  1. Fairview was very fortunate to win the game.Black,Barker and Hutchinson the 3 leading scorers for the Eagle combined for only 17 points and 6 of those were by Black in overtime.Stewart(18),Holbrook(17) and Bayless(11) all came up huge. You can not hit any more pressure packed free throws than Stewart hit(3 free throws ,7.3 seconds left down 51-48.)Lost in the Stewart heroics was the solid play of Holbrook and Bayless-both came up with big plays.FHS will have to play much better Saturday but I am sure they will. Now about Menifee. How is this team 2-13?They were solid.Played a very good zone the entire night, got back on defense and were very patient on offense. For those of you who question this team please get on the KHSAA website to check out their scores. They have had many close games and I expect them to do well the rest of the year.Their two big men(Howard/Skidmore) are tough.
  2. Others in the 16th-Tharp Greenup FT%,Barker Fairview FT%,McGowan Morgan FG% and Chinn Rose Hill FG%.
  3. A good loss does not exist. However I doubt if the Eagles are crushed. They played at BC where the Lions have lost only one game(94-93 to Bob Jones High of Alabama) and lost by 5.Fairview had their worst shooting night of the year both from the field(19-57) and the line(7-16) and still were in the game until the end.The district will be at Rose Hill which will help to negate the home court advantage the Lions had on Tuesday.A couple of positive notes for the Eagles:outside shooting of Justin Hutchinson-he hit 5 threes and the ballhandling of Fairview. For the second straight game Fairview only had 6-7 turnovers.I was impressed with BC.They were patient and didn't get rattled when Fairview made their run.Owens is the best and most dynamic player in the region. He literally 'carries' BC at times-and I'm not just talking about with his ability.I have seen several games this year in which a 'palming'call is made on his first or second possession and then never called again. The fact is-he palms the ball on almost every dribble.
  4. Did the Fairview loss bring all these issues out or have they been simmering just under the surface? The only criticism I've ever heard on Bluegrass about Flynn has came from non-Ashland partisans. The past few posts are obviously from Ashland fans who care about the program. It must be remembered that overall Coach Flynn has had more success than Coach Hart while playing what most would consider a tougher schedule.Does this mean this will continue?I don't know. But I will agree with the basic premise that Coach Hart has been much more successful in getting kids to 'come out' for his sport.
  5. Rose Hill has the "rights" to the district this year. They may choose to host it at Rose Hill or at one of the other schools(Fairview,Boyd Ashland).IMO they will wait for the draw and then make a decision.
  6. Lionfan12-Owens due to go off on a big game? What has he been doing all year?He is avg. 30 plus.I'd say he has had many "big games".
  7. Is Lewis still rotating 5 at a time?Coach Hapton was doing this earlier in the year with mixed results.
  8. BTW Ashland has a very tough game this evening vs. Lexington Catholic and although I was rooting against Ashland last night I hope thet play well and can pull out a victory.I hope every fan in the region pulls for a 16th region team when they play out of region teams.
  9. This should be a good game.Fairview is playing well right now and everyone knows what Boyd can do.Obviously Owens is the best one on one players in the region if not the state.Because of this people tend to overlook Moore,Branham,Blanton and Shannon who IMO are all very good players.Remember Blanton was picked as one of the top ten in the region preseason.Fairview also needs to be ready for a physical game. The Lions will flat get after you.Fairview proved against Ashland that they can play from behind.Too close to call.
  10. Elliott will bounce back.As far as Rowan is concerned they are much better than their record indicates. Most of their losses have been single digits. If they ever find an inside game(sounds like they did tonight) they will be formidable.
  11. Please someone put out an APB on AT 41.Where is he?On the Ashland-Fairview thread which had 150 responses AT had 40 of them.Surely with 40 posts and most with full confidence of a Tomcat victory he can give us his views of the game.
  12. Fairview beat Ashland in the 73-74 season. An interesting sidenote. The father of Alex Barker was the starting pg on that team.It is the first time that Fairview has beaten Ashland at Ashland.
  13. Will Austin Robinson(Former RH starter) be eligible for St. Joe?
  14. My source wasn't clear but if he could practice I would think he would start.
  15. He practiced today.I was told that he is dressing and will be available tomorrow.
  16. Barker hasn't practiced the past few days-May miss the game due to injury.
