  1. Finished last night, now I just need to wait until retirement for the next book.
  2. I have gotten to the point where I am 100% in agreement with term limits. I don't care how good a job someone has done the problem you run into is that eventually the majority of lifers become stagnant and care more about the next election than they do actually tackling problems. This is why I am all for a 2 term limit on senators and 5 term limit on house members.
  3. There are some things that really bug me about this, mostly the fact that it is too soon. Although I will admit there are a thing or two that I do like about this. I think the guy cast fits the bill better than Toby did, the scrawny lanky nerd makes more sense. I also like the fact that they are starting with Gwen Stacey this time around. Either way though, I have no intention of seeing this one in theaters. Maybe the dollar theaters, but definitely not first run.
  4. There is a newfangled method of moving the football that I have heard whispers of in passing. This concept known as the "forward pass" is something I am quite curious about, does Glaser have any intention of adding this radical method of offensive movement to the Tigers' game? :bunny:
  5. But I thought numbers were the biggest reason for T and X to be so successful?
  6. Trinity returns the majority of their team that was largely sophomores last year. A year of experience under their belt and they have now had a year under the new defensive system. I am certain our boys will play better this year than last. What does HHS have returning?
  7. The Arya chapters are worth it.
  8. I hope to God it doesn't happen. Single party control of government is a disaster with no checks. I don't care which party it is. Divided government is the best course of action for the U.S. and in my mind has been the case for some time.
  9. Keeping those details in mind, I actually would be fine with slight increases. Although I would really only be in favor of them in the form of removing archaic loopholes that have existed since the early 1900s for certain industries. Of course a simplification of the tax code in general would be good in my opinion either way. I do think that the republicans need to be very careful in the negotiations. They are teetering on the precipice of losing public support and that could lead to disaster in 2012.
  10. Yeah, the one group of people I have even less faith in than the JCPS school board is Metro Council.
  11. I agree actually. As long as there are consenting adults, why should there be a limit? As long as no one is being coerced into it or underage I fail to see the problem as long as everyone is okay with it.
  12. Well if that's the case then I could go out there and coach them to victory over any team. We really need to get the word out to schools that want to have successful programs, if you want to win the get as many students in the school as possible and don't worry about establishing traditions, getting a decent coach or anything else. If it was the biggest factor then we never would have had our drought from 94-01, our enrollment was growing the entire time. What happened?
  13. I have always questioned that line of thought too. Who would actively choose to live a lifestyle where you are often looked at differently and treated differently? It leaves me baffled.
  14. I was just wanting to hear you acknowledge something other than numbers, because the first thing we always hear from you is enrollment advantage. Glad I was able to coax it out of you.
  15. It would accomplish about the same thing as mentioning enrollment disparity as soon as anyone tries to say that Trinity has done anything noteworthy, absolutely nothing. The way you talk sometimes westsider you would think that all we need to do to build a program is simply to have 3,000 guys in the school and pick some random schmuck off the street and we would instantly be a title contender. I am sure you will disagree but your tone always has a hint of diminishing our accomplishments. Understandably some of our fans have an obnoxious and ridiculously condescending tone towards other programs and their accomplishments. Often times they serve little purpose than to troll around on the board and puff their chest about how awesome Trinity is at a moment's notice. I understand the desire to knock them down a peg, believe me I do. Much like UK fans we have our group that makes the rest of us groan. I admit we have an enrollment advantage over everyone except St. X and to a lesser extent Dunbar and Henderson (provided their numbers are still above the 2,000 mark). Given that and our tradition the odds will be in our favor most of the time against in state opponents. The question I pose then is how do schools with lesser enrollments that we play from our of state always seem to give us a run for our money? Enrollment is important but it is not everything. Elder and Cincy X both have fewer boys than Trinity and we aren't known for dominating them. MBA has fewer boys than we do and yet they still have a 3-1 edge on us. Enrollment is important but the way people talk on here you would think that any 6A program should regularly demolish competition from the other classes and yet they don't more often than not from what I see on here. Enrollment in addition to commitment and coaching makes for a nearly unassailable advantage, I acknowledge that. I daresay though that without the last two parts of it he equation it counts for little.
  16. Because it is the only thing that you can look at and quantify across the board. You can't classify according to success because for some programs that varies year to year, if you are going to classify you need a constant. That constant is enrollment. I honestly think that if you want true competitive balance you need to be willing to move teams around according to success in order to keep the cream of the crop together. I certainly would like to see something like that. I would much rather have a class that includes Highlands, Trinity, St.X, Male, Boyle, Danville, Mayfield, Central and any other perennial title holder. I think that would be a much more competitive class with much more exciting games that would truly take the competition to a level we have not seen in Kentucky. I almost wonder sometimes if it would be beneficial for us to go to a playoff system like Ohio, that way every game matters. Sorry, that rambled a bit, my mind jumped from topic to topic.
  17. Why do you say probably not? If one could do it, why couldn't another?
  18. By the same token though with such a massive enrollment figure we should have more talented players to choose from in those sports.
  19. Prior to Beatty we had not won a title since 1994. He won his first in 2001, I think that much of it has to do with him and how he fits the culture of the school and community.
  20. To clear the air here we haven't always had the enrollment advantage we have now. The 12 titles we won prior to Beatty's arrival were won, largely, when we either had similar enrollment or lower enrollment than much of our competition. There is no question that our last 8 titles have come during a time when we have a considerable enrollment advantage over all but 3 other schools in the state (2 of whom wouldn't even effectively compete in 5A) but we have also managed a few other things in our time frame. Our state record 50 game winning streak and our convincing defeat (44-20) of eventual Ohio DI champ Elder in 2002 are also things that need to be mentioned in our favor. Another thing to bring up in this discussion is the fact that we have no control over other schools' enrollment and yet it seems as though people instantly want to disqualify us because we have around 1500 male students walking our halls, the majority of whom have no interest in stepping foot on the field.
  21. And here I thought I would be the only one with this opinion!
  22. As long as they are consenting adults who joined into a polygamist marriage without any coercion why shouldn't we allow it? I used to be anti-gay marriage for some time, but the older I get the less it matters to me. I don't see why it is the government's business as to who marries who. Frankly I think the government should get out of the business of marriage entirely, that is something I think anyone who identifies themselves as "Tea Partiers" would love sine it is less governmental involvement in our personal lives.
