  1. It's 30 for those playing in the Rafferty's Bowl as well. But those are the exceptions rather than the norm.....so don't confuse everybody.
  2. 30 MORE DAYS AND THEN: Let the :argue: ing begin!
  3. Ox, it looks like there is a new Junior name to add to your list of wide receivers: BRINKMAN. While I don't think 7on7 is REEL football I saw this kid make 12 to 15 catches yesterday in X's first game against Eastern. 2 for TD's and 2 for PAT's. His success was equally as good in to the next 2 games as well, even after the Seniors returned from taking their ACT's/SAT's. He did the same thing in the Tuesday night league games at Waggner. Looks like this kid has very good hands and knows how to get himself in position to make use of those hands.
  4. The plot got a little thicker this morning if you read the article in todays Courier Journal: QUOTE: There are eight football districts in Kentucky: Nos. 1 and 2 lie in the west, 7 and 8 in the east. Lest teams in those areas have to travel great distances -- and defeat the economic imperatives -- Tackett excluded those districts from the draw, he explained in an e-mail to The Courier-Journal. Here is the full article if you're interested. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060528/SPORTS05/605280494/1002/SPORTS Something Smells FISHY Here!
  5. After watching the newly released highlight video from last years season, Anderson is nothing but AMAZING on the football field. It will be a tough call between him and Doug Beaumont as to who ends up #1 and #2 in 2006. I agree TC, Someone else will step up and cloud the decision. One young man that deserves an honorable mention is Drew Eckman. If he continues to show the same pace of improvement going in to his Senior year as he did his Freshman, Sophmore and Junior years, he'll be a great replacement for Michael Mattingly. Big shoes to fill, but he is capable!
  6. No offense taken Mr. NN. The Junior Tigers have played several squads this year that have pulled Varsity players down to play against them. Many of which have been unsuccessful against our all sophmore squad.
  7. On their JV squad - NONE! They're all Sophmores. On their Varsity Squad - 15.
  8. I, like many other posters in this thread, beleive you should keep playing the game as if it were real circumstances until the end. I have seen to many teams get on a 2 out rally and score 10+ runs on a team before they knew what hit'em. There isn't a margin safe enough in the game of baseball. You want to see one of your kids get hurt?.........tell them, "Back off, we're beating this team to badly." When the other team is still playing to win and you're not bad things happen. Such as: 1. Kids develop or fall back into bad habits. Habits, as a coach, you've been trying to break since the beginning of practice/tryouts in February. 2. Injuries. 3. Substitutions that you wouldn't usually make that can't be corrected fast enough when the other team gets on their hitting streak. And the list goes on. As a coach who has been on the down side of this question, nothing would make me madder than seeing a coach back off. I firmly beleive a squad will learn more from a loss than they ever learn from a win. Is it harsh? Maybe; but it's the reality of the game. If you can't run-hit-field with the BIG DOGS; Stay on the porch.
  9. The St. X Tigers Junior Varsity Baseball Team, lost last night for the first time in their High School Careers, in a 5-0 decision. The current Junior Tigers went 19 and 0 as Freshman last year and won the first 9 games of their Sophomore season this year, before loosing last night to New Albany. Since records aren't kept on Freshman and JV squads there is no way to know how good 28 and 1 really is. Does anyone out there officially or unofficially know of another team that's had this good a start? CONGRADULATIONS JUNIOR TIGERS!
  10. Coach Bruner is a good coach. One I thought would be hard to replace; but, from the sounds of it, Coach Glazer made an upgrade in his coaching staff.
  11. I'll second the Congradulations to Coach Brown. We all wish you the best Coach. You've done a great job in your 3 seasons as head coach of the Baby Bengals. You'll be missed there, but your expertise will be quit welcome at the next level and with the Varsity. :thumb: GOOD LUCK COACH BROWN:thumb:
  12. :irked: Then you're looking the other way when it's convenient. I know of a kid who currently plays for a Jefferson County Public School, who's parents live out in the State, who is claiming his Grandmothers Jefferson County address as his home address, so he can play for that Jefferson County Public School. There is as much, "Insert the R word here if you want", going on in the Public schools as there is in the Private schools. Anyone who thinks there isn't, just doesn't want to admit it or wants to use it as an excuse for their program not measuring up. It happens everywhere ..... and at all levels of sports ..... not just High School Sports. We can talk about it here on this message board all we want, but until someone gets caught and proven guilty, no one knows for sure. It's strictly speculation!
