  1. Got to make it through the schedule unblemished first.
  2. Umm Jim? He was saying a good thing about us. Zero chance a private school does not take an unathletic kid wanting to attend. Meaning we take anyone who wants to come. :thumb:
  3. That certainly lowers my blood pressure. I seem to recall much of the vitriol being heaved in the direction of the larger public schools being from non-Trinity supporters. We have, by and large, just popped in to defend our school as well. We do have an edge in particular that we need not deal with the bureaucracy that the public schools do, so we can streamline things dramatically. That is actually a level of educational reform I would be in 100% support of in order to make sure that more of the money made it to the schools and not held back by the filter of departments. That is not pertinent to this discussion though.
  4. Our football empire? We have been building a school and a community, you act as though the most important thing to Trinity is football. Trinity's mission is "To provide students with a superior high school education in a supportive atmosphere based upon Christian values in the Catholic tradition." I am not seeing football in there as our priority. A brief glance at our website and "building a football empire" is not apparently a priority. You may hear about football more than anything else, especially if you get most of your information about Trinity from a high school sports forum, but there is far more to us than just football. Considering the vast majority of the student body never plays or even goes out for a single down of football should make it abundantly clear that it is not our priority. I am sorry that you seem to resent the fact that your school's mission is to provide an education for the children of your community. The fact of the matter is though that no matter what I say, you will find some reason to demonize Trinity because we have had success in football and only recently began to build programs for special needs students.
  5. Our education programs have been the focus of the majority of our growth and improvement throughout our existence. Before we got our new facilities we upgraded our classrooms and added more faculty(who teach mind you). The special education programs that we have came into existence within the last 10 years. National priorities are nowhere near as important as our commitment to the Catholic community in Louisville.
  6. McBroom I cannot comment on (mostly because I don't know), but Brohm's family had a longstanding tradition within the Catholic schools in Louisville. The Catholic schools are more than just places for learning and football, they are part of a subculture that has existed in Louisville since well before Trinity opened its doors. Brian's father, brothers and sister all attended Catholic schools and not just at the high school level. Do some people choose Trinity strictly for football? I am sure that happens, I would wager that far more choose it for the education and the sense of community.
  7. My response was simple factual information without undue hyperbole, no need to resort to excessive punctuation to illustrate your point. I was responding to a comment that indicated that it only applied to publics, I am well aware that Trinity doesn't accept female students. For what it's worth, outside of some specialist schools in Louisville, no private school comes close to what we offer for special needs students. We do this because we want more boys to be part of the Trinity family no matter their abilities. Do we have the breadth of coverage that the JCPS does? Certainly not, we haven't had near the time to develop our programs to the extent the publics have and I commend that.
  8. Just to note, were we coed we would have to adhere to Title IX. It applies to publics and privates.
  9. With this economy and the cost of tuition being pretty high, I would say that is a considerable barrier to entry.
  10. There are only three reasons a student does not end up at Trinity who may or may not want to: 1) They are female. 2) Even with financial assistance they cannot afford it. 3) They have special needs that we do not have the facilities to attend to, although we do have a very good special education program there may be some IEPs out there that we aren't prepared to handle. We don't turn people away arbitrarily.
  11. If we are going by longevity then Trinity is at a disadvantage compared to many schools. We have only been around since 1954.
  12. I vote alcohol simply because I have more use for it. I don't have any problem with both being legal.
  13. I had the same problem with my droid.
  14. MB was a senior in 2002. Since then we have lost to Manual (03), Seneca (03), St. X (04,05,07,08,09 twice) and Dixie in 2004.
  15. My perspective exactly. Also there was something that I heard on the radio this morning that the teachers aren't supposed to "friend" former students that have graduated either. That right there should get this tossed out in court. I know the ACLU is going to fight this and I can't blame them.
  16. Good point, did Oxnard write that part of the preview to motivate the Tigers?
  17. While I was only a year old in 84 I remember 2003 very well.
  18. I still don't like the ridiculous amount of superlatives heaped upon our boys. They were dominant last year, but they aren't unbeatable.
  19. They may need to rent out some extra trucks at the rate they're going.
  20. I figure X will have better chemistry this year than last year, I heard that two of the top players for X didn't get along very well. That is strictly a rumor though, I don't necessarily know if it is the absolute.
  21. I was kind of bummed we didn't have any Sam chapters from when he got to Oldtown. I am quite curious as to how things transpired, especially with the Maester that was into all the sorcery and dragonlore.
