I think we do start basketball WAY too early. Ohio starts practice exactly one month later and have minimal problems. (At least they did a couple of years ago, I think it's still November 15th.)

Regardless of the blame, and I'm not sure it should go all on the AD or coach, I still don't believe you play two varsity games in two days... I think it better serves to play NCC in JV, or whoever was scheduled the next day...

I forgot my main point. :irked: 5) If this is anything other than a bad idea, other teams would be doing it. We all know that coaches are looking for an advantage, this does the opposite. I don't disagree that it could serve some purpose. Just don't tell me that this as a smart move... (Not you Skunk, others) The main problem is having your bye week in week 2...

No matter how you spin it, this is bad... 1) If you play your JV, you're costing your varsity kids game experience prior to the playoffs. (If you told any coach that they'd only have 9 games this year when everyone else had 10, they'd have a fit.) 2) You're also costing your JV kids a game of experience because they can't play NC on Saturday. (I'd go ahead and schedule it for Monday, at this point what will it hurt?) 3) Most of the football coaches I know and that's quite a few, DESPISE getting thrown off schedule. This does that, to say the very least. You've added a bye week. When you should be lifting, running, and watching films on Saturday you're playing another game. When do you bring them in for films? Monday? That takes away from your normal schedule, even if it is a bye week. Sunday? That's a lot of football. 4) Football is a game of preparation. Every coach wants to go into every game fully prepared. A wise coach once told me that, "You can't treat one game like the Super Bowl and another game like a scrimmage. They're all important." He's 100% correct. I'd rather take the $1000 (or whatever the contract says) penalty then play back to back.

Well, they are within 15 hours of the start of basketball season and are yet to hire a coach. And yes, qualified people have applied. What the heck are they waiting on?

We were discussing this earlier. Does the Harbin system have a point max to discourage running up the score? For instance, winning by 40+ provides the most points you can get for a win over an opponent, regardless if it's 41 or 101.

If I wasn't sure I'd question, not yell. I've definitely been wrong before and will be again. Everyone has made assumptions in this thread. No different than you assuming he didn't know the rule. Should've clarified, NOW I know who coaches the team. I've yelled balk too, but only when it's a balk. A lot of times when someone yells balk, everyone stops and looks around. Hell, the third base coach may even know the rule and still yelled it to ensure his kid was safe. Whether anyone wants to call this coach 'bush' or not, you can't put blame on the other coach, it's fall baseball. Which brings me back to my initial point... I don't consider "only concerned with winning" and "all-time fall wins record" as calling someone classless. If I knew all the details and thought he was, I'd come out and say it...
