  1. CovCath JV defeats the Ryle JV in a game that neither deserved to lose. Bottom of the 8th Schuh K's 1 out, no men on Diskin hits a single to right field, man on 1st, 1 out Pierson sac bunts Diskin to 2nd man on 2nd, 2 outs McGinness gets IW men on 2nd and 1st two outs Forget the young man's name but he hits a ball to no man land in center field, too deep for the SS/2nd basemen to get to and too shallow for the CF to get to but he gives it a great try but can't come up with the ball CovCath scores the go ahead run to win the game. Outstanding pitching duel between the two young pitchers! CovCath plays TBD at 7 pm tonight at Scott High School
  2. And I am saying because of Perez, the Reds were that team with Rose, Bench and Morgan, etc.. I had the unique opportunity to be in that Clubhouse from time to time for a couple of years and spent many hours with some team members during and after the season was over during the days of the Big Reds Machine and Perez was the glue that kept the egos of those superstars of Bench, Morgan and Rose in check and focused on being a team and while Votto might have better some better stats you replace Voto with Perez on that team and the Big Red Machine would have broken down due to egos. By the way it much easier to be playing the game when the season isn't on the line each and every day, meaning what pressure is Votto under to win a World Championship much less a National League Pennant with the Reds. I will take Tony over Joey, because Baseball is indeed much more than just numbers.

  4. Let's just wait and see Joey numbers when he plays as many years as Tony did. O, and since baseball is more of a team game, just how many rings does Joey have and in this area who do you think is much more respected by the fans, as a leader and team player! Joey or Tony?
  5. Need to also remember the talent back in the 70's was much better than the watered down lineups that the MLB puts on the field nowadays. Back in the 70's the players also weren't treated like china dolls, if there was a game, you played, days off, you got to be kidding me.
  6. I will take Perez, if there was a man on third with less than 2 outs, that man came home on Tony RBI. You all realize, that to win a game, you have to score runs and all Tony did was knock runs in year after year after year.

  10. My guess and it's only a guess, they won the #1 seed and graduation might play a part in it.
  11. CovCath 1st run scored in the 2nd innings (no offense to NCC and I will not name players) but Senior Ben Gerdes who usually CR or PR and PH started today. Ben swung and hit the ball straight down and it bounced up high around the plate. Ben took off and an NCC player threw it over the head of an another NCC player. Ben kept running and while heading to second, another NCC player threw the ball nowhere near an NCC player and the ball went all the to the 3rd base foul line no where near 3rd base. Ben kept running and wound up scoring a run (unearned) on a ball that didn't travel much more than two or three feet. Kids all mobbed Ben good naturally and insisted on it being an HR. Of course, it wasn't but after Schaefer hit his Grand Slam HR in the bottom of the sixth, they were comparing HR distances. It was indeed a great day for our CovCath Seniors. I had no intention of making fun of any NCC player but wanted Senior Ben Gerdes to get some love!

  20. I know Musco Lighting did the work setting it up etc. and they are the ones who brought in the lights we used at the end of the season, but....I will ask our AD if I see him today to be certain. Musco Sports Lighting, LLC | World Class Leaders in Sports Lighting
  21. Sorta neat in seeing these LED's in action. No spillage of light, on and they are on, off and they are off. How they are set up (meaning to make sure all area's of the field are lite) with a laser is really cool. Not at all surprised that the CovCath Administration went with the newest and best lighting system as in the long run, they will be much more cost efficient.
