  1. I am not an Apple person in the slightest, anyone who has ever been in a thread regarding computers knows that about me, but right now the iPad is currently well ahead of its rivals for the most part. At some point in the near future you will start to see some really competitive and good tablet PCs that are non-Apple, but at this point the iPad is the cream of the crop.
  2. 59-56 December 7, 2002 Bush had 116 yards rushing and a TD to go with 33-47 for 468 yards passing and 6 TDs. Brohm was 19-25 with 552 yards passing and 7 TDs also had 52 yards rushing and a TD.
  3. But at the same time, this did give us the opportunity of a life time with our scheduling. We wouldn't be near where we are in the national rankings were it not for that.
  4. I have always felt that the older, more Gothic churches, inspire more reverence and awe at the thought of Christ and his sacrifice than those that look like community centers. Again, personal preference. I like both Tridentine and N.O. masses, like Getslow I grew up with the Norvus Ordo and it was all I knew for the most part. It wasn't until my involvement with church music that I began to be introduced to the Latin and Greek that were once more common in the church. I feel comfortable in either setting however I feel that far too many liberties are taken with worship in the Norvus Ordo than with the more traditional mass. My biggest problem with the modernization of the church is the impact it has had on the music, the reverence people show while in church/in the presence of the blessed body and blood and with the dwindling of the Catholic identity. No offense to our Protestant friends, but I have been to mass in some Catholic churches and thought to myself that I would have been better off going to a Baptist or Church of the Nazarene service with as Catholic as it felt.
  5. While I know Chloe Agnew and the rest of Celtic Woman are absolutely spectacular (they could probably sing the Denny's Menu to me and I would love it) I think the sheer beauty of Latin in song is evident here. Latin Text Panis Angelicus fit panis hominum Dat panis coelicus figuris terminum O res mirabilis! Manducat Dominum Pauper, pauper, servus et humilis Pauper, pauper, servus et humilis English Translation The angel's bread becomes the bread of men The heavenly bread ends all symbols Oh, miraculous thing! The body of the Lord will nourish The poor, poor, and humble servant The poor, poor, and humble servant I remember doing this hymn many times along with a ton of others and every time we did something in Latin like this or any number of others we always received fantastic feedback from the parishioners. We still did a Norvus Ordo mass but we incorporated as much of the rich tradition of music that the church once had to enhance the worship for others. We did not exclusively use Latin and we even made use of Marty Haugen's Mass of Creation for the mass parts on occasion, and we always had tremendous participation on the part of our congregation.
  6. The second video here typifies some of my problems with music in the modern Catholic Church. Haugen's Mass of Creation, as excessively overused as it is, can actually sound beautiful. In this case it sounds pretty pathetic and completely without reverence or any semblance of power from the congregation. In fact it looked to me in this video that folks were pretty indifferent and going through the motions of singing with the cantor doing most of the work(and even her intonation was pretty unenthusiastic). Given the fact that this church clearly has a loft and from the looks of it a pipe organ (the grating on either side of the choir loft) and it is clearly not being used is just painful for me to see. I would suspect that particular church uses the Gather books that are far too prevalent in many parishes. In fact when I walk into a Catholic Church and see a Gather book for the music I tend to cringe because normally it is a portent of the quality of music I will be hearing. Not always, sometimes the director can do a good job despite that, but not often enough.
  7. Amen to that. One of the reasons I am so adamant about music is that it often sets the tone for the worship for the duration of a mass, or at least it does for me. If I am having to listen to a bunch of contemporary shlock with tambourines, drums and guitars I am taken completely out of the experience. In fact I can't stand to see the choir or cantor in front of the church for that matter either. You are not there to make yourself the center of attention, you are there to glorify God and worship. There is no room for self aggrandizing in a proper mass, be it Norvus Ordo or Tridentine.
  8. Is this going to be played in Louisville or Corbin?
  9. I wouldn't object to the Latin Mass becoming more common than it is now. Frankly though I would just be happy if this has an impact on the abomination that has become music in the Catholic church.
  10. Subs were in to start the second, half. Already up 58-0 at that point.
  11. McBroom was a WR, Tim Phillips would be my vote from Trinity if anyone.
  12. If I sprouted wings out of a bodily orifice and fly across the Ohio river that would be pretty impressive too, I would say the odds are pretty similar though.
  13. I will probably be in the minority here but I love Rottweilers. Best dog I ever had was one, not to say I don't love my boxer but he was just fantastic. The only proviso is that they are not good for you if you don't have experience with bigger dogs and cannot be firm with training. They are smart and strong willed animals who want to work and please but don't give them too much downtime or they can get into way too much trouble. Early socialization is a must as well, improperly socialized dogs are the ones that give the rest of the breed a bad name.
  14. Exactly, his inability(or unwillingness) to adapt his business model cost him.
  15. I honestly was annoyed the first time. If your business is saved by begging people to come in and appealing to their emotional side then the odds are good that once the warm feelings have worn off then you will go right back down the drain. I even said as much to many people when it happened the first time.
  16. I always felt that if they had tried to shift into digital distribution of local artists and regional acts that might have helped to shore up the store itself, but I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination on that market.
  17. I fail to see the problem there, that is part of the fun of football. Games in the snow are awesome.
  18. Hey now, I said that you guys would need to hold them to 10 or less to get the win and that is what you did. I didn't expect neither team too have such an abysmal offensive performance with no TDs scored outside of the pick 6. Your boys did it though. Makes me look forward to the rematch more.
  19. They were much more physical than I expected them to be, half time adjustments though and the game was well in hand. Great talent on this squad, but the coaching staff really knows how to adjust the game plan to take advantage of it.
  20. I have to say, I really liked Moeller's mascot. The Crusader was just cool. Our punting was really bad most of the night, we kept giving Moeller good field position. Hats off to our starting D only giving up 7 before they bowed out for the night.
  21. Anyone know the status of Mattingly? I heard the X radio guys saying he went out with an injury. The kid plays hard, I just hope he doesn't end up causing long term damage with as hard as he plays. Sometimes I think he might take too many risks.
