  1. Shake up in the 10th with Mason County win over George Rogers Clark. This one went down to the wire with GRC making 2 late 3 pointers and Keller Menke making 9 out of 12 foul shots in the 4th quarter. GRC started game up 9-2 but Mason closed the gap and traded leads. GRC leading by 1 at half time. Mason was up by as many as 10 in the 4th quarter. GRC tied it with 2:15 minutes to go. Mason took the lead with next possession and kept it for the remainder of the game.
  2. Why is Lape not playing ? Injured? Or is it the offense style? I also thought she was a top 10 pre-season player in the 8th.
  3. Congratulations to Coach Robbie Lucas and Coach John Hines, two great coaches and even finer men. You both are very deserving!!
  4. Any info on PT? Who are key players? Are they big or fast or both? What kind of offense do they run? Why the turnaround? Major changes? Thanks
  5. You would think that the logical decision would be to keep Coach Lucas but when is the administration been logical? Coach Lucas has done a great job and should be rewarded with this head coaching job!! win or lose tonight, the job should be offered to him, end of story. I pick the jumpers tonight in a great game tonight.
  6. Does anyone know if the game is streaming on the web? If not, can someone local post scores?
  7. Col Mike, I was not trying to ruffle your feathers. My kids currently go to Locust Grove Elementary. I do know Mr. Upchurch, he is a fine man but when you have a sports team with a $0 budget in a public school, I see a problem with that since the school system gets over 30 MILLION dollars from our property taxes alone a year. Yes, perhaps 90% won't play after their senior season so what? so we can take the emphasis off of sports? Athletics is very important. It helps build character, a strong work ethic, drive, confidence and I could go on and on. Just because we aren't training future hall of fame professional athletes doesn't mean we shouldn't put some more emphasis. When a team goes to the sweet 16 in boys basketball and they don't even let out the feeder schools, there is no emphasis. There are no organized sports until 6th grade, there is no emphasis. Thank goodness for OCYFL and Upward. I was just told recently that the middle school coaches don't even get paid. All volunteer work. God love them. When I say powerhouses, I was speaking more toward basketball since this is a basketball forum as well as illuding to football since I had first hand knowledge of the football budget when a friend started to apply for the OC job when it came open and he was told of the $0 budget for football. (needless to say he didn't apply) As far as other public schools that charge to play, I would like to know just how many. Because I am sure that the ones that don't far out number the ones that do. With 60 Million dollar budget (its on the website) for the school system you would think that wouldn't be the case. My kids are getting a good education but with 60 million they should be getting it all!!
  8. The reason that Oldham County is a revolving door on several coaching positions (besides the boys basketball at OC), is that there is no emphasis on athletics. I know before everyone starts bashing me that students go to school for an education, I do understand that BUT there is a happy medium and it is LACKING in Oldham County. There will never be any powerhouses in any sport coming out of this county until the there are lots of changes. Hopefully Coach Mullins will stay but I hope that he is not expecting too much support from the board office. This is the only PUBLIC school that I know that the student athletes have to pay hundreds of dollars to play a sport. NO other school system does this. This is ridiculous, especially if you have a couple of kids that play several sports. It could turn into over a thousand dollars a school year per student athlete. Good luck Coach Mullins. I just hope you are ready for what you are getting in to in Oldham County.
  9. JC is in a tough district with Sheldon Clark and Paintsville being some of the top contenders for the regional title. They graduated a lot of talent and experience. Will be a rebuilding couple of years. Also new coach after almost 2 decades with Wireman.
  10. The last I heard they still lived in the same house in the sub division across from Ryle's campus.
  11. This comes from other players on the team. I have not personally spoken with Doyle. She didn't start as a junior, so that may be why she didn't play again this year, they didn't graduate any starters and the only starter from last year not returning is the point guard. I don't know. I was just told she was focusing on music. The team is focused on the team that they have now and not looking as to who is "NOT" playing. They have a "play the hand you are dealt" mentality. Playing it well with 2 more wins today, one over Conner and one over a team from Ohio. They play again tonight. As far as running the point, it is Moran.
  12. Doyle is not playing, she decided to focus solely on music. She is a very talented singer. As for summer ball, this is very important, not your record but just getting better in general. Teams that work hard in the off season and have success in the off season will carry that over into the regular season. Especially for a team like Mason. They didn't have a good year in regular season and they were still learning the system and his style of ball and now I can tell you that they look great. All 7 of these girls have greatly improved individually as well as collectively. Fun to watch.
  13. EVERYONE has improved. It is amazing to watch these girls. The top 7 girls are interchangable. They all play about the same amount of minutes. This team plays tough defense (full court) and trust me playing 3 games a day in the summer this is not an easy task. They move the ball on offense, making several good passes and driving to create shots for other players. Menke, Queen, Smith, Moran, Menke, Moore, and Lykins are the 7 and any of them can start and any can play. Great core group. They will be fun to watch this season.
  14. When you go to camp, you play who they put you to play. They don't get to choose. They went to Morehead Camp and now University of Louisville's camp and as I understand it to EKU camp this week. What more are you wanting them to do exactly? The Lady Royals went 4-0 at MSU and 5-2 at U of L. They are really playing defense and moving the ball well. They have beat some very good competition.
  15. I was told that there is also one is USA Today, still looking for the link.
  16. Crawford had 33 points and 9 rebounds and fouls out for Corbin
  17. 2 guys have double doubles for Eastern and Dowe has like 27 points
  18. SK will win but it will be close. Breathitt goes to state almost every year. They are a powerhouse in their region but it is a weak region. I think SK will win and maybe two, they are in a tough bracket. It is march so anything can happen.
  19. 1- Iroquois 1- Montgomery 1- SK 1- Casey Co 1- LCA 1- Boone 1- Ohio 1- Henderson 2- Montgomery Co 2- SK 2- LCA 2- Ohio 3- Montgomery Co 3- LCA LCA State Champions Total Points 162
  20. Final Etown 51 Marion Co 46 Etown will be representing the 5th in Diddle.
  21. I picked Boone to win it. They looked good and seemed to be turning it on at the right time. Congrats and good luck at Diddle.
