  1. LC 21 MC 14 Lincoln took the second half Kickoff the distance.
  2. Neither can the locals. Huge crowd tonight. A bigger home crowd than Lincoln had for the Death Valley Bowl this year. Big test at Mercer County next week.
  3. It doesn’t apply to Lexington but in some small towns, other things like car-shows are scheduled on home-game Friday nights. This used to never happen.
  4. 5:59 kickoff to be first game of the year and a second half running clock.
  5. I happen to be in a good place to look this up...... Dennis Sexton was born in Belleville, Illinois on August 28, 1937. Sexton was the first Boyle County coach to stay more than one season. He stayed two years. He was 6-2-2 in 1965 and 7-1-2 in 1966. He came to Boyle County from Mt. Morris High School in Illinois, where he had served as the head line coach. He played at Belleville Junior College, Illinois during his freshman year. Then he was a famed wingback at Ole Miss his Sophomore and Junior seasons before finishing his Senior season at McKindrick College. He played minor league baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals organization in 1961 and 1962 and batted for an average of .320 and .298 during the two seasons. On January 17, 1967, it was announced that he was leaving Boyle County to take the head football coach's job at Madisonville. Perhaps he left to be closer to Illinois. He coached Madisonville football from 1967-1971 (5 seasons 45-15). In 1972, he became the head coach at Evansville Central in Evansville, Indiana. He coached there until 1980, compiling a 46-42 record in 9 seasons. He continued teaching and coaching golf after resigning as football coach. He died in Evansville, Indiana on December 12, 2004. Interestingly, his daughter, Kim, was married to former New York Yankee player Don Mattingly, of Evansville. Kim spent her first couple of years in Danville. They are now divorced
  6. Jim Farley had the undefeated first season and then moved to Florida. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had stayed. He was an All-State running back during the WWII years at Danville High School and had been awarded a scholarship to UK. Due to a knee injury, UK didn’t work out but he did play some college football as a 190 pound offensive tackle at Centre College.
  7. All is well. 100 boys have shown up for football, including 6 impact players with legitimate transfers from surrounding schools. Nick Saban has been retained to consult the new coach. Negotiations are underway to buy-out non-district games in order to add games with Trinity, Covington Catholic, etc. Expectations are high. We expect to win a championship in two, maybe three classes. The only thing that could beat us would be a Hurricane named Ditka!
  8. Spencer Crutchfield becomes the 11th head coach at Lincoln County High School. He is a 2005 graduate of Garrard County High School. He was most recently and assistant coach at Madison Central. He played for Steve Stonebreaker and has coached with Mark Scenters. Both highly recommended Crutchfield, apparently. This will be his first head coaching position. He will lead the Patriots into the school's 45th football season. Below is a history of LCHS coaches: Bill Ed Leedy 1974-1978 (20-25) 5 seasons Don Wooldridge 1979-1982 (38-9) 4 seasons Steve Sullivan 1983 (5-6) 1 season Larry Phillips 1984-1990 (59-23) 7 seasons Marty Jaggers 1991-1996 (49-27) 6 seasons Tim Estes 1997-2001 (31-25) 5 seasons Robbie Lucas 2002-2003 (4-16) 2 seasons Larry French 2004-2007 (29-17) 4 seasons Mike Settles 2008-2013 (22-43) 6 seasons Travis Leffew 2014-2017 (10-34) 4 seasons
  9. Boyle, Danville and Lincoln have been in the 45th together the past 36 seasons, dating back to 1982-83: Winner: Boyle 14 Lincoln 11 Danville 9 Runner up: Lincoln 14 Danville 10 Boyle 10 Did Not Advance to Region: Danville 17 Boyle 12 Lincoln 11
  10. I’m hearing the same. Travis Leffew 4 Seasons 44 total games (10-34) 14 district games (2-12) 4 playoff games (1-3) 2014: 3-7 5th in 5 team district 2015: 3-9 3rd in 4 team district 2016: 1-10 4th in 4 team district 2017: 3-8 4th in 4 team district His four year tenure is the last four of a 10 year string of losing seasons since LC lost to Highlands in 5A semi-final in 2007. Coach Leffew is going to be missed. He is also the Athletic Director and was probably the best AD in school history. From what I understand, the decision to leave was all his. Now, what can Lincoln do to stop the losing skid? And, more importantly, what coach wants to try? The last two were capable but the wins were tough to get.
