Sounds like a good start, other than last Friday the weather has been supurb to at least get on the field so hopefully teams have put some good work in while they'll have the chance, the thing about March weather is you never know. How are the three basketball players? Are they also major contributors on the diamond as well?

Well the February baseball date has already been two weeks removed so my question is how are all of your teams looking? Basketball players out yet? Any improved players? How is your team looking, standouts, and what Region are you from? Thoughts, Commments?

I have also moved from the Pikeville area in the past year and I had no clue. Thank's for the good coverage of Pike County sports and wish you the best.:thumb:

Todd "Heff" Conley also dumped over 30 against Kevin Garnett's Maulden High team and still didn't get anywhere. Granted good high school players can score and put up good numbers, but like I said tend to reach their peak or climax around high school. Not too many do much in college if they make a big program, thats why most generally end up at schools such as ALC, Cumberland, Union, Centre, Cambellsville, etc. Furthermore mountain teams can be good, even great and win state championships. See Paintsville/SL for example. But my point is not many mountain players (although great players in high school) do much after their high school careers are over.

Yes they are, and the 13th Region. I did not mention this Region in any of my posts so why point it out?

They are both really good players I have said that, but all I am saying is there is still a huge difference between good mountain players, and good players outside of the mountains.

Who are you to call me inexperienced in high school basketball, apparently you are not familiar with mountain basketball vs. city basketball. How can I be inexperienced when I live it the mountains and admit what is the truth. How many 6'3'' white boys from the mountains (without hops) make it to a good or even decent D-1 school? Like JD said, furthermore, how many have went to a big school and actually stayed? Not many because they soon realized they were out of place and would never make it off the end of the bench. Players like Jody Thompson and Todd "Heff" Conley were two of the best not only to come from the mountains, but the entire state. Two of the best in Kentucky "High School" basketball history, but what happened? And where did they go to? Correct me if im wrong but Thompson left UK for Pikeville and Conley, what Georgetown to ???????? My point exactly, so quit hating. I admited Lowe and May are nice players, but comparing them to Dunaway and others is absurd. Nice players in this area, but good luck to them at Alice Lloyd, Cumberland, or if they get lucky enough Cambellsville. They are mountain players and if they have any future after their senior years, it will continue to be in the mountains. :thumb:

It dosen't matter how good you are in the 15th, it's not meant for you to be recongnized. The thing Dunaway has over these guys is he plays top notch in state competition night in and out. On the otherhand the 15th Region is filled with a bunch of teams that can basically only play with themselves and teams from the 16th and 14th's. It hurts to say but the athleticism in the mountains just dosen't compare to that outside. True they are very good players in the mountains, but their upsides aren't that great compared to those in the cities because they are no where near as athletic. Pretty much meaning players such as Dunaway only have room to get better as while most players in the mountains will continue to peak out in high school.

Pretty nice place to host basketball, two very large big screen scoreboards on one end (much like the two in Rupp) and another longer stadium type scoreboard/screen on the other end. Should be one of the finest places a regional tournament will be held this year. Ive caught both Pikeville College games at the Expo Center and it is a fabulous place to watch/play basketball. Having the tournament there should be a privlege to all eight teams who make it.
