I disagree that the west was much better than the East! There were three solid teams in the east that could have beaten OC! Belfry, Russell, and Newport would have given it all to the west! I also feel as if there may have been three good teams in the West (OC, Ft. Campbell, and Trigg). I have to give the edge to the East!

I think it has a lot to do with supporting teams from you area! I don't see anything at all wrong with that! It just shows that we are willing to admit that a better team from our part of the state beat us and we want then to keep the trophy in that part of the state! It made Belfry look better when Russell won state! I will use 2A as the example! Russell last year was beat by the best team and wished us well on our trip to the Box! We did the same for them this year! We want that title to remain in Eastern KY to show that we are the 2A power of the state! I think it just shows that we are very proud of our area no matter if it is Northern, Eastern, or Western! It is a fact that you must beat the East to be 2A champs the past 4 years!

Lets look at a few things and test your theory! Covington Catholic beat NCC 42-0! Beechwood beat NCC 24-21! Covington beat Beechwood 28-14! Covington was 2 TD's better than Beechwood! Covington was 6 TD's better than NCC! Beechwood was 3 points better than NCC! They should have beaten NCC by 2 more TD's! I don't think we will ever know! Each and every team matches up different in each game! You also played Newport the 2nd week of the season! What would the score have been a few weeks ago? Russell would have given a great game to NCC! I think over all they would have beaten NCC based on the fact that they lost only one game on a very difficult schedule compared to 2 loses by NCC on a very difficult schedule! The only way to know would be to play it! I think Belfry and NCC might get to play next year! Is that what you are hearing?

I look for the East to be loaded again in 2006! I think Belfry will have something to say about Russell going again, but I do think Russell will be the team to beat! They are the best now and you know how that goes! To be the best you have to beat the best!

I sure hope so! I don't think we will ever get the respect of Mike Fields in Eastern KY! Thanks again Russell for keeping Eastern KY on the football map!

That is so true! Belfry lost 3 times before they got one! All three of those teams had some great players that made us proud! Enjoy the many wins and fun that you the fans, players, and coaches had this season! It took us 17 years to get back and win one!

You walked all over Belfry in 2003 also and we went on to win it! I guess all of the 2A teams will be trying to get Boyd on their schedule next year!

Great job Russell! We were all pulling for you and you didn't let us down! The Trophy will stay in the East for the 4th year in a row! Enjoy every minute of this great accomplishment! OC keep your heads up! You guys have a great team that has made the West fear you! You need to regroup OC and just maybe you can get another shot at Russell or Belfry to even things up next year!

I do agree with what you are saying! However, I feel as if the two teams this year were closer matched than last year!

I agree, I hate that who wants it more! The first half went to Russell because of what they were doing not what Belfry wasn't doing!

I feel as if a lot of fans from both sides are way off on this thread! This was a great game that we as fans were very lucky to witness. Both teams, fans and coaches know this game could have went any way! This was nothing but a great game! Russell has a great team and made the play when needed to close it out! The int from Belfry was due to the fact the pass was a little late and gave the defender a chacne to close on the ball! I agree that Belfry was very lucky not to be down 35-0 at the half! 35 not 34 because the Russell two point try failed. I do think that was a very poor call on the Russell staff that could have changed their entire season! I also think that Belfry had a chance to score two more TD's in the second half but failed to do so! I think Haywood went to the pass alittle to much at the end with 2 time outs! I am only a fan not a coach and those are decisions for others to make! I wasn't down when I left that game! It was a great game with two teams leaving it all on the field! That was all as fans that we asked for all week, and we got it! I cannot let this game get me as a fan due to the fact that Belfry has made me very proud and happy to be a Belfry Pirate the last three years! Russell is the only 2A team to beat Belfry in three years! That says a lot about Belfry and Russell! Good lucky Russell next week you have EARNED the respect and right to fight for Eastern KY next week for the 2A title! I support you 100% and want to see this title back in Eastern KY! It has also been said that Russell played a better schedule! I am thinking this might be even! The teams Russell played are 78-64! The teams Belfry played are 76-73!

I guess I will be taking 64 most of the way!!!

I feel as if both teams are very good ball teams. I do wonder if Russell has some defence issues! They have given up a lot of points in some of their games! This will be a great game! I know in my heart that Russell will have a hard time with Belfry moving the ball down the field. I don't know enough about Russell to say what our D will do with them! I think a lot of people feel as if we are more like Russell of last year (one back team like Gross). This Belfry team has three backs with over 1,000 yards each. This team is very close to the Belfry team of last year in that regard. I feel that Russell may be more like Belfry now with three backs that are very good! This also is a great post! I will not pull for Russell any this week, but I will have your back all the way if it is your team in the Pizza Box and not mine! 2A will once again have a great team from Eastern KY to make it very difficult on the West!
