I didnt know about the "scratch" rule and assuming you are correct then obviously Coach OHearn didnt use this procedure this year. IF Coach OHearn has a "scratch" available he should use it next year to keep Hudson away from the Royals and hope he doesnt get assigned to the 10th regional tournament again.

I dont believe coaches have anything to say about the selection of referees as assignments are made an independent coordinator or maybe a committee but the coach is not involved at all. Looks like Hudson is up to his tricks from last year when referrring MC games. Hudson refereed in the 10 Regional finals last year and made many bad calls. The most ridiculous one was not calling an over and back when Preston Knowles had the ball slip out of his hand close to half court in the front court and the ball went into the back court. Hudson who didnt call anything. The only way Hudson can make this call is for Knowles to be shooting the ball as it isnt over and back if the plalyer is shooting. Knowles was standing near half court, sideways to the basket when the ball slipped out of his hand and no way could even Knowles shoot from that angle. Just hope Hudson is not assigned to the 10th regional tourney this year.

I posted after game with Scott Co. that Royals were not mentally tough. Tonight there were mentally tough, players made plays when they had to, helped teammates and morst of all refused to get beat by a very, very good team. GREAT win for the Royals. Learn from this and just get better.

Great win for the Saints and now to win the A. There are the dominant team now.

Not to mention running the floor real hard every play. Now that is playing for real.

This too is a constructive post. I am certain the MC coaches had a lot to say about how the Royals played especially against Scott and Catholic. I also imagine the players had a chance to hear about it and see the action at the same time on film. This is a very talented, hardworking group of young men. However, it does seem to me at times this teams seem to lack what is sometimes referred to as "mental toughness." Difficult to define but one aspect is to play hard every play regardless of score or opponent (this isnt as easy as it sounds) , being smart as well as aggressive, stepping up to make a play when going gets tough and maybe teammates are having a hard time. Lastly making sure the game is what it is a time to play hard and have fun. I am talking about intangibles here but much of sports performance is based on intangibles and the mental aspect of the game. just seems to me that although MC, the majority of time, has played mentail tough but there have been some breakdowns To get where this team can go need to eliminate the breakdowns. They were mentally tough against a very good Centennial team and came out victorious. Another test will be coming Friday with Catholic. Go ROYALS!!!

Very nice comeback for the Royals. Pawsat, the freshman ,played very well and played several minutes. Setty righted his ship as well. Next weekend game with Catholic will be a classic. The zone was effective in stopping the fast guards and was key to this win. Might have to use this more against Kentucky teams who have slashers.
