Keep talkin' Pirates!! I believe that Russell's backfield has had 4 different backs that have led the team in Rushing this year. Tommy Brown, Chad Edwards, Michael Horn, and Kasey Clark. Should be a great one at Henry R. Evans. I don't see any blow outs in this one and Russell could have packed it in last night when the chips were down late. They showed alot of heart and character and they did what they had to do to win. Survive and Advance is the name of the game. I feel like these last two games have only helped them get ready for Belfry. Last years team NEVER TRAILED until 16 seconds to go in the first half at Vipperman Stadium. This years team has fought adversity and won that will only help come Friday Night!

What about Kasey Clark over 1.200 rushing yards and now up to 38, 38, yes no type error 38!!!!! Touchdowns. And his team is 12-1, 12-1, 12-1, They are playing in the semi's and he is their leader. Scored 4 last night and 2 were serious plays! of not the 1 yard variety!! MVP, MVP,MVP!!!!!!!

Still in shock both teams left all they had on the field. Great game to watch. Congratulations to BOTH Teams!!!! Unbelievable swings of momentum each way and BOTH teams weathered the storm to comeback. Again Good Luck RED DEVILS and Congratulations Newport on a wonderful season!!!

Derrick Young - Morgan Co. He averaged around 8 yards a carry and he is very good. I knew I was forgetting somebody!! FBALL, I also agree Chad Edwards has done a remarkable job this year after injuries and move to FB! He is vital to the Devils success!

Sorry for my actions this Friday. I was a bad representation of the Russell Fans on BGP's. Anyway I'm juiced up for the regional finals I hope the team and staff brings back the hardware. I want a fun Thanksgiving talking RED DEVIL Football just like last year's!!!!!!

Tomcatsalute, How in the world is he average? He ran all over your Tomcats! And he is second in the STATE in scoring. What more do you want the kid to do? Maybe transfer to Ashland, then Kasey would be a Mr. Football candidate right? I guess you have no respect for a player still playing with 34 TD's on less than 150 carries. Your opinion amazes me. Did you and the Daily Independent sports staff take the same kind of medication that makes you crazy? I guess both Ashland and Johnson Central are the best football teams int the area? Who's still scoring I mean playing it is a Kasey Clark led Russell team!!!!!

I thought it was a very poorly officiated ball game tonight. Lots of bad call!! Maybe even some phantom calls. IMO they game Mercer Co. their first TD on the back to back 15 yard pass interference calls. They also called a 15 yard personal foul for tackling the QB on a run fake. I'm not a ref but I think every play there is a fake the person who takes the fake gets either hit or tackled. Refs had a real bad night!!

Big win for Russell! I'm great game for Chad Edwards, Tommy Brown, and Derrick Timberlake. I really thought that Mercer Co. played hard and they didn't quit. Russell was the better team tonight! Coach Jaggers has done an outstanding job with this program. I look for big things from Mercer in the future. Well as you know I don't predict so let's look for another big game next week!!!!

I would love to see an East-Russell rematch in the Regional Finals!! Anyway good luck to the Raiders and Red Devils!!!

Well, enough is said about this game! I can't sleep and it will be a long long long day!! Hopefully the Devils can survive and advance! Let's hope the Devils put a muzzle on the Scotties. By the way my sister used to wear Scottie Dog sweaters. Nevertheless, the game will be decided on the field. Can Russell run against them? Can the defense stop them? Will Mercer Co. control the line of scrimmage? Will Russell be able to move the ball? Can the Devils speed both them and get them in a deep hole early? Who will survive and advance? We all have our opinions. I just hope to see a clean fun hard hitting football game. I honestly don't know who to pick. However, I want to see the Devils play for a State Championship. Can they get to Louisville? I don't know. I'm gonna cross my fingers and make a wish to the Sultan for a Red Devil victory tommorrow night in the cold frozen tundra of Henry R. Evans Stadium!!!!!!!!

Kasey Clark has 1,042 yards on 131 carries and 30 TD's. 3sports. That is still a good article. I think it is great to see kids get exposure in all areas of the state. By the way there is a great article in today's Daily Independent on Mercer Co. and there kids as well!!! Coach Jaggers seems like a quality person and coach from his quotes in the newspaper. Mercer Co. seems to be a class act!

Hopefully the Scotties will suffer a little bit of that bus lag on the trip to Henry R. Evans. I think that oh Jerry said it best "Oh What A Long Strange Trip It's Been" Maybe the Scotties will get the priviledge to eat at the orginal Billy Ray Cyrus McDonald's located in the heart of downtown Flatwoods! I'm about to take the boy there myself in a few minutes to get some McGriddles. Unless Frances would like to come over and make us some country ham,grits,scrambled eggs, and biscuits from scratch,with that delicious fresh squeezed juice!!! That's making my mouth water!!

Streaks aside if the Red Devils play to their capabilities they should win. However if they don't play well they will be pack'n up the uniforms and getting ready for the '06 BackYard Brawl. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope that they Survive and Advance!!! Anything can happen on any given Friday that's why the game is played on the field and not on BGP!!!

I haven't picked against Ashland all year, but tomcatsalute picked Mercer Co. big over Russell so I guess I'll play DEVILS advocate and say The Rock in a close one. And by the way CP I do believe Coach Hart has a losing record vs. Russell! Any way I do think Coach Hart is an excellent coach and a classy person as well as a good role model for the Ashland kids. He represents his community with about as much class as any coach in the state!! Our area of Ky is blessed with great coaches who are role models and terrific examples for our children both on and off the field!!

I think there are lots of good running backs in Eastern KY. I also think that in order to be the best you have to look at the way the RB elevates his team. Kasey has so many teams key on him that the other RB's at Russell are able to have success because the entire defense focuses on him, and the fact that NO team even the mighty Ashland has been able to keep him from paydirt twice. Sometimes it seems as though the kid is just not to be denied like the 93 yard kickoff return where he broke 6 tackles to put Russell back ahead by two TD's after Henry Co. big TD pass to cut it to 14-7. He has made big plays all year to elevate his team to 10-1. He has scored every way possible! Kickoff Return, Fumble Return, Interception Return, Rushing 23 times, Recieving, Punt Return,Offensive Fumble Recovery for a TD. He has over 1,000 yards rushing on only 130 carries!!!!
