I'll voice my opinion as I feel. That is what that membership money is for. I can be as objective as anybody. Those are a couple of kids with plenty of potential, but ask anybody not from Mboro that watches 13th region ball and they will tell you that no Mboro players belong in the top 5 right now. I will tell you one thing I am for with Middlesboro. That is getting a new coach. The series has become something of a joke because they cant get a coach over there. I'd like to see the rivalry actually mean something. Plus, I have been away from the area for long enough that I don't hold childish grudges against Middlesboro.

I know what you guys mean. There was really no excuse for that Bell team to not make it to state and make some noise other than coaching. Whitaker ran that team 10-12 deep all year and ran teams out of the gym, then when the postseason came around he shortened the bench and struggled more than they should have. No excuse for 13 talented juniors and seniors to get beat by that Clay team other than coaching. He always seemed to tighten up in the postseason.

Not true. Angelo was at Red Bird at least his freshman year of high school. Maybe he grew up in the Clay Co. system, but he wasnt there all 4 years of HS.

Of the top 5 players in the region. Get real...

Clay Co. also got Angelo Smith from Red Bird in 00-01 season to help them make it to state that year.

Actually met him not too long ago. Nice guy.

Note I said a few years ago. Those 3 would have been this past year.

I havent seen the kid, but a lot of people seem to be saying move him down and put St. John up there, among other things. I didn't see enough 13th region ball last year to make a list I would be comfortable with, but I have an idea of your MO here.

Nathan Popp went from Shelby Co. to Lex. Cath. Eric Ely went from Middlesboro to Bell Co. Eric Fields went from North Laurel to South Laurel. Daniel Dillon came to North Laurel from Australia. There will be the kid that went from Manual to Jtown that had to sit out last year that had committed to UMass. His name escapes me at the moment. I'm thinking one of the "Big 3" at Lex. Cath. a few years ago was a transfer.

You can't help yourself because you dont want to catch flak for naming an undeserving Harlan Co. kid in the top 5 without having other kids listed...

goldenrule, why aren't you taking PM's? I would take a question to this to PM's, but its not really possible.

I've spoken with some people that have been over at SC's open gyms, and they tell me that Jackson and Guyn CAN shoot. Guyn apparently runs that show over there and has developed a pretty good step back jumper as well as a good 3 point shot. Jackson has shot well from the outside, but word is he doesn't get much lift on his outside shots. At 6'8 in HS, do you have to be really quick? Manning is young, but is well beyond the freshman that will be listed beside his name. Phares will be a star and the focal point of the offense, so why do the other guys need to be all-world? I dont think you really need 2 "superstars" on a high school team. SC is getting a lot of run because of the transfers, and if Mason Co. had an inkling of a great team next year this place would be flooded with them.

Exactly. Folks outside of the area have no idea what goes into working at Toyota. I have been looking into the process for myself lately, and I really dont think there is anyway that SC could have any bearing on anything. Toyota is too big and is a worldwide company. It's foolish for some to think Toyota can be influenced by little ol' Scott Co. School system.

Guyn will be much better, Phares will be better as well as his perimeter game should be developing. Manning will play as a freshman and has the ability to be a D1 type player. Probably should have played more this year as an 8th grader. Ford would be a solid, heady PG. Ivey would be coming in as a freshman ready to contribute. SC has a very solid Freshman class this year with people that could be ready to contribute. Will Shue has apparently improved a lot as another post guy they could use, Ryan Walker would be a solid kid off the bench that may not get to play now. If anything, the roles would be more definined next year without the transfers, as several kids thought they should be something they werent on this years team. I say they are definitely a top 10 team in the state without the transfers of Euton and Jackson. They are probably 1 or 2 in the 11th, and that almost always deserves a top 10 seeding in the state.

I feel like his game is essentially at a D1 level, its just a matter of how high. For him to become a middle to major D1 type player, his ballhandling and PG skills (court vision, awareness, passing, etc.) need to improve.

I don't guess it is a "done deal" or anything, but the kid changed residences and from what I understand has solid reasoning for the move. I dont think it will be too big of an issue.

So if it looked good at your field and a coach asked the same you would tell them not to come? You never know what the weather is going to do in Kentucky.
