  1. I would agree with your characterization of Anakin if Padme's dialogue wasn't equally bad. Hers was horrendous in that same film and she was barely even in Sith. And no, the dialogue wasn't much better but I will cede the fact that Sith was the most watchable of the prequels. 1) ESB 2) ANH 3) ROTJ 4) R1 5) TFA 6) ROTS 7) ATOC 8) TPM I am omitting TLJ until I view it again. I would never judge a SW flick based on a single viewing.
  2. Did you watch any of the dialogue between Anakin and Padme? Obi-Wan was moderately tolerable, but he was fighting a losing battle with bad writing and being in front of a green screen. I am not a professional reviewer either, but I expect a movie from a franchise that I loved to be competent and capable. And I will disagree with you on revenge of the sith, it just feels better than the other prequels because something actually happens. It's like saying "I like herpes, it's so much better than AIDS." Just because one is less terrible than the other doesn't mean it isn't still an STD.
  3. My point is that the characters that you are supposed to care about are only slightly more relatable than the automatons they are fighting. When the characters you are supposed to care about are that bland you have done something wrong. Especially if you are trying to make an epic story. In the original trilogy you had all sorts of side characters, even with minor dialogue, that helped to put a face on those soldiers fighting for the Rebellion. In these movies you don't have that same level of connection with the characters, you don't feel a sense of stakes because you don't see individuals dying. You see CGI Jedi, CGI Clone troopers and CGI battledroids fighting on CGI landscapes. There is no personality to any of it, there is no character to the characters. On the other hand if you watch the Clone Wars series it does just the opposite. It humanizes and characterizes the Jedi and Clone troopers in meaningful ways. In fact had the prequels been done like the series I would have loved them. As it is if I want the experience of the prequels I can play a video game, with potentially better writing. That is not the only issue with the prequels, if you really want an itemized list as to what is wrong I would be happy to go into it when I have time. Although if you don't mind spending time watching things you could just watch the RedLetterMedia Mr. Plinket reviews of the prequels. He hits most of the same points that I would.
  4. In what way? They're badly directed, have little to no subtlety, nothing resembling character development, and in the process do nothing to make you care about the cardboard cutouts that are only slightly better characterized than the battledroids they are fighting.
  5. That is something that can only be learned from the light side of the force. The Clone Wars series goes into some detail about it. That is one of the things that Obi-Wan and Yoda were doing in their respective exiles was attuning to the force and preparing for that. Anakin was familiar with it due to some encounters during the clone wars and I suspect their rationale with him would be more his raw power plus that knowledge. I also agree about Rey's parents. I have never understood the need to connect character histories. I mean Lucas tripped over himself to do that with the worst 3 movies to bear the Star Wars name and all it did was sully the originals.
  6. In a state as poor overall as KY you would see an explosion of the middle classes and a considerable shrinking of the largest classes.
  7. Has the defensive staff changed since Wolford took over? I know X used to have really tough pass D before. For crying out loud Brian Brohm didn't throw a single TD pass against the X varsity until his senior year in 2003.
  8. You would think that a program as storied as St.X would not be content with a runner up and a 1-7 record against T since coaching change (which was presumably due to the recent results against T).
  9. Good catch! No idea, but it's good to get all the details out there.
  10. To be fair from 2001-2003 T had Brian Brohm behind center, a lot of casual fans would go to see him in action.
  11. Probably a decent amount, a lot of casual fans who wouldn't make the drive but want to watch all the gameds will spring for it. Less than a movie and more hours of entertainment, better yet pants are optional.
  12. I know he was used to run the ball on fake punts sometimes.
  13. Let's let them play the championship games before we start this one.
  14. Trinity versus St. X in just about all of their state championship games outside of the 2009 one were nailbiters.
  15. A number of pilots are going to work for overseas airlines because they pay better and apparently treat them better too.
  16. A lot of pilots are not going into this part of the industry anymore. Whole bunch of factors, but when you can fly for UPS, FedEx, or any other courier and make great money with good benefits why in the world would you want to be in the airlines where the pay is mediocre and the benefits aren't what you'd expect. This isn't the glamorous era of PanAm anymore, airports are just glorified bus stations these days. Kind of makes me hope that the hyperloop concept works out, it would be nice to have alternatives for rapid transit across the US.
