This is the first ever matchup between the two schools, Rock Rolls!

Comparing an Ind. school district that has roughly 600 kids to a county school that has around 1300 kids is difficult. Corbin is a differnent animal, they have selection of students, they have tradition that goes back to the early 1900's, with students having family ties from generation back, Corbin is unlike almost any county school, they do have a great middle school program right now.

They wouldn't have been allowed to, because it was a sickness issue, there was no school in the county. They would've have to forfeit the game and pay Garrard County though.

Having seen both against the same school, for comparision sake, Perry County Central is faster than Pulaski County, by just a smidgeon. QB WR TB All three of those positions for PCC are faster than PC's guys, although #24 for PC or Abner poses the best threat against the Commodores, speed wise.

Not sure if that was at me or not but I'm sure not whining or complaining, just stating facts. It would've been a $4,000 penalty for Lincoln County. SWP does have speed and I think it will be a dry field this Friday. Harlan County is the big underdog especially after getting beat by 4 touchdowns earlier and with SWP big DL back. Where was he the first game?

90% of the time though 9th graders do not contribute to the varsity team in AAAAA football, therefore, they are taught the offense/defense in freshmen football during their 10 week schedule and season. The 10% of time that some do contribute are good enough to adjust to a different offense/defense from July to August.

It would be fine because in the end, there are still that many kids playing football, regardless of the offense/defense they run. The alternative, 40 or more kids staying at home playing football on TV. The middle schools have a lot of communication through Coach Larkey and the high school, 3 middle schools isn't a problem, 1 would be though.

If people are saying that Pulaski offered Lincoln a game last Friday, then that isn't much of or a fair alternative, I mean they would still be forfeiting a game and would have to pay a forfeit fee of probably $4,000 to break the contract. About the game; Harlan County is the big underdog and a win on the road in the playoffs isn't anything new to the 2nd year team but SWP is clicking and has a great team; this is probably the worst team the Blackbears could've matched up with in the playoffs because of SWP size and speed, regardless it should be a better game than the first one and I don't think anyone predicted realistically that Harlan County would've been in a 3 way tie for 1st place and sitting at 7-3 at the beginning of the season after losing so many seniors/starters from last years team and starting so many freshmen this season.

I like that score, although it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the score was reversed in PCC favor.

Do you have participation numbers for Evarts, Cumberland and New Harlan? It would be interesting to see.

I think you are missing the grand point though, while competition is definately encouraged at this level, it isn't really the emphasis to level the playing field for middle school, because middle school participation is for the enhancement for the high school. Evarts or Cumberland shouldn't worry about having an equal playing field against New Harlan, because it is about each schools progression towards the high school. Not too mention Cumberland beat New Harlan this year once. It is really simple; 3 or more schools are excellent. 1 middle school will hurt the participation in all sports 3 years after the fact and it will not recover. Not to mention there are 3 quality teams in Harlan County that are excellent middle school programs, all 3 of them will join together at the high school and be a force in a few years.

WOW. Unreal how far HopTown has fallen.

There is no convincing him any different. He is the only one in the state that feels otherwise.

I may be having trouble following but are people saying that having 3 middle schools is a bad thing? If anything it is a postive. There are more kids playing football, more parents involved, there are 3 QB's coming in as 9th graders, there are 15 lineman that have started coming in as 9th graders, 3 TB's, etc. When Rockcastle County went to one middle school, the numbers fell drastically and have never recovered; that was in 1994. No way do you want to get rid of what Harlan County has, that is a super positive.

Clay County was a good team, someone had to get beat in the district they were in and it just so happened to be them and no one would show them respect because they didn't have a district win, but they were a good team. All 6 teams in the district were very good this year. Clay County has the most returning next year and will be a very hard team to keep out of the first 2 seeds for the playoffs.

But they beat the #1 seed, weird year all around.

Go Rockcastle County! Stop the dual FB's and you'll have a great shot. You'll get your rushing yards with Rowe against WC's defense, just shut down the fullbacks, WC cannot win throwing the ball all night, they may throw 5 times max.

I noticed that you can now view the past schedules of teams and their records straight from this seasons schedule. When you go to a teams schedule, it will say "other seasons for Team A" with a drop down list of all seasons to 1998. We are very fortunate to have what we have in Kentucky with the records and schedules that the KHSAA have upkept, I'm just wondering if there is any way of expanding the years of schedules to go back further than 1998? Anyone to contact?

This is an easy game to pick, whichever team Coach Poynter is coaching at wins. I guess that mean Bourbon County. Trimble County would be a lot worse off right now without the past couple of years of Poynter at the helm.

You continue to have some sort of weird phobia with giving North Laurel any credit. They beat the #1 team in that district, they beat the #3 team in that district, they beat the #2 team in one of the toughest 4A districts in Knox Central and they beat Clay County by 4-5 scores with their stud QB. In their district they got beat by PCC by virtually a blocked punt and w/o thier starting RB by 6 points at the very end, holding I might add one of the state leading scoring offenses to only 2 touchdowns, then got beat in a sloppy double overtime game by 1 point when their Kicker missed the game winning PAT. North Laurel has been legitmately beaten by both Corbin and Whitley County and was only down by 1 score to each of them before halftime. The Letcher Central game was a flag party and where North Laurel was flagged for over 225 yards to LCC's 35. Either way, I'll say NL has been beaten outright in 3 games Corbin, Whitley County and Letcher County. The other 2 losses could've went either way in a heartbreaker. This is only showing that they aren't a walk over because they have played everyone really good in their losses. For a team to be 5-5 when they were a blocked punt and an PAT from 7-3 after the last 3 years these seniors record was only 4-26, it speaks well of their play this season. Show some Respect.
