Refs didn't even know where the ball was. If his knee was down they would have blown the whistle. If they got it correct, it was a total guess. How do you call it back when the play was NEVER whistled dead?

Refs didn't have a clue! Newcath returns fumble for touchdown and refs didn't even know where ball was. No whistle blown and NCC player in endzone with the ball.

The first meeting was closer than the score indicated. Holy Cross had a really nice drive snuffed out by an interception in the end zone. Had they scored there it would have been 14-7 and a different ballgame. Instead, NCC scored next making it 21-0 and that doesn't fit the HC game plan. Holy Cross needs to keep the score to within 7 so they can stay with the "ground and pound" offense. Without a viable passing game, NCC will try to load the box and string out the sweeps. Being so one dimensional makes it tough to have sustained drives but does open the opportunity for big play strikes. Although HC will not be able to be effective with a consistent, short passing attack, NCC pass defense will need to stay disciplined and protect against the "long ball".

This discussion is likely suited for the VBall forum but, if KHSAA tried to interfere with club volleyball it would cause problems for HS volleyball. I believe at one point the KHSAA had considered restricting HS athletes from playing any club sport during the school academic year. This had little impact on basketball and soccer because those club sports are primarily in the summer. However it would have heavily impacted the club volleyball players that play from December through June. The vast majority of high level vball players would forgo school volleyball in order to play club.

NKYVC coaches will dictate that but other clubs will work around it if girls play school sports.

I don't necessarily think it is all on the club volleyball coaches. Playing two full-time sports concurrently is too much on their bodies. Also doesn't leave much time to study.

Townsend is awfully good as well, but missing Durham will be a problem for Lloyd. I believe they will need to throw much more than they want to in order to be successful. Or they could try a lot of onside kicks.

It is a shame that, many years, the best two teams in the state don't get to participate in the state tournament. However, it happens that way in other sports as well.

So you think Glasgow and O Catholic would beat NCC and Holy Cross? Come October, I tend to lean on defense and think some of these teams give up too many points to 1A and 2A teams. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this one about Bracken County Polar Bears. I understand that the original gymnasium was a good trek from the school across an open field. The basketball team would make the trip across the frozen field everyday for practice and someone remarked "there go the Polar Bears". Again, I have no clue on the accuracy of the story, but liked it.

If Durham and Hatton aren't both back next week, it will be tough for Juggs to stop Holy Cross rushing attack. Hatton looked like he should be ready next Saturday, I hope report on Durham is good.

I don't mean it was flagrant. But a player with possession on the ground should not be subject to someone hitting them. Even on an onside kick. That's a late hit any other time of the game.

On 3rd kick, NCC player catches ball sitting on the field and gets speared by Lloyd player leading with helmet. How this is not a penalty Is beyond belief.

You'd have to show me where anyone said ND wouldn't win the 9th region. I know the talk was about them being down this year but don't think anyone ever said they wouldn't win a weaker than normal 9th region. I think Cooper could take a set from them (already have) but don't think they could put 3 sets together. Nobody else is close this year.

I have seen Highlands and agree they are improved over past years. They also seem to have some young talent that bodes well for coming years.
