I think the man that just beat the stuffings out of them, Artie Braden, was the best coach they had in a long while. He did a good job here at Bethlehem at Washington County and now John Hardin. The Burkhead guy has no credentials to speak of and wasn't that popular here. Carney probably would have done no worse this season. I don't care who coached that team, they were just plain bad. Washington needs some kids who can play basketball. That would be the first step.

JH schedule hasn't been that weak. Didn't they play in the LIT? They have played E-town, three times I believe, winning once. JH is pretty deep and has a chance to win the 5th region. Braden deserves it. He keeps proving people wrong every year.

That would make UK fans happy, wouldn't it? We'll see. I think as long as Petrino is around U of L can be very good year in and year out. Also, with Jurich as AD, U of L is in good hands. U of L may not ever be in Notre Dame's league, but they play a good brand of football and have put their share of players in the NFL as of late.

U of L is not a bad place to play buddy! I don't care if it is Notre Dame in the big picture. They don't have any trouble recruiting, period. Neither will U of L for that matter. U of L does pass the ball a little more. You are indicating that Notre Dame is sooooooo much better than U of L. I just happen to disagree. U of L is also putting out their share of NFL players lately and I think can be pretty good in the future.

Why not? No offense, but it is Petrino and his high octane offense. Tight end is a nice position to play at U of L. Some just don't want the Cards to get much better!

Mark Brown never played football? Really? Wow, he is one heck of a coach. But he is not leaving John Hardin. Why would he? Dugan is back at Nelson and he can create trouble and apparently has. Just speculation, derived from his history, but I will stop at that.

Bardstown always has a little speed. Every year. Their tradition is really unbelievable. What a great program!

The BOE is out of line. This is not an issue they should be dealing with. They have other issues far outweighing a football game.

Having UK connections really helps. Doesn't make you a great coach, but helps you get a job!

That is the way it should be. That is why I asked. You can open a big can of worms if you don't!

If Macy is taking a look at him he must see something! I think he is qualified to do just that. Probably more than us.

A coach doesn't have to be young to be effective. That crap gets old after awhile. And every young coach gets older eventually, so what do they do? Get to old to relate to the players or even coach. That is bull too. There are lots of coaches out there, young and older and old who can coach. Passion, enthusiasm and hard work are all a must. Don't put a number on it.

Which coach Downs?

Is he a certified teacher? That is my first question. Who will be assistants?

Now, we all know that you can shuffle your feet before you shoot, or change your pivot foot. But then UK players never do those things. I think Billy Packer knows what a walk is. Had it been the other way around, UK fans would be squawking too!

Actually Western is a tough place to coach because it is a tough place to teach. They have some talent. Wright did a good job of bringing some discipline into the program which was a doormat for awhile. Western was as bad as Shawnee at one time. Shawnee has some athletes and when they take the field they look good. But they just don't have the discipline and character they need to win. Western has some talent. Wright did a great job. Western still has some talent. Preston was an assistant at Danville. He should have some experience both teaching and coaching in the environment he is in. I think he will be a good fit.

Western is a tough place to teach and coach. Preston will have talent. But he is in the west end of Louisville and it is challenging. Hope he is up to the task!

I didn't know Boyd had left the Cards. But Western Kentucky is a good place to go and they have had a solid program. U of L has had an outstanding year recruiting. It could even get a litttle better in the next week or two. The Cards still have a shot at a couple of other big time players. The comment about the quarterback situation has not been well thought out. Ragone did not come highly rated to U of L, and Leflors was virtually unknown and fell into the Cards lap. Two pretty decent quarterbacks now on NFL rosters. Brohm will most likely have to play at least two more years now with the knee injury he just had fixed. Cantwell has proven he can play and still has a lot of upside. I would think a good prospect or two will take a look at the Cards and their high octane offense. They have reloaded with nice receivers and big, athletic lineman and should be pretty decent in years to come.

Louisville has a very nice class coming in with a nice group of young players already. This is a great recruit for the Cards. They have a good offensive line coach. Go Cards!

I was under the perception Louiville was harder to drive in, but the problem was, I had not driven enough in Louisville to know. Now I go to Louisville twice as much as Lexington. Again, they are both about the same distance from where I live. Louisville is no harder to drive than Lexington once you get familiar with the town. Also, I found the enviornment just as friendly and Louisville has very much to offer. The "little brother" reference would not be a reason to not host a state tournament and actually is a die hard UK fans perception. Lexington's Rupp Arena is a great host and a great place to play, but I still don't think many high school players are going to care where they play if they make it to the Sweet Sixteen. Either arena is a great place. I prefer Papa Johns stadium for football for one reason, chairback seating! Other than that, I wouldn't care. The KHSAA has to at least break even and whatever site that helps them do it should be the one along with all the other needed considerations. I think Eastern Ky University is still a little more convenient or central location than Western for the girls but that is only because of driving distance.

I think the tournament should be moved around or alternate years. I live about the same distance from both arenas. The girls state at Bowling Green is a long drive for those in the eastern part of the state. I think the site should be as neutral as possible. Louisville is not out of the way and they certainly are capable of hosting the state tournament. If I had the chance to go to the state tournament as a player, it certainly isn't going to matter if I play in Freedom Hall or Rupp. They are both great places to play basketball and the state of Kentucky should be proud of the history and traditions they both hold. And whether anyone is a UK fan, U of L fan, or in my case both, that should be the least of considerations. Proximity, hotels, restaurants, and other forms of entertainment of course are important. But the bottom line is the dollar. That is going to be the most important factor in site selection. Like it or not, Louisville is a nice city that has a lot to offer.
