Pikeville Panthers

Featured Replies

I want to thank Coach Mike Jackson, Coach Mike Copley, Coach Mark Wheeler, Coach Eugene Newsome, and Coach Mike Roberts for all the hard work and dedication they have put in to the Panther program. I know our season ended much earlier than we would have like for it to, but I know you guys will be ready to get after our boys in the weight room to make them bigger, faster, and stronger for next season. I feel like our boys learned so much more than football this season, and I just want to say thank you and keep up the good work!

What all does Pikeville have coming back for next season? Pikeville was somewhat down this year, hopefully they will have a productive offseason and be ready to make some noise next year.

From where I was sitting, I saw great sportsmanship on the field and in the stands after this game. Pikeville is a hard-nosed football team, and a good offseason will indeed prepare them to make some noise this year. You can't ever count out the Panthers.

On offense, the Panthers will return John Michael Mayo at QB; Daniel Harmon, Jacob Sword, Tim and Ted Honaker, Chaz and Mitch Jackson all saw varsity action at the skill positions; Casey Rowe, Brad Bryant, Clay Elliot, Ryan Shurtleff, and Jordan Tibbs all saw time at the OL.

On Defense, Mayo, Sword, Harmon, Rowe, Shurtleff, Bryant, Jackson, Tim & Ted Honaker, JD McCoy all started at one time or other. There are plenty of young guys that were close to stepping up by the end of the year also. There might even be a couple of incoming freshman who might see varsity time as well.

We've got a pretty talented freshmen class coming in next year with a couple of good backs in it.

Ill second that!

Pikeville has a well-coached, hard-nosed team that will never embarass their community. They play great football over in the mountains, Somerset was just better this year, just like Pikeville was better the last 2 years. Hats off to the Panthers on another great year. A quick question is the Mike Jackson on the Panther's staff the same Mike Jackson that played quarterback for Corbin in the 80's if so I had to play against him and he was a great player.

That's him.

Coach J will bust their butts in the weight room. With a full off season he will be able to really get the boys into FOOTBALL SHAPE. They will be a faster and stronger team.

I know this is going to upset a lot of you but as long as their main offense is the W-T- they won't win it all.

I will not argue the point, but will let time show this.

I would like nothing more to see P-Ville win it all so to those who say I am not one who roots for the Panthers you are wrong.

Not upsetting this Pikeville fan...you are 100% correct...the ugliest offense ever conceived - bar none - and excrutiating to watch. Please guys, PLEASE...in the name of all that which does not suck...scrap that offense.

Execution is the key to any offense. There were a lot of folks who said you couldn't win a state championship running the wishbone either. I guess Belfry mistakenly claimed those two big trophies.

I stand by NCF and my comments. Talked to many many people in Pikeville who agree with me who have been around much longer than Pikeville's last losing season (which the last one before that was in the 60's :D ) and they all agree with me. :madman:

Maybe you need to get more friends. :D

I personally don't like the Wing-T either and I hope the Panthers can either get a better grasp on the system, which I am sure they will, or go with another offense.
