Top 5 Mr. Football candidates for 2006
MOJO replied to tha champ's topic in KY Football (High School)
If you include Ross Deaton for Mr. Football, I'd say you'd have to include Daniel Pugh from Paintsville. I felt that Pugh was the best QB in that region last season. -
Paintsville lost 11 or 12 to graduation this past season and return maybe 4 or 5 that will be seniors this season.

Any workout Copley supervises has to be intense.

No doubt safe, a few years back I seen a player leap a tag and side swipe the bag while go into the slide after leaping the tag. It was a nice play but that was just amazing.
-
A few other guys to look for this year for Paintsville is Kyle Sublett FB/LB, J.J. Hensley C/DL, Casey Brown OL/DL, and Shane Cantrell RB/LB.

Was this an invite only try-out?? -
Harless doesn't even play 2B, he plays third.
-
East favorite?? I think that's an understatement, I don't think the teams were divided equally.
-
The region has also became a lot more competitive since that time as well.

I was thinking about the boy last night, hadn't got to check in on him. Being in around the medical field myself, sounds like a lot of positive things. We'll keep praying for him. Get well soon big guy. Need anything else, just give us a yell. What is family for? Stay strong! -

How about Peanut?? In 1985, he played 12 games with the Giants, then was traded to the Clevland Indians where he played 11 more games. After being traded again, he finished the 85' season with the Pirates playing in 22 games. After a year off, he joined the Oakland A's in 1987 and played among players like Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Reggie Jackson, and Dennis Eckersley. After that season he retired after only playing 20 games that entire season in his 12th season at the age of 33. -
The Warriors did shock, as they pulled off an upset over host Pike Co. Central 10-8. Paintsville didn't go with 1 or 2 against P-burg and won 6-1. Maybe that's what PCC thought, but East Ridge came to play today. Paintsville may not pitch there #2 tomorrow against East Ridge either.

Who had the hardest hit in hs football you have ever seen?
MOJO replied to the wizzard's topic in KY Football (High School)
I can't remember who the player was now, but Paintsville came home walking wounded after playing in Grundy, VA in 2004. I can remember it was on a punt, and Grundy had a speedy returner. All of the Tigers cover team went run straight at the returner, and one hung back assuming he was the protector or the punter. Well the kid from Grundy broke free down the sidelines and the player from Paintsville was running dead red for him. When out of no where, BOOM!! a Grundy blocker took him out. The Paintsville players head hit first, and he was out for a few seconds. I can't remember for the life of me who it was but someone told me when he woke up the first thing he heard was Milt Preston's voice and then he started to get up but started vomitting through his facemask. You know it's a hit when the announcer over the loudspeaker says some obscenities. -
Someone was going to draw SC as a #2, so 3 of the favorites were going to end up in the same brackett regardless. Yeah Paintsville, skimmed by in the first one in extra innings. Not to take away from PC, because they may have done the same but Paintsville hardly played any varsity starters passed the 2nd inning in the second game. Pike Central with home field advantage may be a very tough second round contest for Paintsville or Prestonsburg. The Tigers must first get by P-burg before this game should be even mentioned and in the case GOOD LUCK TIGERS! :ylsuper:

Scores are now on the KHSAA scoreboard, and yes it was a double header. They split, Paintsville won the first one 8-7 in 9 and PCC won the second 12-6.

May God bless the Crisp family, all who knew him and the Westwood Community. My thoughts and prayers go out to each of you. -
Congrats to LC, it seems like they have the Panthers number this year.

I like NCC, lost a good friend to a car accident when I was a junior in high school. It was definitely something tough to deal with. May God Bless him and his family along with the medical staff that is caring for him. He'll be in my thoughts and prayers. -
Don't think Paintsville threw their top pitchers against Pikeville this last time either.

Actually Pugh got the win if I'm not mistaken and Blanton took the loss. -
Isn't this the same school that Shawn Kemp attended after he left UK??
