  1. A friend of mine told me that this is the last year for the blind draw. Next year the teams will be seeded...as they should be.
  2. It may have been a good coaching move based on the players UK had. However, therein lies the problem. Tubby recruited the players he wanted to fit into HIS system. Tubby's offense dictated the type of athletes he recruited. The players did not dictate Tubby's style of play.
  3. I have a feeling that it will be Billy Donovan. My sources have also mentioned the $3 million per year...who knows maybe they are the same sources...lol.
  4. This shot was justice for Iroquois. They got the shaft on the majority of the calls in the second half...especially on the foul called on the three-point shot.
  5. McCarty said today that the x-rays came back negative and there is no broken bone. It is just severely bruised.
  6. I saw an article in the Lexington Herald a few weeks ago advertising a Casino Night for Lexington Catholic High School, including a full bar.
  7. From alll accounts, it was purportedly said on the field following the game as Coach Matney was addressing his players.
  8. Once these quotes were pieced together and put into context they make a lot more sense. As has already been stated, this is no different than what other coaches would have said in similar circumstances. Keep in mind, he had already watched as Blake Johnson went out of the game witha knee injury and as Shawn Grimm was carted off the field on a stretcher with what appeared to be a serious neck injury at the time. From the quotes listed, it sounds as though Coach Matney held it together pretty well under the circumstances. Nice work Guru!
  9. I will say this...I was thoroughly impressed with Cov Cath Friday night at Johnson Central. Their efficiency was impressive and the QB has a cannon. I was also impressed with the offensive line. They blew JC off the ball all night long and kept the Golden Eagles out of the backfield as well. The routes were run with precision and the receivers were very athletic. They also had the ability to run the stretch and the back was very quick. I look for Cov Cath to win it all. To quote h.s.sportsrbest, "If Bowling Green comes out of this game with a win they will have flat-out earned it."
  10. Just so you know I was typing my comment as you posted that request.
  11. Let me be the first to say (in this thread at least) that Covington Catholic has a great team and I wish them well at state. The fans that I talked to showed nothing but class. I just hope that some Johnson Central fans (one in particular) can keep their mouths shut about things that should be kept in-house. Have some sense and act like a grown up. That was ridiculous.
  12. I believe that there is an underlying advantage in favor of Johnson Central in the game. And, it is one that I have not heard mentioned. Everyone had heard about Cov Cath playing Elder, St. X, Highlands, Watterson...etc...and how tough that schedule is. Everyone has also been informed of how JC's schedule does not compare with that of the Colonels. Johnson Central has the advantage of knowing just how good Cov Cath is. Cov Cath does not have the advantage of knowing just how good Johnson Central is. Actually, Johnson Central may not even know how good they are. Therein lies the advantage. I believe JC will be prepared for Cov Cath more than Cov Cath will be prepared for JC simply because they will have had the advantage of having seen the Colonels face these football powerhouses. Conversely, Cov Cath has not been able to watch JC against the powerhouse teams and will not know how JC will react in these situations. And, maybe...just maybe...Cov Cath has bought into the weak schedule argument against JC and will not take them as seriously as they should. I know that the coaches will take JC seriously...but will the players?
  13. Thanks for clearing that up. BTW...does Cov Cath have guys that are as fast as oldone seems to think?
  14. I will admit that I do not know as much about Cov Cath as many on here do. With that said, I had no idea that Cov Cath had guys that could run a 1.67 40time. (that is assuming that many of JC's speed guys run only a 5 flat 40...which most, if not all, of them are faster than that). Sounds like the Colonels speedsters need to be running in the Olympics. JC has also done a good job of getting penetration into the backfield. And that, as most knowledgeable football fans know, is a pretty good defense against speed. It's hard to get to top speed when the point of first contact occurs in the backfield. I hope that the rest of Cov Cath fans, coaches and players are as confident as you seem to be. Go Eagles!!!
  15. I do know that this is the first meeting between Johnson Central and Cov Cath.
  16. I honestly don't believe that anyone got their feelings hurt over the statement. Was it a big deal...no. Was it insulting...no. Did it give us JC fans a chance to poke a little fun at Mr. Wehry's expense...yes. But it's all in good fun. I truly hope that he understands that no one here in Johnsonville is upset. We are looking forward to the game and I hope I get the opportunity to meet Mr. Wehry and thank him for the fun he has afforded me.
  17. 13-1 is no small feet and would be something to be extremely proud of. However, I believe that this team is capable of a lot more...and they believe it too. The game against Rock proved that to me. I look for this team to make an appearance on the carpet and once you get there...anything can happen.
  18. It could pose a problem...especially in the kicking game. Popham (sp?) is the best kicker in the state. But, there is a big difference between kicking on turf and kicking in the mud.
