FWIW, I'll take Russell by 10.

Marcus Frazier had a big ballgame. He hit a pair of huge threes to get the

Russell offense going late in the 3rd quarter. Van Hoose had a big second

half and I believe (though I'm not sure) he played with four fouls for a majority

of the third and fourth periods.

A nice bounceback win for the Devils after a tough loss in OT and of rough

game without two of their starters.

:thumb: He sure did have a big game! Imo he was the reason Russell won tonight. I thought that T. Boyles from Raceland played and scored pretty well just from the way the radio crew described it. Tyler is a very good all around athlete and just being a Soph. he will only get better.

Frazier was huge tonight also. He hit those 3's when Russell needed them. Ref's were happy with the whistle. But both ways. Raceland had 3 players foul out i think, while Russell only had 1. Van Hoose played with 4 a long time. there where a couple of times when a 5th could had been called. But the outcome was a result of the Devil press, not officials.

Russell was asleep for 3 quarters until FINALLY awaking in the 4th. Here's a stat for ya, the Devils scored 29 points through 3 quarters and then scored 29 pts in the 4th quarter. They finally started playing to their capabilities and there was too much time left for the Rams to hold them off but I'll say this, they never quit. That's what I admire about Shawn's teams, the never say die attitude. It's truely inspiring to watch. Good luck to the Rams the rest of the year. I think Russell has seen enough orange already this year.

Russell made a big comeback and won the game. They should never have been in that position. This team really needs to come out playing hard all the time instead of just when they have to.

:thumb: Raceland just did not thave the overall talent to pull this one out. It may just be me but I think that Raceland's defense and their play through the first half kept Russell out of sync and not just Russell "waking up" all of a sudden. The way it sounded Russell going to the press in the 3rd qtr. was the difference. Thank you UKCF for complimenting the Raceland kids.:thumb: They do have the never quit attitude. Some of those kids were on the very sucsessful Ram football team and have the "winners" attitude and that carries over no matter what the sport. Russell has a very talented, well coached and experienced basketball team (as well as their football team was) and the experience showed tonight.

Johnson is too good a coach to let Raceland lay down.

Johnson is too good a coach to let Raceland lay down. That said, Rusell has the guns, and a not-to-shabby coach of their own. I think the outcome was a given, but the Rams made the margin closer than most expected.

 

As with all of these games, they are really only a tuneup for districts. That said, winning feels a lot better than being on the short end of the scoreboard.

Well, there you have it. We all have opinions, and they certainly have the right to their's. They may be right.
