  1. Russell returns 2nd half KO from the 3 to the Boyd County 37
  2. Boyd County vs Ashland at Lewis County High School, Saturday at 7pm Looks like an all 64th District Regional Championship, with Boyd county winning over Fleming 10-0 in five innings and Ashland beating Bath County 14-5. This will be the fourth match-up between the two teams this year. Boyd County leads the series 2-1. Boyd County won the regular season mathc up and the district championship at Boyd County, while Ashland won the matchup at Ashland. So this matchup on a neutral site should be a dandy Regional Championship.
  3. I thought the team total was way up there..... Geez 105 in a season is a bunch....
  4. How did the 15th play all of their games yesterday?
  5. I doubt it. I wondered how they were gonna do an early game with school in session. Thanks for claification
  6. Because of the heat index, Lewis County changed the time of the games. There will not be any 1:00 or 4:00 games today. East Carter and Ashland game was moved back to start at 7:00 pm tonight. Then I believed he said, the Fleming County and West Carter game will be at 10:00 in the morning and the Greenup County and Bath County game will be tomorrow night at 7:00.
  7. I think your right because Fleming has school Monday. So game 2 is being played at 4:00 and game 3 is being played at 1:00. And it's the Regionals so who knows. I think it's pretty wide open this year...
  8. All Games played at Lewis County High School May 30th 10:00am. Boyd County vs Russell 1:00pm. Fleming County vs West Carter 4:00pm. East Carter vs Ashland 7:00pm. Greenup County vs Bath County Semi-finals will be Wednesday June 1 at 4:00 and 7:00 Finals will be Saturday June 4th at 7:00 unless Fleming or Bath is in the Finals in which case the Finals will be Monday June 6th at 7:00 because they have graduation on Saturday.
  9. Isn't that really an agruement for classification in baseball? Of course that's probably a different thread
  10. I thought Highlands always played straight up platoon football. I know when I played against them in the early 80s they did. My junior year, their entire offense were seniors and the entire Defense were juniors. There may have been one or two guys going both ways, but by in large that was the way it was. The next year, the defense returned and now was all seniors and they had a new crop on offense that was all juniors.. Hard to beat that when you have 9 of the 11 positions filled with kids going both ways. By the end of the third quarter, you are worn out and they are still fresh. And it sure as heck doesn't help when they are better than you to begin with. ha ha
  11. 63rd District is blind Draw as well and for the same reason. The two smaller schools will not vote for it because it would reduce their chances of making it to the Regional Tournament year in and year out.
  12. I haven't read every comment, but I have read alot of them on this thread. And I don't understand. Why will the administration not support a baseball Spring Break trip? Why does someone think it would be too much party? I've been on high school Spring break trips to Florida several times and it only helps the teams. You want to build a baseball program at Highlands? Then you build you case to the administration on going on a spring training trip. What's it do for you? I'll tell you. 1) It allows a team to bond 2) It creates a senior leadership opportunity 3) It allows for about 10-12 hours a day to be dedicated to baseball. 4) It builds arm strength during a part of the season that you're lucky to be outside at all with the weather in Kentucky. 5) A chance to play quality competition and measure your opportunity for success. 6) A chance to play 5 or 6 Varsity games and 5 or 6 JV games in less than a week. I could go on and on. Sure there are a few cons to going to Florida as well, but the Pros significantly outweigh the Cons. You want to get better than somebody else in baseball? Then play and practice the game when your opponents are not. So you go to Florida (Or where ever) and play 6 games when the other teams in your district are playing the one or two games the weather allows for her in Kentucky. The guys get up and eat breakfast together, they go hit BP and take groundballs, they eat lunch together, they play a game, they have dinner together and they have another quick practice or throw bullpen or spend one on one time to help individual players..... And that's everyday for a week. It's unfair for the administration to not allow this for the baseball players. Give the kids an opportunity to be successful. They owe them that.
  13. That is generally the case in my experience but i was not personally involved so like you I can only assume that as well.
  14. Didn't do an MVP.... All-tournament team: Zach Liles (Raceland), Sammy Holder (Lewis County), Brandon Boyd (Russell), Troy Huffine (Russell), Brian Conley (Russell), Will McCall (Greenup County), Matt Jones (Greenup County), Jared Brown (Greenup County), Seth Boyle (Greenup County).
  15. Greenup jumped out with 4 runs early and held on for a 7-4 win in the 63rd District Championship. Good luck to both teams in Regionals.
  16. Is he the kid that played travel ball last summer for Morehead?
  17. Championship game is scheduled back at Lewis County Wednesday night at 7pm. Russell vs Greenup County
  18. Right before the season started. It is in a tough location for flooding with the outfield up against the creek
  19. Lewis pitched Holder who threw well, then brought in Thompson. 2-0 game after 4 innings, then 4 hits, a couple 2 or 3 walks and 4 errors later, Russel scored 8 runs in bottom of the 5th.
