the scoring line of our HS games. Did Umpire CB Bucknor Bet on the Braves Tonight?
Theoldguy replied to Wireman's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
Umpires all have a different strike zone and players, (batters or pitches doesn't matter) should have a understanding of each umpires strike zone. Now in saying that in viewing the game this gentlemen doesn't even belong behind the plate in a kids pickup game. -
I have to believe if his girlfriend and daughter were receiving death threats and indeed he knew he was guilty of the 1st murder, then maybe just maybe he had a feeling that if killed himself they would be safe and it would be better to kill himself, then rot in prison. Just my opinion!

Moeller (OH) 4 Covington Catholic 2
Theoldguy replied to Theoldguy's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
The picture shows what would have been the 2nd out (#10 Deeds), (1st out was #43 Schaffer on a sac bunt 1-3) of the inning. The batter at the plate at the time of the SB (#2 McDonough), then hit a pop up very near the backstop (the backstop is as far back, as it is at the Florence Freedom Field) that Kennedy made a great catch of and that would have been the 3rd out of the inning, so no HR and CovCath would have come up to the plate in the top of the 6th inning with a 1-1 tie. -
