Personally, I neither had nor heard any complaints. This was only my second time there (I live way out of town), and last night was an event rather than a standard meal, but the service was fine when I was there in June. Your mileage may vary.
It was a real honor tonight to meet the men from the '92 Team tonight. A classy very bunch and worthy of the term "Champion" in every sense of the word.
And I am truly blessed to call the Men of the '82 squad teammates and five other great individuals Coach. We played as a team and they coached as a team to gain an incredible title.
Thank you to Highlands and the organizers of this event for making this happen. And a special shout-out to Mio's. What a great night.
I think we were 20th in USA Today and 24th by AP, but I am old and feeble-minded now and don't remember so good.
Regardless, a Bird on Bird game would be hard fought and fun to play in and/or watch.
Who from the '82 and '92 teams are looking to come to this? Let us know so we can fill you in on the details. I know I have teammates who regularly read Bluegrass Preps but I don't know whether they are coming. We are really looking hard for juniors and sophomores from the '82 team.
Well, looks like it is a go!
I'll be there. Who else will be there with us? I've put together a FB page for the 1982 Team (Fort Thomas Highlands '82 Football State Champs).
Highlands basketball team is off to a rocky start because 4 of their waterboys are also on the football team's water squad. It will take them a while to get into basketball shape, but once they do, look out. I'm just glad that these boys are not only allowed but also encouraged to carry water for other sports.
I have it too. And no, not a knock on that team at all. Just a comment about the numbers then vs now on the Freshman team. If the '79 team had one more player, I never would have seen the field.
How many of these Kentucky Boys played for a state champion this year? No one from Highlands or Trinity on the roster. Why are two of the best teams not represented on this all-state team? And does the Tennessee team have the same situation?
