Good Luck Sheldon Clark! I went to school with Coach Hager and he is a great guy, so I will be pulling for the Cardinals to get the win.

It was just a simple statement that I asked. I don't think that Danville/Beechwood/NCC think much about Pikeville every year and you said the whole state. As far as Coach Haywood goes..he takes no one lightly. That's what makes a great coach different from a good one. Like I said...Good Luck to the Panthers. I hope that Belfry and Pikeville both advance.

I used that word for lack of something else. I, too, think they were the best period. Although, we all know that some will begin to name a few that they think was comparable, just for the sake of argument.

Don't get me wrong..I will be pulling for Pikeville this Friday, BUT what has Pikeville done the past few years to make this statement true? Good Luck Pikeville.

One more thing.....I hereby challenge all Belfry fans to have CAM Stadium rocking this Friday night. I haven't seen or felt the Pirate Spirit come to life in the new facilities yet and I think it's about dang time they did!!!! Let's go Belfry!

I don't think that Middlesboro is experienced enough to play with the Pirates. I know that Belfry had to replace what was arguably the best backfield to come out of Belfry High School, but I have to give a ton of respect to Matt, Corey and Dustin for stepping up and taking over. I don't think the Pirates are ready to hang up their cleats just yet, so they will dig in and get ready for week 3 of the playoffs. Belfry 36 Middlesboro 20

One of the hardest hits I remember seeing was in the 2003 Belfry/Lloyd Playoff game. Belfry's Tyler Bostic nailed a Lloyd player coming up the middle. It was HHHUUUGGGEEE!!!! :scared:

I know a few coaches that never touched a football, but know the sport inside and out. They have the ability to TEACH the sport and how to deal with the kids they are teaching. Then, I also know of coaches who were football players (good ones) that try to be coaches but do not have the patience or ability to pass the knowledge on to the kids the way it should be. So, to answer my own question....No, I do not think that just because you played the sport makes you a good coach.

Here's my question.... Does being an ex-football player (college or pro) automatically make you a good coach?

You are not only an outstanding football player, but by reading your post I can see that you are also an outstanding young man. I'm sure I speak for all Belfry fans when I say that we appreciate all the players from both teams allowing us the opportunity to witness such determination and talent this past Friday night.
