  1. A fine post, Homeless Camel, but I have to say that I was worried that your "Caps" key was broken until I got to the last two sentences. Frances
  2. In front of Bill Nolte???? Surely you jest. Thompson was barely able to play professionally (Europe and South America, I believe) for a decade or so. Nolte, on the other hand, played well into his 40's at the YMCA, drafting some of the finest talent that the area had to offer. And if you want to limit the conversation to just their high school careers, well, there really is no comparison... Frances
  3. Russell struggled for the first half against Raceland. I don't see that as any reason to think that they aren't the number one team in the region. No team plays at the top of their abilities all season long. Until someone in the region beats them, they have to stay in that top slot. They have a solid team, and they are well coached. Frances
  4. Well, there you have it. We all have opinions, and they certainly have the right to their's. They may be right. Frances
  5. I think this shows that, once again, the 16th region is more balanced than many people thought it would be. Raceland played Russell tough tonight, but ultimately Russell is the lead dog in this race. That said, the pack doesn't appear to be all that far behind... Frances
  6. WOW!! Sounds like Fairview did a great job. Holding Euton to 14 points in a half would be a heckuva job. It would appear that Rex had the Eagles ready to play in this one. Frances
  7. The only weakness Savage had was in picking his friends ... Frances
  8. Isn't that one of Jay Shidler's old nicknames (along with White Lightning)? Even if it is, it would still fit. :thumb: Frances
  9. WOW!! Tough call on that one, Duck. Normally, I would give the nod to Miller, but when you roll in their extended career at the "Y", I'd have to give the nod to Bammer, in a squeaker. Frances
  10. Johnson is too good a coach to let Raceland lay down. That said, Rusell has the guns, and a not-to-shabby coach of their own. I think the outcome was a given, but the Rams made the margin closer than most expected. As with all of these games, they are really only a tuneup for districts. That said, winning feels a lot better than being on the short end of the scoreboard. Frances
  11. Duck is good people. I'll take him on my team. Frances
  12. For the Fairview team, I would have to consider Jeff Mullins. Not a bad player in his own right. Jeff Hall Mike Helton Don Rigsby Jeff Mullins Bill Nolte Frances
  13. Woof! A lot of great players in this thread, but that is one heckuva lineup. I wonder who you could surround Wes Unseld with, from Seneca? Frances
  14. You keep Sisler, I'll take Pratt's running mate, Dave Wooten, at guard. Frances
  15. Nothing worse than an out of control Duck... Frances
  16. I've never seen Jackson play, but I've known Dakotah since he was about six years old - it seemed like he was about 6 feet 7 inches then. Due to his hair color and height, I'll go with "Tall Cotton". Frances
  17. Is that you FBALL? How many screennames can one person have? Frances
  18. A fine team, with many excellent athletes. That said, playing twelve men on defense is going to be a penalty in most games. Frances
  19. Your wish is my command. I'll stay with my earlier prediction of Russell, noting that Raceland is the sentimental favorite. Frances
  20. Oh great - now you've done it! Now FBALL will have to monitor all of the And1 tour telecasts, to see who is accusing Russell of stealing gasoline ... Frances
  21. It is followed by a response to a poster that, like you, is reading more into the post than is there. Do you not see the irony of accusing me of something, and then saying "AHA - you responded to my accusation!!"? As for the "lying or ignorant" statement, I guess I'll have to plead ignorance. For whatever reason, you are intent on reading some malintentions into a single line post that is (to anyone that can read above the third grade level) a very plain, simple statement. Since you have seen clear to accuse me of lying or ignorance, and I have pled guilty to "ignorance", perhaps you could come out of the shadows with all of that secret intelligence that you have amassed as Captain of Cybercrime, and tell me just what it is that I am ignorant of. If you have knowledge of something, please share it with us - lest I have to accuse you of lying. Graciously, Frances
  22. There is nothing in my post - nothing - that is an opinion, or intended to start a rumor. Nothing in my post - nothing - is judgemental (with or without facts). You may wish to read something into that post, and you have the right to do so. Regardless of what you think it says, or what you want it to say, I will decline to defend something that you (or FBALL) are looking to be offended by. Notice that in my last post, I refer to "High Octane". Now, on the off chance that someone that works at the refinery decides that I have somehow linked the Russell basketball team to an incident of stolen gas, they would be mistaken - even if they are looking to be offended. Thanks, Frances
