No doubt Harlan's O line must step up big to protect Jones, however, Chase had several runs in the Cawood game after reading the defense spreading out for the pass. I think the uncertainty is more about the new schemes and less about worrying about a hit. Remember this is only his 2nd year and first as starter on this team, and on a JB Donahue team, the first in memory to offer a shotgun formation and credible passing threat. Hopefully, comfort and stability will come with repitition.

Harlan survived the start of a new offensive look, first game jitters, and Mikey Hensley to win at Cawood on Friday night. They must improve as they travel to Hazard next week to face a team that despite losing heavily to graduation defeated PCC. Lets talk it up! Has Hazard missed a beat in their "air raid" offense, or are there weaknesses to be exploited by the Big Green? This game may be a preview of the district title game in years future as Hazard and Harlan enter the new class A together next year. What do you think?

:thumb: I agree with youthcoach. Why be such a wet blanket? These kids put it all out there. Everyone can't be Bell or Belfry. Lets encourage these young folks. Its fine to offer constructive criticism, but if you are bored, watch an NFL game at home.

:thumb: actually yes, at least in Harlan! Roast beef sandwiches and a pretty decent hot/cold bar. Owned by Bill Douglass of London,Ky (formerly of Harlan) and Charles Dozier, a great older gentleman that presents the trophy every year. He would love to give it to the Trojans this year. Love ya Charles, but here's hoping the Dragons keep it another year.

:irked: Well, I guess the guy running the pass into the endzone wasn't a "score", just a pass caught and ran across the goal line without being tackled. And you are right, neither team did great, probably a symptom of not having gotten to play the other night. Geez! Touchy Touchy!

The teams got some good work on Special Teams, which was a nice twist on a scrimage for a tune up toward Friday. Knox let Harlan move the ball too much for a 3A team, with the size of their line. This with couple of Harlan linemen not 100%. Plenty of mistakes on both sides. Knox JV definetely bigger, stronger and better than Harlan's JV, however Harlan's JV was purely frosh, getting only thier second taste of HS ball. This was a good learning scrimage for both teams. Harlan scored on a get this, "pass play". Knox did not score. One of Knox JV got a little "happy" and mauled a Harlan frosh QB while the whistles blew, but otherwise a nice workout.

The Dragons should have the "D" to keep Cawood's offense at bay. The big Q for Harlan is the offense. The Dragons moved the ball well against Knox Central in their scrimage on Saturday. As cliche' as it sounds, though with a cross town rivalry, sometimes emotion can carry a long way. Anything can happen, but I'm betting The Big Green will get it together before halftime and blow it open in the 4th. Harlan 32 Cawood 12

Nice comment :creepy: Harlan has overcome plenty of adversity to get to this point. If the station always put all the heavy hitters in every year, it would be the regional finals all over again. Hats off to them for giving other teams a chance. Before the injury bug hit, they were 13th Region contenders. Just be nice, can't ya????????

:thumb: Right Joe, I predicted 42-12, which was very close. I was fairly beaten up over my assessment by the Panther crew, understandly for their homers, but after my Dragons were beaten soundly by both teams, it was clear that Somerset had the more total package. Having said that, both Schools had great years and great tradition. Pikeville came a long way with a new coach and some young players. No doubt they will continue to be a force to be reckoned with year after year. Congrats Jumpers. Keep District 7's hopes alive!

This year Pikeville will not win this game, by power or by finesse. If they win, it would take a meltdown of major proportions for the Jumpers, and that ain't likely.
