New lights in PIkeville
maroon looneytune replied to 15thSportsFan's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
It is my understanding that the field did not meet minimal lighting standards and the city would not allow night activities on the field until those standards were met. If you ever saw a night game there, left field especially was a hazardous place to be because you were playing in the dark. Have patience. Hopefully everything will be ready to go by opening day. -
How do I become a head coach?
maroon looneytune replied to Fatstacker's topic in KY Football (High School)
Buy a bag of marbles. Cut a small hole in the bottom of the bag so that a marble or two may slip out. When, after a period of time, you have "LOST ALL YOUR MARBLES!!!" you are ready to be a head coach. -
I have seen alot of them in the weight room. I think that says alot about their work ethic already.

Coach Mike Copley runs the defense for the Panthers. They will be pretty good this year. Most of the D-line returns (Shurtleff, Rowe, Bryant), OLB Ted Honaker will be back, Mayo will probably move from FS to MLB, Tim Honaker might be the other LB, the secondary will have Harmon, Sword, & Jackson returning. These guys have been busting their butts in the weight room ever since the loss to Somerset. This will be a very good defensive unit.

To be honest with you, I like the power running game also. However, this year I don't think we had the personel to do that. Next year, I think we will see more of a power game with the Harmon kid. I also think we will see a much stronger group of Panthers. Remember, this staff didn't come on board until April. Copley didn't get hired until late June. Weight training wise, we lost the bulk of the off season. From what I have seen in the weight room since July, the Panthers will be much stronger up front and that will allow for better production running the football. With our junior high team running the same thing as the high school, our kids should be much better at executing on both sides of the ball. There will not be as much of a learning period for our incoming freshmen. Our junior high team came on strong at the end of the year and they will be even better next year. -

You're free to voice whatever you want. I will continue to support our coaches and kids who are working their butts off. The last time I looked 3 of those 4 teams are still playing so they must be pretty decent. What would you want us to do offensely. It appears to me that we do alot more than the old fashioned Wing T. We were in a shotgun with 4 wideouts alot. I feel pretty good about us being better with the more experience we have. But of course I could be wrong. -

If you don't want to support our guys and whine about what we do, then yeah, stay home or go elsewhere. -

It appears to me that all you want to do is disrespect Pikeville and their system. If you don't like it, don't come watch. We'll get over it. -
They show the game they can sell to advertizers.

Execution is the key to any offense. There were a lot of folks who said you couldn't win a state championship running the wishbone either. I guess Belfry mistakenly claimed those two big trophies. -

On offense, the Panthers will return John Michael Mayo at QB; Daniel Harmon, Jacob Sword, Tim and Ted Honaker, Chaz and Mitch Jackson all saw varsity action at the skill positions; Casey Rowe, Brad Bryant, Clay Elliot, Ryan Shurtleff, and Jordan Tibbs all saw time at the OL. On Defense, Mayo, Sword, Harmon, Rowe, Shurtleff, Bryant, Jackson, Tim & Ted Honaker, JD McCoy all started at one time or other. There are plenty of young guys that were close to stepping up by the end of the year also. There might even be a couple of incoming freshman who might see varsity time as well.
