  1. The Bowling Green boys and girls combined record through the District T. is 48-8. This is the best we have done in my memory. Just wondering what some other schools' records were.
  2. And what would you do if the coach did this?
  3. For those so inclined, alcohol is not permitted on school grounds. That is a state law.
  4. The address of the school is 1801 Rockingham Ave, Bowling Green, Ky. Do a Yahoo map or Google map. Instead of turning on Wilkinson turn left onto Ashley Circle then Westen Ave. and the school is on the left, Rockingham, very obvious. The field is just past the school also very obvious. Not counting time to find a parking place the hotel is within 5 minutes of the field. Questions? Ask.
  5. I predict that Horn will stay in BG, unless he is offered a job somewhere else.
  6. Wallace TE Moore WR Carpenter DB
  7. No state money, no tax money, it is the same as a county school taking a student from another state.
  8. Independent schools are public schools and are governed by the same laws and regulations. They are not the same or even close to the private schools. Students are enrolled on the basis of contracts between school systems. If you do not have a contract you are not going to receive any state funds for the student (no system gets the money). Since they live out of district you are also not going to receive any tax revenue for the student. Independents cannot just declare open enrollment and take all students no matter where they live. Open enrollment (unless you have a totally incompetent school board) can only occur within a district, not between districts.
  9. not to be picky but col-fan is correct you cannot average averages except under limited circumstances. you also cannot average ratings systems that are not based on the same scale.
  10. Coming south on 65 take the first exit, just past the corvette plant, to 31W south. Make no turns from this road and you will go right by the stadium. (After you cross the barren river 31w turns left. You do not follow 31w, you will then be on highway 68.) Remember no turns, you should not have to use your turning signal at all, even thought the road meanders a little. The stadium is on the left. You can park anywhere on campus according to the traffic/police dept. If you are interested in food/drink you need to come on down 65 to exit 22. You will have plenty of choices, most of the chain places are represented near this exit. From there ask directions to the stadium. I do not know the ticket prices, but would guess $8-10. If this is not clear let me know.
  11. I can't let this comment go unanswered. Coaches, particularly assistants, do not earn high wages for their work, most are working for a love of the game and love of the players. But an increment of $8000 is about one dollar an hour if they work every hour of every day in the year. (8760 hours in a year)
  12. "But the QB and RB have no effect on defense." They have a tremendous effect on the defense, without them the offense sputters and the defense has to play many more plays than usual. The defense gets tired. How many times have you heard it espressed that the offense being three and out is really hard on the defense?
  13. Sorry about the link. Article below. Bowling Green High grad, refugee gets full ride to MIT Brian White, The Daily News, bwhite@bgdailynews.com Published: August 2, 2006 Ervin Puskar may have a full scholarship to MIT, but the Bowling Green High School graduate is proudest of his accomplishments in English class and on the football field. When Puskar, 18, arrived in the United States from Bosnia 10 years ago, he was already a math whiz, but he didn’t speak English and was a “little scrawny thing,” he said in an interview last week. Today, he is an alumnus of the football team’s defensive line and speaks English without an accent. Puskar earned the highest score on the exam for senior advanced-placement English. “I got a five in English, which is pretty amazing for me,” he said. (You'll have to follow the above link for the full story)
  14. Congratulations Ervin. http://www.bgdailynews.com/articles/2006/08/02/features/stories/features1.txt
  15. http://dl1.dumpalink.com/media/Kxfjwu7AY5jg/NKgfUwmftsA8.wmv I cut it down to the properties so the other crap on the site would not show up. I can't see where it's been faked in any way, nor do I know who this is. It is amazing though!!! Thoughts? :thumb:  :creepy:
  16. I agree, most people overlook the offense. They are the third ranked 3A offense and rank first in scoring margin. Congratulations to all the guys who made one of the AP all state teams. Macdon are you going to the game?
  17. Actually there are, according to your numbers and assuming an even distribution, about 1300 students per grade in elementary school and about 1500 per grade in high school. You cannot compare raw numbers with no context. There are nine elementary grades and only four at the high school level.
  18. "Open enrollment" is a decision determined by the District School Board. The KHSAA has nothing to do with that decision.
  19. Tigerkat--Please document your statement that the Jefferson County School System receives about 16,000 dollars per year for each student.
  20. As I read KHSAA ByLaw 10 there is no legal recruitment. I suggest that if any poster has not read the document that you do so. Open enrollment is a choice of the local Board of Education for each public district. Open enrollment does not cross district boundary lines. For students living in one district to attend another district and have their ADA follow them contracts between districts must be signed. The receiving district may also charge tuition. If a district is allowing students to attend without receiving their ADA or tuition equivalent they are doing a disservice to their own patrons, educating out-of-district students for free.
