  1. Good win, for Coach Trimble and the Lady Rams.:thumb: That means Rose Hill and Russell could draw each other first round
  2. Both teams have good coaches. However, I would have to go with Russell
  3. They needed you out there helping them. Instead of running everyone down on this message board.
  4. Our prayers go out for Tyler. He is a great kid.
  5. Ashland lost the game, so quit your crying. Fairview will also upset the Mighty Tomcats the first game of the district.:sssh:
  6. I would hope Flannery and Popp would get significant playing time at the varsity level next season. Flannery was the leading scorer on the JV team all season. I have never seen the leading scorer on the JV team, game after game, not get any playing time on the varsity team. Flannery is one of the, if not the best three point shooter in the state right now. Can someone explain to me why the leading scorer on the JV team, never gets any varsity playing time?
  7. Dawg, come on, find some kindness in your heart. Rose Hill would love to play everyone in the region. However, Russell, Rowan Co., East Carter, Raceland, Greenup, and Elliott will not add them to their schedule. Next season they will play Ashland, Boyd and Fairview home and away. They will have the toughest and most demanding schedule in the 16th region next season. Without a dout.
  8. Congrats. to Russell, beating Ashland on their home floor is not easy to do.
  9. Boyd County will not be at the regional tournament. Rose Hill will knock them out Tuesday night:thumb: So I don't think Russell will need to worry about Boyd!
  10. Congrats. to Aaron. Keep working hard. It sounds like he is on the same track as the Euton kid from Rose Hill, which is also a freshmen. He just scored his 1,300 point last week. However, he did play varsity as a 7th grader. I can see Euton ans Watts playing at the major D-1 level, if they continue to work hard.
  11. Rose Hill's boy's and girl's varsity teams were scheduled to play Bellevue at home tomorrow. Bellevue called Rose Hill today and informed the school they could not make the trip. I am not sure why they waited so late to make the call. Rose Hill could have picked up another game with someone else, if they would have called earlier.
  12. I agree with you 100%% Vanhoose should be the player of the year in the 16th.
  13. If Fraley don't win coach of the year in the 16th this year, he will win it next year and the following year and the year after that and maybe even the year after that. Euton and Jackson are two of the best players in the region, and will be the two best for years to come. Along with our friends in Elliott Co. I just hope Russell enjoys their success this year, because after this year it is over.
  14. All I heard the other night when Vanhoose and Blair fouled out was "Russell gets another senior bounce" Of course they were getting the "senior bounce" because it was senior night at Russell. Guess what, Friday night is senior night for the Tomcats. Maybe they will get the "Senior Bounce"Friday night and upset the Mighty Red Devils
  15. Biggs has done the most with the amount of talent he has. What are you talking about and who are you refering to: Mcdavid, started since he was an 8th grader "A Warrior" Thomas, started since he was a 9th grader "Great Athelete" Wilcox, started since he was a sophmore "Work Horse" and the rest of the team is pretty good players. Now, if Coach Biggs can play the same schedule next year with the same success. He should get coach of the year. Coach Fraley, on the other hand starts an 8th grader, two freshmen, one sophmore and one junior. He has guided this very young team to an undefeated season at the Hill. They are closing in on a 20 win season, the last time that happened at the Hill, O.J. was running show. I am glad to see that you agree "Euton and Jackson are the two best players in the region":dancingpa
  16. I look for Thomas to slow Down Vanhoose enough that the Tomcats will pull this one off at home. I think the Tomcats relized the last game that they are as good as Russell. I believe that Ashland is a better team than they were the last matchup. If they let Thomas gaurd Vanhoose look for the Tomcats to pull it out in a close one. If Thomas gets in foul trouble and cant guard Vanhoose than give the Devils the edge. Ashland 62 Russell 58 OT:ylsuper:
  17. I dont think it takes a basketball genuis to understand that Coach Ward would not give his players enough freedom to develope their skills. He had several potiental D-1 one players that never got a look because of his style. You cant get any seriuos looks from a D-1 school if you average 12 or 13 points a game. Plus if I recall it was a crime to break somebody down off the dribble. It was all about posting up and passing the ball around the perimeter until the center got open and you could enter the ball. I remember boo's every game because they would hold the ball for several minutes each time they had the ball. This isnt Defense it is limiting the other teams tips. It was extremly boring to watch and you had 6' 5" gaurds like Griffith and Sutton, and Bird Tackett that had the ability to live a dream of playing D-1 but never got the oppertunity because of the style of play. Give me the best of both worlds. Enough freedom to develope skills and enough tempo to keep the fans interested. I dont want a coach that controls every trip up the floor just so he can be apart of the game. I want my players to be able to do some decision making on their own. I dont think 4 Region Championships is very impressive in 20 years with the talent that has came through at Greenup. Check out Roger Zornes Record compared to Ward's with about the same talent level. :D :fight:
  18. Very good post John Boy. I have tried to do the same as of late. I never let my son go to bed without hugging him, saying our prayer together and telling him how much I love him, and how pround I am of him. Regardless of how he plays. Basketball is fare from being the most important thing in life. I told my son the other day, when we were looking at pictures from his baptism back when he was only ten years old. That I was more pround of him on that day for excepting the Lord as his personal savior, then I will ever be for anything he may achieve in athletics.
  19. Sounds like a defensive battle. Good win for the musketeers. 16-9. Not bad for everything that has went on in LLoyd.:thumb:
  20. You are right Sportsfan, any basketball scholarship is a great acomplishment. I was just saying that a major D-1 scholarship is very rare in the 16th region. Mike Scott and Jeff Hall are the only two I could think of in the last 30 years. I think Euton and Jackson have the size and ability at a young age to be considered a major D-1 prospect. However, it will still take alot of hard work and Gods blessings for them to make it to that level. Only time will tell.
  21. It's called HEART. I'm refering to the three that make them GO. Ferg. and the Faulkner twins. They never stop playing hard.
  22. I was not talking about Ferg or the Twins. IMO they are the only ones close to Euton and Jackson "As Freshmen" None of the others mentioned, put up the numbers as freshmen that Euton and Jackson are putting up. Especially against double teams.
  23. I dont think so, and if they did how many of them averaged over 10 points and 5 rebounds.
  24. I am sure that Coach Biggs, Coach Mays and Coach Dodd would say their duo is the best. What's the big deal? Lets not forget they are freshmen and they are ranked the #1 and #2 freshmen in the State. Has there ever been a player in the 16 region that was ranked #1 or #2 in the state? We do know that none of the duos mentioned in this thread were as good as Euton and Jackson when they were freshmen. Most of them did not play varsity ball when they were freshmen. Euton and Jackson would start for any team in the region this year. God willing, and with alot of hard work, Euton and Jackson will sign major D-1 scholarships after their senior season. Who was the last players in the 16th region that signed a major D-1 basketball scholarship? The only one I can think of is Mike Scott to Wake Forrest in 1985. Several Mid-Majors, but only on Major.
