I thought the officiating was OK except for the touch fouls on the SK center. Agree that SK would probably have won if Hester hadn't gotten injured. I don't think the best team won this game but that's basketball sometimes.

I don't know of a tougher place to win then at Scott County. I will be surprised if Mason comes within ten.

I encourage anyone who hasn't been here to go check it out. I think it is neat seeing people like Rex Chapman, Mike Fields, Tubby Smith, Rick Pitino, and Travis Ford come and watch all of the homegrown talent Interesting point. Several seasons ago I sat next to Ross Neltners' dad and found it interesting to talk about Ross's plans etc. The next year I sat next to Wayne and Rex Chapman and found out from Rex that he thought Lofton was going to get shorted because neither UL or UK had a place left for him. People were projecting him to go to one or the other at the time. Then last year there was this bald guy behind me who was very knowledgeable and pleasant . I saw him about a week later on TV when his Vandy team played UK. The Vandy shirt should have given me a clue that he was Gene Stallings. Sam Bowie is often there as is Joe B. Hall and others. I don't make a point to sit by anyone particular, it just seems to sort of happen when you sit on the LexCath side.

Right now I agree with the top three being SC, TC and BS but it's too early to exclude any of the top eight teams or so. I would have to consider Mason County as the favorite against LexCath at this time when the game is at Maysville. I also think the Knights were caught off guard by the Creekers and will be a better team for it.

This was a very intense game with many forced turnovers by both teams. TC won because their guards were successful in disrupting LC's offensive flow and the TC inside people are excellent leapers and got many second chance points. Tates Creek was the best team I've seen this year tonight. The game was even until the third period when TC broke out to a nine point lead but LexCath immediately cut it back to two. In the fourth period TC built up an eight point lead and LexCath couldn't come back.

24 teams, 39 games, two gyms, you're going to have a few lightly attended games in the early rounds. I have been to several full houses in the later stages.

It seems that every time Catholic plays Scott County, it is Matt Walls making the critical shots. He gets my vote.

Great game and fun to watch. Well officiated despite some comments here about the fumble in the endzone (LexCath had a few TDs called back because of offensive pass interference too). CCH running backs were hard to bring down. Guy had the dropsies which is atypical, but we wouldn't have got here without him. Revere made many spectacular catches but showed he wasn't perfect when he juggled the one late which would have been the go ahead TD. I wonder about the drive CovCath has to make next week and it's effect on the players, of course mountain teams have to do this or worse all the time. I'll be rooting for CCH the next two weeks but no more. Go Colonels!

Revere is only 5'9 and weighs 150 lbs. he couldn't possibly cover Bovard and company so you probably should throw to his man, after all you do want to go to the other team's strength right? There is nobody else you have to worry about. We give up tons of yards every game and have no defense. The stats don't lie!

Maybe if you brought some rubber-soled shoes.

I was mainly talking about this board. There are Catholic supporters at every game complaining about every call that doesn't go our way but I expect better from the posters on this board who seem more knowledeable than the average fan at a game.

Hancock has handled the pressure of following in Burke's shadow very well. He has shown a lot of maturity and is a team leader. He knows who his playmakers are and gets them the ball. He probably won't win Friday's game for LexCath but he won't lose it either.

CovCath needs to play field position and play within themselves to win. LexCath has to find a way to make big plays to win. I hope the Covcath advantage in line play I saw last year is lessened this year. I think it will be because LexCath is bigger than usual, not as good as CovCath probably, but maybe enough to even things out. Ideally for LexCath, it will be a warm breezy day for November.

Facts? FC had 4 penalties and LexCath had 11. Most of LexCath's penalties were offsides because FC was yelling snapcounts while LC was on offense. One offsides flag was thrown by the official behind the play while the sidelines officials didn't throw one. He must have had good depth perception. Not a rant against the officials, just trying to show no one is perfect and calls went both ways. I can't remember a game FC has lost where some fan didn't complain about officiating. Considering the disparity in flags I guess I might even be complaining if LexCath had lost. I hope this series can continue in the future because it is just now becoming fun. Hoping Ammons decides to play safety for UK.

Most games turn on big plays. I think LexCath has more big play makers such as Revere, Caldwell, Guy and Israel. I also think that CovCath is the more solid team and will do better if they play conservatively rather than taking risks against LexCath's explosiveness. CovCath's kicker concerns me greatly.

You make a good point about LexCath losing Burke and Burbage. I don't think LexCath is quite as good as last year overall although they aren't too far off that mark, time will tell. If CovCath is indeed better than last year, I can see why you would favor them. LexCath is tougher against the run this year I think, which makes up somewhat for the loss of B & B. I remember CovCath having a lot of strong athletic players last year. I don't think your Qb will be as tough to defend on the run/pass as Ammons, your line play was very good I'm sure, as was FC's. You have a clear advantage in your kicker which takes away one of LexCath's biggest weapons, the return game. The wind could be a big factor especially if it is strong and keeps your kicker from reaching the endzone on kickoffs for a couple quarters. Revere will shutdown your best receiver and Guy will equalize your number two receiver. Revere also has replaced Burbage at receiver for LexCath and you will need to double cover him which frees up someone. It should be very interesting.

This is a tough one to call. Neither team has played a common opponent. Both have taken care of business within their district. CCH had two games against a single quality district opponent Highlands and won by a total of 12 points. LexCath beat Franklin County by a total of 9 points in two meetings. LexCath was blown out at St. X 47-0 but it was the first game for a new Qb, OC, and HC. CCH played several tough games against OH teams but lost all three handily. LexCath has the homefield advantage and won last year, but CCH gave LexCath it's closest game last year. I expect a similar result as last years game. Neither team has an obvious advantage. LexCath's miracle finish yesterday proves they have some grit which should help them if they get down again. Historically LexCath would have lost such a game except for last year. LexCath came out lethargic against Franklin County and then got very nervous when they got behind. They know now what they need to do to prepare themselves for such a game as this. I don't know who will win but will go with the Knights by a fieldgoal.

Ammons does everything for FC. In addition to Qb, he is a safety and he returns punts. He is in on every play it seems. Has to be one of the best conditioned athletes I've ever seen play. Franklin did not choke. They didn't give LexCath anything, when they did make a mistake, they stiffened up and stopped LexCath on four downs on their last possession in regulation time. Hats off to FC.

I forgot about the Bluegrass Bowl since I didn't attend. Seems like LexCath had almost as many people at FC this year as FC. A lot more than FC will bring tonight I'll bet. This is really the first year that FC has brought a competitive team so the crowd may be bigger but anyone can still get a ticket I'm sure. Does LexCath even have a booster club? You apparently know a lot about the inner workings of the school.

I don't think LexCath has ever had a sellout. This will not be one. FC plays on natural grass and I don't think they have played on fieldturf this year. They only play on it when they visit LexCath. It will favor Catholic's overall team speed.

I have to go with the LexCath at Highlands game last year. I love the surroundings there and the school building across from the stands echoes the crowd noise and I guess that infernal cannon which we didn't get to hear much.

Two evenly matched teams but I have to give the edge to CovCath again. CovCath 24 Highlands 21.
