I'm not discrediting what they did and I agree with you. I'm just stating how it's different in basketball vs football. You can gang up in football but basketball won't allow for this. Unless you have "A Gouine" on the team. Make sure he has his pads on though!

Good example, Trinity folk get on here and "brag" about holding Shawn Alexander to under 100 yards during their state game. I believe it was the only game all year he was held to that number. Could Trinity have held Pistol Pete to under 40 points, I don't think so! Different game Basketball than Football. In football you can have several guys on the other teams best player but in basketball you can maybe double team for a while but not the whole game.

Might have been a reason everyone was talking about Southwestern and Boyle Co. Both advance to the 12th Regional championship game. Going to be a game with two different styles of play. One wants to run and score 60 to 70 the other wants the slow play and score 30 to 40. We'll know by 9pm. which one works.

Your right, I was thinking about myself. When I started school the cut off date was Dec. I started first grade when I was 5 going on 6 and finished school when I was 17 and 1/2. I know why I'm so messed up NOW!!!

5 in kindergarden going on 6. First grade is usually when this takes place.

Did you read the article, Artose Pinner was apparently over the age limit in 1997-1998 school year when he was playing at Hopkinsville HS. He was 19 years old almost 20 playing high school football. Razz, if you look back in my post(#20) you'll see I stated that if we could change things for a chosen few I'm all for it. It's almost impossible to allow it though. The flood gates will be open so wide, I just can't explain to you what the effects would be and people running to the courts with cases. Let's say they did change it to July 1st. and then how long do you think that will last as the cut off date. It has to end somewhere. You aren't the first person this date has affected and won't be the last. You seem to be a very bright young lady and if playing soccer is what you want to do you'll make it. Don't look at this thing as just being against you it's against a lot of kids that play high school sports. If I was hearing this case as a judge you make a good case for yourself and it may work out for you, in the past there have been a few allowed to play over the age limit. I started this post to see how people felt about the age limit in high school it wasn't about you directly. I just used your case as an example of what can happen to certian kids. I hope you get to come to Murray State and play soccer. I'll make it a point to follow your story. You asked me if I was going there the answer is no, my son is going there to play football starting this fall. If you feel like I was attacking you I'm very, very, truely sorry if that is how you took it. If you had a kid playing sports that was 16 going on 17 their senior year would you think it's fair they compete against someone already 19 and a half. NO!!

One of the best officiated games I've been to this season. (20 and counting) It was a great game to be at and the officials did call it close but I've been to games where they get so out of control it's not even entertaining because everyone is upset and not cheering. BS had a chance to tie the game with under a minute to go but missed the shot. Their press really caused some turn overs late in the game. As far as the kids rushing the floor once again the official had to call a technicial foul on the student body. Great game both teams it's sad for the loser and joyous for the winner. On my score card both teams were winner last night one of the best high school games I was ever at. Both teams and both crowds were great. Tip of the hats to the officials which isn't often enough!

JD Dog, & Old-One I can understand you points but if you allow a few things to get by then you open the flood gates of every possible complaint there is. Example( He/she was born a month early, I was unable to send him/her to school at the right time (money). I moved at the wrong time and the school wouldn't allow him/her to start on time.) The list just begins. I know it's bad and if we could change it for a chosen few I'm all for it but reality is you can't. You really can't have late 19 year old kids play sports with 16 year olds.

I feel like the ball movement that EJ will see against SW will create open looks from the three point line. SW will drive to the basket if that is the opition you give them. The score will determine the defense EJ plays to me if you pressure the three point line you give up two pointers on made baskets or rebound put backs. If you play off the three point line and they start making them it's lights out. Good luck to both teams.

What does everyone think of the age limit that has been set for high school students to be eligible to play ball. The current is can't be 19 before Aug. 1 senior year in high school. I'm going to attach an article about a girls parents trying to get this changed. She a soccer player. I put this discussion in football because I know there have been several players this involved. Now I feel it should be left where it is because like the article said "where does it end". You back it up for one player then another and so on. I read where some states allow 20 year olds to play high school ball. Can you see your 17 year old, going on 18 playing with (to me) men, 19 or almost 20 year olds. By the time my son reaches 20 he will be a sophmore in college, no place for kids of this age in high school. Saw both teams last night. Both teams looked good second halfs shaking off the first game first half jetters. It will be Southwestern from three point line verses East Jessamine inside game. If EJ can get a lead and can control the clock will be a good one. If EJ has trouble with letting SW get open three's it will be over in a hurry. I look for it to be a good game as long as EJ is not having to come from behind all night. Good luck both teams.
