This is a hard game to call.....My mind says Russell, but my gut keeps saying Elliott. If Russell can remain poised throughout the game, I believe their been there done that demeanor will result in the win. If not the "Young Gun Lions" might just ice the Red Devils. This one really comes down to Elliott County. If The Lions can hit the 3 ball at 35% or higher they'll give Russell fits. Good Luck to both teams!

Yes, I noticed the clock running too.....And at that time I knew that those 8-10 seconds could be valuable to either team. As far as the Ashland kids running on to the court.....I think the Ashland administration took care of it quickly and didn't disrupt play to long since the officials were trying to figure out how much time to put back on the clock. Congrats to the Lady Rams

It was a great game. Boyd had the lead for most of the game and was another nail-biter for Ashland. Both teams played with pride and all in all it was a clean game between two heated rivals. Both teams acted with class. The only downside would be the several bottles of water and Nation Guard Basketballs that were thrown at the Ashalnd celebration after the game by the Boyd side of the gym. I don't think anyone was hurt, but that's not good sportsmanship IMO.

Okay I would call this a mild upset since Buckhorn lost to Perry County in the regular season, BUT why in the heck has Buckhorn not played their District opponent Hazard?? Please tell us Friday night if you beat the Bulldogs and I believe that would be upset.

I really think they mean a top ten team, but in the grand scheme of things when "we" Kentucky only crown one State Champion in Basketball any upset in District or Regional play would be a big upset in most other States since they will have class champions like we do with football. An upset within any District or Region in Ky would qualify as a upset to me.:thumb:

I guess we'll make it Morehead right now, but this team cannot play 2 quarters and an OT of basketball from here on out and expect to play more than 2 games. That is no knock on Fairview as they took Elliott County to the wire a week or 2 ago. Maybe Fairview peaked at the right time to battle like they did tonight????

If I were going to give a player of the game to Fairview it would be a 3-way with Barker, Collins and Hall playing very good basketball. It seems that Ashland picked up the pace in the 2nd half and the "over rated" players that Ashland has came back from 11 points down. Now Fairview has and will have a very good team returning, but poise in pressure situations allowed Ashland to win tonight and to be honest its the reason Rose Hill lost last night too. Heck, in a couple of years it looks like it might just be the giants fighting for there lives against poised 1-A schools in the 64th. Did I just say that????

Always sad to hear that a kid has had his/her High School career cut short by injury. In this case, and by all accounts, this is a special young man and I wish him the best in his recovery. I'm sure that Jon's work ethic that has got him to this point in his career will continue through this set back an will lead to a full recovery.
