  1. I hear conflicting things. Supposedly, they haven't even started interviewing yet, and there is another person going around telling people that the job is his...
  2. Looks like it is official... http://news.nky.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20071201/SPT030201/712010436/ Lucas to stay as Lloyd coach BY RYAN ERNST | [email protected] Lloyd football players, in the words of The Who, "meet your new boss - same as the old boss." Roy Lucas Jr., the Juggernauts coach for seven years before becoming the offensive coordinator and eventually the interim head coach this season, has decided to remain the head coach next season. "We're thrilled," said Lloyd athletic director Chad Molley. "You can't say enough good things about Roy. Everybody here, from the staff to the administration to the board office, knows that the program is in good hands with Roy." Lucas posted a 46-36 record in his first stint as head coach, including a trip to the 2003 state semifinals. At the time of his resignation, Molley said he wanted Lucas to remain the head coach. The school then hired Mike Yeagle and Lucas became an assistant. But Yeagle coached only one game for the Juggernauts, and Lucas stepped in to lead the Juggernauts to a 3-8 record and a first-round playoff loss. "I guess I just had a change of heart," Lucas said. "When I went back into the position - somebody had to do it - I realized how much I liked the job and how much I like our kids. They fought through a lot and they were extremely dedicated and hard-working. I realized how much I liked where I was. And I got a lot of encouragement at the end of the season from a lot of people. People really wanted me to stay." Lloyd will graduate 10 starters from this year's team - only three on offense. The Juggernauts should be led by a strong senior class in 2008, including receiver Roger Herthel, one of the top offensive returners in Northern Kentucky. "I think it's going to be exciting," Lucas said. "We've got hard-working kids. And when you have kids that have some talent to go along with that, then you've got something. We've got some kids that have the ability to do something special."
  3. Tiger1, did you finally give up on Scott?
  4. This is the field... Sorry. Couldn't find actual pictures but I found some that were fairly close.
  5. Sure... This is the Eagles Nest
  6. Supposedly, they will have a new coach in place early January.
  7. Actually, I would love to be the coach or AD, but I don't think I could afford the pay cut. But, being the gander, I have supported every coach and administration that they have had in the school's history. Through 30 years of long suffering, I have heard a million ways on how to 'fix' the team or the simple moves it would take to turn it around. Some have been valid, some have not. Am I sad to see Coach Fisk go? Yes. I think the team was finally taking a step in the right direction. Was the administration right in what they did? I don't know. I suppose only a very few people actually know what happened and I doubt either one of them would tell. But I do know that a new coach will have to start all over again. I am sad that by the time a new coach builds anything up, they too will be sent packing. But, back to your point. The poster was seemed to be making the point that this was a move based on where personnel was lined up and in the wrong positions, and about player development and so on. These were actually valid points, but I don't believe that this had anything to do why the administration made the move they did. I honestly believe that if the team would have finished 7-3 the move would still have been made. I honestly believe that the current administration is looking for a more disciplined approach to the school as well as its athletics. I was probably being too sarcastic and if so I apologize, but at the same time I was being partly serious, too. Put in for the job. I wish you well. I will be there supporting whoever gets it...
  8. There are alot of connections that could be made. The one you bring up is obviously the only one you know...
  9. I didn't, but it sounds like you just did...
  10. :DThe conspiracy goes deeper than I thought...
  11. Probably someone who has worked with the (administration) in the past at another school. Shouldn't be to hard to follow the (administration) back a few years and see who the potential candidates would be...
  12. Well... the job is open and they are taking applications. You seem to have all the answers. I think you should put in for it. Good luck!
  13. I'll partly agree with you guys on this. You don't just want 100 kids coming out who can't play or shouldn't be on the field in the first place. However there are a handful (not alot) of kids who had played at various levels who had quit playing for one reason or another...
  14. True. But, I would challenge you to find me a school that has been more depleted by this than Scott...
  15. I only have Scott down as 2-8 in '99...
  16. It's not that easy to choose schools, but it's not too difficult to go to another school, either. Open enrollment is one of the difficulties that Scott has to deal with. There have been a few players that have chosen to come to Scott as well, but for the most part it has been the other way around. There have been alot of high profile kids that play for some of the better teams in the area that all live in Scott's district...
  17. No. It seems to be a simple theory that because Scott doesn't win they aren't properly prepared or don't work hard enough. The kids work as hard as anybody else and the coaches put a good game plan together like everybody else. I have been in the stands with the parents for the last several years. I speak with them repeatedly. Some have legitimate concerns and suggestions, while others can be a bit irrational. When you lose you get alot of backlash and that is understandable. There are some parents that support the team very well and there are some that only show up on Friday night and scream for coaches blood. The chronic problem at Scott is that there isn't enough quality players to be competitive with other teams on a consistant basis. At the core, there are some very talented players, however there are tons of talented players who bypass Scott and play at other schools rather than suffer through more of their ragged history (Jared Lorenzen is a prime example). The kids that remain get an excellent opportunity to play, but the team as a whole is usually a step behind other schools in the area before the game begins. Open enrollment, lack of a feeder program, and a ugly history of football makes it rough at Scott. It is going to take alot of time and commitment to change things. It is going to take a long term plan to organize the feeder system. It's going to take years of steady improvement to change the perception of Scott football. Unfortunately, each coach at Scott only has a limited time to do this. Many of us thought that this season was a small step in that direction...
  18. I think everybody has over analyzed the story so much that it has taken on a life of it's own. I can only tell you that Coach Fisk was hired 33 months ago under a principal and an athletic director that are no longer with the school. The new principal has a different mandate and feels the team should head in a different direction. It really is that simple...
  19. You are making alot of guessing and alot assumptions to get somewhere that I do not believe is true. Scott practices every moment that is legally aloud for under the rules. They put in the same amount of time as other schools...
  20. I think you are absolutley correct that one of the biggest problems with the program has been the lack of a feeder program that other schools have. That is also why a long term plan and commitment is needed. Throwing away the coaches every 3 or 4 years you are constantly in re-building mode...
