Raceland had things going well for most of the night tonight. Around midway through the 3rd. qtr. Russell went to full court pressure and it sounded like the Ramblers had no answer. Raceland's kids played a tough, hard fought game and the better team won. Raceland was up 34 - 18 with around 6:00 to go in the 3rd. qtr. and Russell went to the pressure defense.

Sounds like Russell figured it out late, after reading updates.

Thanks for the updates on the other thread oldrambler...:thumb: Stuck at work this evening...

I would like to take time to mention the Russell radio crew in this one. I amoung others have gotten on them pretty hard. Tonight they were very good:thumb: :thumb: . They called their players by their real names instad of all nicknames so you could tell what was going on and who was doing what. They did a very good play by play and did not disrespect the Raceland kids in any way and gave them credit during the broadcast.

Yep, I was listening on the radio and was not there but it sounded like Russell's press was the answer. Raceland had no answers to the pressure it seemed.

Tough loss for the Rams and a good win for the Devils. Russell never quit and again found a way to win. If they ever play a complete game they will be a dangerous basketball team. Great effort by the Rams they just came up a little short at the end.

I also want to give props to the Russell radio guy.I call em out when they are not so good and give praise when they do well. He was solo tonight on the play by play and color and did an excellent job. Tough job to handle all alone and he called a great game. Nice job.

The press killed Raceland. When they could inbounds the ball, they would then play too conservative. If you keep passing against that kind of pressure, instead of taking available shots, you will eventually turn it over. Van Hoose put the Devils on his back in the 4th quarter and carried them to the win. Looks like Raceland is improving, even if they did end up with the loss.

Johnson is too good a coach to let Raceland lay down. That said, Rusell has the guns, and a not-to-shabby coach of their own. I think the outcome was a given, but the Rams made the margin closer than most expected.

As with all of these games, they are really only a tuneup for districts. That said, winning feels a lot better than being on the short end of the scoreboard.

Imo the Raceland kids played hard tonight. They will give you everything they have got. Seems like they are getting back in stride after a slump in the last few games. Ram players....keep you heads up and stay focused. Any true Raceland fan will be behind our players no matter what. GO RAMS!!! lets get on a good note going into the all A classic regional.:ylsuper:

Marcus Frazier had a big ballgame. He hit a pair of huge threes to get the

Russell offense going late in the 3rd quarter. Van Hoose had a big second

half and I believe (though I'm not sure) he played with four fouls for a majority

of the third and fourth periods.

A nice bounceback win for the Devils after a tough loss in OT and of rough

game without two of their starters.

I think Van Hoose (radio announcer) said there were 48 fouls in the game.

With both teams having played in out of region tournaments last week, it

kinda gives creedence to the argument about 16th Region officials being a bit

whistle-happy.

Frazier was huge tonight also. He hit those 3's when Russell needed them. Ref's were happy with the whistle. But both ways. Raceland had 3 players foul out i think, while Russell only had 1. Van Hoose played with 4 a long time. there where a couple of times when a 5th could had been called. But the outcome was a result of the Devil press, not officials.

A big thumbs up to everything Statmaster just said.
